A (Lost) Boy & His Dog…a Great Story of Man’s Best Friend

Imagine that your two-year-old son, wearing only a diaper, wanders out of the house into a dark 40 degree night. In the brief minutes before you realize that he is missing, the boy virtually disappears into the cold night air.
Friends, family, neighbors, and police supported by search dogs and helicopters scour the area for hours until they decide it is useless to continue in the darkness. At dawn the search resumes with quick and miraculous results.
The young boy was found, safe and sound. Despite the cold night and lack of clothing (only a diaper), little Tyler Jacobson was fine. most of the credit for the grand ending to this worrisome tale goes to the family dog, a Labrador that spent the entire night protecting and warming the boy.

Posted on April 3, 2011 at 4:54pmWhere was this? Most of Wisconsin would have been in the 20 – 30′s overnight with rain this morning. Not 40′s and sunshine and shirt sleeve weather when video was taken. Most of Wisconsin barely made it above 40 today. And there would not be any leaves on the bushes and brush. Definitely not Wisconsin.

Posted on April 3, 2011 at 4:43pmOK, OK, thank the Lord and all (I am not saying this is a small thing) BUT…
The search was called off until morning???
My hunting dog goes missing in my urban neighborhood at 1:00 am and I do not STOP until she is safe and sound in her bed.
12 hours? Puuullllleeeesssseeee
40 degrees?
12 hrs is the tick of a clock compared to the loss of a HUMAN LIFE.
THIS IS A CHILD PEOPLE!!!
They searched “EVERY INCH” well not exactly “EVERY INCH”
unless that kid drove off the subdivision for smokes.
OK, I may be guilty of not knowing all the facts about mom and certainly she may have been completely innocent, but a neighbor doesn’t know the search is underway…Did the searchers go door to door? Yeah it looks like they are big pieces of property BUT THIS IS A CHILD, PEOPLE!!!
Perhaps the dog should be given custody of this child. Hey, I’m just sayin…

Posted on April 5, 2011 at 7:48amTotally agree!! My 1st thought was, ……called off the search just because it got dark and it was 40 degrees outside?? WTF!! Have they ever heard of flashlights and coats? It’s a miracle that kid survived. The only reason he did is because the dog was smarter than the searchers!

Posted on April 3, 2011 at 5:29pmI am from Wiscosin and yes we do have people with southern accents as they move here from southern states. However, the topography, no snowcover (we just got 17.8 inches last week), the accents and the leaves on the trees made we watch the video a bit closer. Then I noticed on the photo of the little boy that it was provided by the Krenshaw County Sheriff. There is not a Krenshaw County in Wisconsin–Kenosha but not Krenshaw. Therefore, this story is not from Wisconsin.

Posted on April 3, 2011 at 4:24pma$$kel3.5 . you hav too bea troull. Yes an intelligent parent dose not let a 2 yr. old do anything on his own in another room except sleep. Get juice? Give me a brake.
Report Post »axel@25
Posted on April 3, 2011 at 4:47pmNothing bad happens in their sleep??
Report Post »Children have also wandered off in the middle of the night while their parents slept ….but I suppose the parents are supposed to stay awake and watch as they sleep too?…how about kids that were abducted from their beds…if the parents were awake in the room that wouldn’t have happened…maybe they were stupid too?
Two year olds like to do things to show how “big” they’re getting. and can be very self determined. Certainly, parents should be vigilant…and this one probably watched the “Juice getting demonstration” a hundred times already. It may have become a standard procedure, getting a juice box from the kitchen isn’t exactly “juggling chainsaws”.
Thank goodness the parent “ignored” all those “dog attacks child”stories…or there may not have been such a happy ending.

Posted on April 3, 2011 at 3:37pmLooking at the video I suspect it was those greedy cops and firefighters in cahoots with the dog to get some publicity. I think all cops and firefighters should be volunteers. Plenty of people would do those jobs for free. I’d volunteer but my back gets sore when I sleep on it wrong.

Beautiful story of goodness coming out of the wilderness to do what is right.
Please God, provide Israel some goodness and shelter from the fires of hate they are facing.
Please pray that our leaders will come to their senses and help protect Israel.

Both he and I are old now probably will go to the beyond together. We have walked most days six miles a day together for twelve years. When you think you are above it all, a dog can make you realize you’re just a part of it all. It is good this boy had the dog, mighty good.

Report Post »The first one is how did that kid get so far away and why was the dog with him….?
Did he just open the back door and start walking ?
The second would be if the range was only how far a small child could walk then why couldn’t the bloodhounds find him ?
This whole thing sounds fishy to me.

Yeah, but if Hollywood does it, the little boy will be a muslim,
and the dog will have been rescued from being tortured at the hands of American soldiers.

Let’s this just remain a great story of how dogs are special gifts. They understand.
