‘A Little Too Much Coffee’: Joe Walsh Explains Town Hall Tirade

Rep. Joe Walsh said it was too much coffee and a lack of food that resulted in his videotaped tirade during a meeting with constituents Sunday.
“I made the mistake of doing this on an empty stomach and with a little too much coffee,” the Illinois Republican and Tea Party favorite told Fox News’ Neil Cavuto Wednesday. “I downed a couple quick cups which was probably a mistake.”
He pointed out that his “Cup of Joe with Joe” events are “always passionate, spirited affairs” but admitted he might have gone a bit far.
“Did I go over the line on Sunday? Yeah, but I think in general most people find it refreshing that a congressman is so accessible,” he said.
Cavuto asked whether Walsh thought his actions might contribute to the image of the Tea Party as a bunch of “over-caffeinated freaks.”
“There is no doubt Neil that I was a bit too wound up at this one,” he said, pointing out that his events always allow others to express differing opinions.
“I think the world of you, congressman,” Cavuto said. “I think you should change it to maybe ‘Cup o’ Prozac.‘ ’Maybe Cup o’ Downer.’”
Walsh laughed and readily agreed. “It was too much coffee and no food,” he said.

Posted on November 10, 2011 at 8:23amReading the headline I came away with a negative opinion but after watching the video I agree with Joe 100%. Looks like he was just fed up with stupid people who will not listen and are apparently not informed enough. The informed part is the fault of a lamestream media that is bought and paid for by the democrats and communists.

Posted on November 10, 2011 at 12:38amYeah, He was a bit out of control, but I can’t really condemn him (except for telling the guy he’d have to leave for asking questions) since I get the same way. At my work we have no shortage of loud/profane people and I have been trying hard to tone myself down, but if you get me with guys that bring up these same Demo talking points and bleeding heart garbage, all my efforts are fruitless and I lose it too. It will make any sailor blush, the things I say. Oh and Remember, bleeding hearts don’t stay pumping for very long.

I am so sick of seeing the “progressives, welfare lovers, tree huggers” try to show that those of us who nrationally believe in individual liberty and resoponsibility are for some reason inferrior. The Constitution was written by our founding fathers who obviously didn’t “drink the kool-aid,” as they established a new country independent of the British. Soooo, they thought outside of the box and were fighters, just as us filthy liberals are.

Posted on November 9, 2011 at 11:03pmOnly problem is, you libs are NOT thinking outside the box. You are just repeating the sentiments and policies of Woodrow Wilson and his fellow progressives nearly a hundred years ago. Nothing original in your words or aims. The objective of people like that is to turn America into a nanny state where the government has total control and individuals lose their individuality. Your attempt at misdirection in the argument is typical and thoroughly understandable considering the source.

Then the crash. So he wants to try cutting taxes for the rich a third time to see what happens? How many times do we have to cut taxes for the rich before we realize it doesn’t help Americans?

Crack the egg of knowledge on me as this Southern gal pours herself some TEA.

Posted on November 9, 2011 at 10:26pm“Drinking kool-aid” is a reference to the mindless way 913 followers of Rev. Jim Jones on November 18, 1978 in Guyana drank glasses of poisoned kool-aid in an act of mass suicide to show allegiance to him. From then on, anyone accused of drinking the kool-aid is being accused of blindly obeying or believing in something without looking for the truth.

Posted on November 9, 2011 at 10:35pmThank you for the explanation, “RestoreHope.” This term was new to me because I never once heard it in regards to George W. Posted on November 9, 2011 at 10:47pmSounds like you may have drank some kool-aid yourself. To put the blame solely on Bush for the bailouts and the economic freefall is kind of naive. The unstable conditions were already in place not only in America but internationally as well. Obama’s gross mishandling of the economy just keeps the snowball rolling down the mountain. He personally may not have started the landslide but he most certainly has multiplied the destruction it has caused.

Posted on November 9, 2011 at 10:59pmSo you are admitting that issues started with Dubya in office. Thank you for your candor and proving my point.
The current economic situation is akin to a maid showing up to clean a hotel room that’s splattered with blood, food, and God only knows what else, and most of the furniture broken. The damage is done and you do your best to clean it, but because the damage is so severe you can’t immediately slap a band-aid on it and say, “Done!” Eight years of diddling around vs. two years of trying to clean up the mess of a very…. “overwhelmed” man.
I’m off to play with my dog and hang out with loved ones. Have a good one.

Posted on November 10, 2011 at 1:07amActually, Femme, I did not prove your point at all. I pointed out that the underlying economic conditions were already set in place by the time Bush got into office. Your placing the blame on Bush is way too simplistic. It is apparent that the current prez has not spent the last THREE years cleaning up the mess……otherwise at least SOME progress could be seen. Rather he has spent his term dividing and agitating the populace. Too bad he didn’t devote more time to clean up, huh?
