This Is How We‘ll Drive the Establishment ’Crazy’: Beck Explains Merger of GBTV & The Blaze in Message to Audience

Over the last few months we’ve been slowly pulling back the curtain on some of the big plans we have in store—plans that, with your support, will change the world. From new initiatives to feed the hungry, to voter registration drives, to collaborations with artists and musicians, to the Restoring Love events this July—we have set out to prove that combining big dreams with hard work is still the only recipe for lasting success.

Today, I’m excited to reveal the next part of the plan—and it involves three of our largest and most important projects: GBTV, our online streaming television network that hosts my daily show, TheBlaze.com, our extremely popular independent news and information outlet, and the Marketplace by Markdown.com, our e-commerce site featuring American small businesses.

Just a few hours ago I announced to my staff that we will be merging these three properties into a new, world-class multimedia network called “TheBlaze.”

This is a case where the whole will be far greater than the sum of its parts. By combining one of the world’s largest subscription streaming networks with a news site currently visited by over 7 million unique visitors a month and an e-commerce site that is reinventing the way small business owners find an audience, we will be creating a powerful new media entity.

We will now be delivering a mix of premium subscription content and free content on TheBlaze. Later this year, if you’re a subscriber and go to login at GBTV.com, you’ll be redirected to login at TheBlaze.com – and you’ll still be able to watch the premium video content on the web, iOS devices, Roku and Boxee. Meanwhile, TheBlaze’s free content will continue to be a mix of original reporting, curated news stories, opinion pieces, and video.

If you are a current user of any of these sites, rest assured that the content you love will continue. In fact, you’ll be getting a lot more of it. In the very near future, TheBlaze will begin offering original programming and video content on a 24/7 basis. In addition to the current GBTV lineup that will be coming over (including my daily radio and television shows, Real News, Liberty Treehouse, Independence USA, and The B.S. of A.), we’ll also be launching lots of new content on TheBlaze and expanding into new areas, like radio and publishing. But your experience will not change: If you subscribe to GBTV, your subscription will continue at TheBlaze; and if you enjoy reading the free stories on TheBlaze.com, you’ll be able to continue to do that as well.

I believe that merging these properties will help expose the critical news and information we report on daily to millions more people. By virtue of its size and committed user base, the mainstream will be unable to easily marginalize or ignore TheBlaze—or the stories we report on. I told you last year that we were going to drive the establishment in this country crazy—and this is how we will do it.

But the keyword is “we.”

I’d like to take this opportunity to thank all of you readers, listeners, and viewers of GBTV and TheBlaze (now just “TheBlaze”) who have helped make this new venture a reality. Thank you subscribers for your trust and your willingness to come on this journey from the very beginning. I promise, this new entity is going to give you exponentially better content. Thank you readers for finding and sharing the news that the mainstream media has been ignoring. Over the past two years, Blaze readers have proven that there is a huge audience in this country for news that doesn’t pander for ratings, obscure the facts, or act as a mouthpiece for the White House.

Aside from all the amazing new content we will soon be delivering to you, the only big change will be the name. And as many of you probably remember from those early “Making of GBTV” specials, I never really wanted to call it GBTV anyway.

So buckle up gang. I can’t wait for what comes next.

      SPECK, I’m inclined to agree with you. As wise as Uncle JZS is, and despite the depth and breadth of his profound knowledge and understanding, I doubt any of the Blaze accountants are too threatened by me posting here. In fact I’ve been approached with a deal to be paid a penny for every word I post, and two pennies for every provocative and insulting word I post.

      But I declined the offer. I hold above all the forthright presentation to the uniformed of the TRUTH. Unlike Gleen, I refuse to let corporate interests interfere with my presentation of knowledge, which even the limited understanding of my detractors and stalkers can benefit from, if they apply themselves.

      Changing the name from GBTV to something else that doesn‘t have Beck’s name in the title makes me wonder if he is going to dump out of the GBTV / Blaze world in the near future for some reason, like he kind of dumped out of the Tea Party movement and left it hanging once it was going. GBTV is an awesome name for a network. You hear the station letters “GBTV” and instantly you know what it is and what kind of content you are likely to hear. Ted Turner never soured to the the call letters TNT or WTBS. What the hell is going on here? Damnit Glenn, quit screwing around and stop being self destructive. Don’t kill “GBTV” (unless you are turning your back and walking away that is)

