A Thanksgiving Message From Glenn Beck

Ok, I promised my wife that I wouldn’t freak out her whole family this Thanksgiving and start talking about all the things going on in the country. But I never said anything about talking to all of you… so brace yourself for my Thanksgiving message.
Ok, yes there are a lot of problems in our country, but today isn’t about bad news. It’s so easy, especially with how things are, to get tunnel vision and focus only on the bad. Politicians have lied to us again and again leading to the highest levels of distrust in history. The economy is a rollercoaster. Friends and family are out of work and the cost of living just seems to go higher and higher. Are you beginning to see why the family put the ‘downer’ ban on me this year? Life is hard, it’s a struggle – but there’s also hope.
There is good news, positive news, and on a day of thanks I think it’s important we talk about those things. Start in your own home. Take a look around and take stock of the things that really matter: Faith. Family. Friends. I’m so excited about Thanksgiving because it gives me time to reconnect with these three critical pieces of my life. While I try and keep things in perspective all year it’s easy to get lost in the bad and forget these three good things.
Faith. Take a moment to look at the role that God plays in your life. I don’t care what church you go to, but I do think that God is an important piece of everyone’s life. This Thanksgiving, get down on your knees and pray. Invite your family to join you. Just turn off the football, step away from the turkey, and give thanks for God’s forgiveness. While in this quiet reflection, take the opportunity to find clarity as well. Now, more than ever, it is important to know what God has planned for you and your life. He did not create you to sit around and eat Doritos all day – so what is it He wants you to do?
Family. Ok, I know not everyone loves being around their relatives during the holidays. You’ve got the crazy uncle telling nonsensical stories or an annoying in-law bugging you about how you’re holding the carving knife the wrong way. Everyone has to deal with this. Just close your eyes, take a breath, and when you open your eyes again realize how much these people shape your life and the lives of those that matter most to you. Your family will be there with you through think and thin – no matter what happens. No matter how crazy things get during the holidays, know that these are the people that have your back. Step back and enjoy their fellowship during the holidays.
Friends. Anyone else out there have a friend they haven’t spoken to in a while? I know I do. This one may sound a little odd, after all faith and family are easier to reconnect with during the holidays than old friends. But I would ask that you call an old friend that you haven’t spoken to in a long time. Touch base, see how they are. The holidays can be tough, many of us have lost family and are going through tough times. Connect with someone who you haven’t spoken with in a while – you never know what difference you may make in a person’s life with just a phone call.
Faith. Family. Friends. These are the connections that sustain us in our life, no matter what may be going on in the world. I’m going to be announcing some things to help bring us all together over the next year – but the first steps begin at home.
Have a wonderful and happy Thanksgiving!

Have you seen Kimmel try to get passed the Bachmann fiasco. He did a good job with a Thanksgiving GOP Debate mixed with a little Charlie Brown. Take a look: http://www.americanparchment.com/video/2011/nov/kimmel_charlie_brown.html

Posted on November 24, 2011 at 2:25pmThank you, Glenn, for all you’ve done for America, in fact, for the world. As Americans, we have been the builders, the thinkers, and the inventors of the world. Thanks to the freedom we’ve had in our past we were able to these things. I‘m not saying that other countries don’t have people willing to help one another. I’m positive that they do, but their governments stifle their opportunities for growth as ours is doing increasingly so to us now.
Report Post »I was raised by a selfish and union obsessed dad who hates religion. So having never been taught Christianity or even family values. I‘m not a religious person and am one of America’s poorest. I still refuse to take government assistance. I can’t even afford a bed to kneel down to pray on. I sleep on the floor. I’m thankful, at least, that I have shelter and some food. I wish I could do something more and wish my family was one that talks to one another and does things together, but I will try to pray for direction for the first time on this Thanksgiving day nonetheless.
America should be the beacon of light and hope that The Founders had intended it to be, but I expect that cannot happen until the government undoes its stranglehold on America‘s education system and people stop obsessing on their foolish materialism and hedonistic ways and America’s “well off” stops looking down on those workers not so fortunate as they. Have a great Thanksgiving, Glenn, staff and Blaze readers.
Glen (w/ one N) :-)

Posted on November 25, 2011 at 12:19amThere are so many things to be thankful for everyday. One thing I am thankful for is your Radio Show. I listen to talk radio everyday at work, and you guys always get me laughing in the morning.
Report Post »Whether it’s the “Apocolypse Packets”, the occupy nitwits, or whatever, it is a blessing to be able to laugh about stuff and remember that, no matter how bleak the horizon looks sometimes, we still live in the greatest country in the world. Thank you, Beck. God bless you, your family, your staff, and their familes. Happy Thanksgiving.

Posted on November 24, 2011 at 1:27pmAnyone can have a great holiday with family and friends, but who can have a holiday in truth? All you have to do is talk only about things that don’t matter to God to have a good holiday. But if you try to talk about God in truth and light, then you won’t have a very good holiday with your family and friends. And that’s the sad truth.

Posted on November 24, 2011 at 1:41pmThe Lord God Almighty is the [ Lord of Hosts } because the Lord doesn’t bend himself to fit whatever belief or agenda people have, in that people have to come up to God because He doesn’t come down to our level, like any good Father would not. I’m going to do on earth as it is in Heaven, and I won‘t be calling people who don’t have my doctrine and worship Baal, lest I feed their resolution. America got to this point of decay even coming from being a more religious nation, and therefore there must have been something incorrect in the religion of America to begin with, and repeating the same incorrect religion isn’t going to fix the nation. But still, Have a Great Thanksgiving.

Posted on November 24, 2011 at 2:02pmPeople read the Bible and they pretend to celebrate it and yet they get nothing from it. Jesus said”If they will do this to me, then what will they do to you?” And therefore there must be billions of people not really representing the truth. Job, was scorned by all his friends and family, and yet people somehow think that getting along with everyone means they must be sacred. You are wrong.

Posted on November 24, 2011 at 1:01pmHappy Thanksgiving Glenn and may God’s riches Blessings be on you and your family. I respect your courage and your desire to expose evil to turn our nation around. While I may differ with you on some things, I put those things aside to say I am thankful for your courage to stand for Israel and what you believe to be truth! May we thank God today from where all blessing flow! May we not question God on anything that we don’t understand and trust Him fully. Man may let us down and disappoint us but God is faithful in all things. I thank Him for His Son Jesus who came in human flesh to cover the sins of those who trust Him to be both Lord and Savior of our lives!

Posted on November 25, 2011 at 12:39amSeriously? That’s your best idea? Most of us have matters that require our attention daily and cannot willy-nilly “march on Washington”. That is generally done by irresponsible leftwing slackers and parasites that have nowhere to be M-F at 8am. How about trying to convince everybody you know to vote Republican down the ticket next year? I know the Republican party isn’t perfect, but it is our only hope to preserve our standard of living in this country. Wise up.