I know that all of you see my name and you just pass by and do not care to reply to me, but things are moving in a direction that you are not going to be able to ignore. It is not all Romney’s fault, but the establishment that guides his campaign and the influence the establishment has on the GOP.     Cant Wait! The technological progression and growth will bring the 4e’s into allignment! As the corporation expands and I find myself as a user gaining more out of my subscription I will be willing to pay more! Weather I watch it or not, I support it and the mission behind it all.     Hoping for the best, but a little worried about this…
    The reason drudge is so popular is that it is CLEAN, and not full of ad’s.
    This could potentially ruin theblaze, by clogging it with too much information and ad’s. (This is already happening IMO)
    I will reserve my judgement until after I see it. And, I will reserve my dollars in re-upping my subscription to gbtv also.
    We shall see…

    I have a feeling this will not turn out well. I have to say that as far as the reporting and current content of theblaze.com I only read some thing, and those with a grain of salt. I have seen too many grammatical errors and bad copy/past technique on the part of Blaze Staff Writers while on this site. It often leads me to believe that the staff who are working the blaze.com are not very professional.
    As for Real News on gbtv, I have not watched any episodes in a while. Between Will Cain’s Ego problems and SE Cupp coughing live right into her mic while on air; I find it very unprofessional.
    Also, something tells me that the current subscription rates will change once the transition to “One Web Portal” is completed and any consumer confusion has died off as to the new format.

      I watch gbtv on an internet tv device, it’s basically a tv with a keyboard. The Blaze kills my poor little android browser. Wow this is going to be harsh. All those old school pop-ups and other junk’n stuff. Oh well, I guess I will watch until I can’t stand the browser crashes anymore. Maybe they will fix it but I doubt it.

      Just a bubba: Get the oracle (or another) browser app, it handles the site fine. I think the android browser is simply unstable as I have this issue as well.. Either that or Google has an issue with The Blaze, lol

      I have Firefox with Adblock Plus plug-in and I’m not seeing these popup ads that many are complaining about. (Something to consider).

      Also, I’m one of the $10 a month subscribers. This move will certainly make paying $10 a month worth it. I don’t watch GBTV on a Roku or Boxee device. I’ve invested my money elsewhere by buying an HDMI cable (about 15 ft), HDMI port adaptor and watch GBTV on my big screen TV through my Macbook Pro laptop. It looks better than the channels on the DVR box.

    Gotta admit, I have reservations. When I read:

    I hear, “Now when you select an interesting article, it’ll likely say “Read the rest by becoming a premium member!“ or ”You’ve read 20/20 of your free articles for this month. Subscribe to get unlimited access!”

    Time will tell if those will happen I suppose. I sure hope not, but I understand Beck is a capitalist at heart and ad content doesn’t get you nearly as much as paid monthly subscriptions from hundreds of new subscribers. I won’t rue him for his choice, but I won’t cheer for it either.

    As a premium subscriber to GBTV I am dismayed at this move because I see theblaze as a prime example of yellow journalism. This will factor into whether or not I continue to pay. I don’t think Glenn needs our money any longer to build his network anyway.

      It’s a mix. Some articles (mostly of the pure opinion variety) are as extreme and emotionally-charged as any you might find on some MSM site (or the opinion section of your local paper). Others are pure tabloid filth (anything from the UK Daily Mail, for example). Others are linked from sites that may or may not be biased, but are genuinely interesting and usually well-reported. And some are actually really good investigative journalism, such as the exposé on that liberal Kimberlin who has been suing the pants off bloggers who disagree with him.

      That said, if you’re getting any additional content for free by already being a GBTV member, there’s no reason to quit. Just don‘t come to The Blaze’s news section if you don’t like it :-)

      I have a GOOD feeling about this. Not everyone can afford “GBTV” now to be called TheBlaze, but it does need to be funded. I am a cheapo member ($4.95 @ month) and I think this is great! I hope Glenn continues his nightly shows! Back to Beck!

      Goodstuff, This shows the mentality of the Glenn Beck super followers, misinformation. Ron Paul is still in the race, Ron Paul has a better chance at winning the nomination on the first round of votes now, than he did just a mere two weeks ago. Do you not follow real news or do you just listen to Fox?? The delegates are going to be unbound to vote their conscience at the convention. There are more Paul supporters as delegates than anyone can imagine. The RNC is going to be charged with RICO violations by the time this is over. This is serious stuff. Which side are you going to really be on? Are you willing to turn a blind eye to actions that you scream about when the DNC is accused of the same? Are you still going to stand by the candidate that was a part of this election fraud? Will you turn a blind eye to this corruption of free elections that you would only expect in Russia? If you do, then you have no principles to stand by.
