ABC News Airs Some Video of Shooting Victim‘s ’Death Threat’ Arrest

As we reported Saturday, Tucson shooting victim J. Eric Fuller was arrested following the taping of an ABC News “town hall” event hosted by Christiane Amanpour for making a death threat.  On Sunday morning, ABC News aired the event and included a brief mention of Fuller’s outburst and arrest…though without quoting what Fuller actually said.

Fuller’s alleged death threat remark came as Tucson tea party leader Trent Humphries spoke about how the nation‘s gun laws weren’t to blame for last weekend’s shooting massacre that left six dead and more than a dozen others wounded.  As Humphries begins to talk about his neighbor who died in the incident, a man’s voice — possibly Fuller’s — can be heard mumbling in the background, drawing the attention of others in the audience.  It’s not entirely clear, but this bit of audio may be the “you’re dead” threat Fuller reportedly made during Humphries’ remarks (around :50):

After the event, Amanpour noted Fuller’s arrest:

I have been thinking a great deal about our right to free speech in the last week or so. Probably the most important of them all. I believe it should apply equally to all Americans. Yes – There is the “Don’t yell FIRE!!” in a crowded building kind of exceptions. But those are very few. If you think about it: without free speech we really wouldn’t have much else that we have come to prize.

Did you know that on the floor s of our congress you can say ANYTHING with absolute impunity? That’s correct. You may accuse your adversaries (and their parents) of having a sexual interest in livestock if you care to. You are perfectly within the rules to say something like “I am going to murder the Honorable Representative from California with a candlestick in the library.” Perfectly okay. No repercussions whatsoever.

Sarah Palin defends herself against accusations that she is, at least partially, responsible for a mass killing and she is somehow spewing hateful rhetoric. Most of the patently false accusations coming from folks who enjoy not only our freedom of speech but also freedom of the press and the people who are protected by virtue of being elected officials. Somehow she is the bad actor????

Whatever is fair for one should be fair for all.

The liberal left continues to melt down. They are seriously trying to cover their tracks on their shoddy “journalism” and failed attempts to connect Jared with right wing extremism. Olbermann, with a straight face, had that idiot, Mark Potok, try to convince the few viewers that actually watch that show, that the shooter was a right wing nutjob. Krugman is still hiding in his Ivory Tower, and the liberals are still trying to chisel off the dried egg on their faces. They have been exposed…BIG TIME. They have lost the middle of the political spectrum in this country by not only losing the argument, but by losing the few shreds of credibility they had remaining.

But…I predicted it almost two years ago, and the dots weren’t that hard to connect…for me, at least.

I have to disagree with one point. I don’t think the drive-by media are trying to cover their tracks at all. They feel they are elite, know it all, and pat each other on the backs for a job well done every time they slam the right, false accustation or not. Since this Fuller is a supporter of Gibbons, right ?? then if Gibbons did something or voted on something he didn’t agree with, would he act just like Jared Loughner ??

As we know, Jared Loughner once met with the congresswoman and she said something he didn’t agree with or approve us. Was Jared a follower of the congresswoman as this Fuller is and get upset with her, as this Fuller does when he doesn’t agree with gun laws, then decide he was going to act out the way he did, just this Fuller may very well do one day ??

Do you get my point… What happens when the Congresswoman does or says something this avid follower of hers, Fuller doesn’t agree with, does he then feel betrayed and be the next Jared Loughner ??

For those of you have seen the post on KROS , from :Blue Boy”, who felt she had really betrayed him and the the congresswoman was now dead to him ( or her)… this is how these wacko’s of the left work. The craziest ones are usually the most active supporters. This Fueller seems to be one of them, as I am wondering if Loughner wasn’t one of those in the past as well ?? What do you think …

It‘s interesting that we can now be so sensitive to ’conversational context‘ yet we can’t use the word “terrorist” to describe terrorists or that we use the word to describe any and all acts that produce unexpected emotional disturbance outside of the normal analog of day to day life. We seem to have lost our ability to actually identify and describe our own behaviors. And words now have a criminal consequence outside of the false yelling of “fire” inside a crowded room.

Why is it that there was no mention of this on todays program? When Sarah Palin spoke about the hate and vitriol statements made against her, it was all over before the comments had finished being posted. Maybe we should write and email them and ask them why. This is supposed to be a news show not a propaganda broadcast. “the first step in the revolution by the working class is to raise the proletariat [lowest social or economic class] to the position of ruling class, to win the battle of democracy.” For what purpose? To “abolish private property”; to “wrest, by degrees, capital from the bourgeoisie [middle class]”; to “centralize all instruments of production in the hands of the State” (Karl Marx). Is this what we can expect from our MSM to inform us?

I believe in freedom of speech, but words carry meaning and while Eric Fuller was one of the victims of the murderous assault, so was Trent Humphries’ friend. So, I don’t think it should be framed as Trent Humphries of the Tea Party speaking, but Trent Humphries, friend of a victim. However, Eric Fuller then actively threatened Humphries – and at that point, he crossed a line.

After Fuller was escorted from the building, there are reports that he was still screaming things, which resulted in his being taken to a mental health facility rather than to the station for booking. It was clear to the officers that something was awry. Fuller had also gone to the home of the shooter’s parents and spoken with the news crews, which is his right to do so.

I hope that Fuller gets the help he so obviously needs.

Yes, it would have hurt. The MSM maintains violence comes only from the Right, and this would have wiped out (as in a stain) that entire meme. Then it might be incumbent on ABC to dig deeper, like to Fuller’s webpages. Those pages reveal a man seriously unhinged, released from the military for ‘non-physical’ disability. In other words, a Section 8 discharge. That would call into greater question the whole idea the shootings were the fault of Palin & Co.

No way would Amanpour and ABC allow that. Hence, the ‘creative editing’ of yesterday’s incident. Heck, far as I know, ABC never mentioned the threat was made against a Tea Party member.

In the case of Fuller here we need to also consider he is a victim of the shooter, a lone nutcase (the shooter) injured him bodily. Sometimes the stress and trauma of such events take much time and effort to deal fully with; and he seems to now see the Tea Party as the cause and focus of why he was injured – instead of the shooter.

I will not excuse threats being made by anyone; just let us hear the full status of his mental health and see how that comes into play.

Maybe a second such shooting tragedy can be, or has been averted.

His mental capacity isn’t compromised as a result of the shooting. That would cause him to have rage, but it doesn’t make you suddenly believe nonsensical conspiracy theories. If it was the result of the shooting his rage would be directed at the shooter, but it’s not. It’s directed at who the socialist media told him to direct it at.

It’s not the same thing as two parents bickering and blaming each other for their child dissapearing. This guy had to actually make the choice to go out and stalk people. He’s clearly mentally unstable but it has nothing to do with the shooting.

It is only a matter of time before a loon somewhere enganges in violence against a prominent Tea Party member. I’m guessing the coverage of that story, when it happens, will not be about rhetoric from the left.

The Tucson shooter didn’t pay attention to any media, yet right wing politics is to blame.

I watched this whole piece Sunday and I noticed he was about the only one who did not get asked any questions by the host Amanpour. Now if I was a sensitive Dem, had gotten shot, had been a part of some national tragedy, I think I would have become a bit agitated as Amanpour put it. SO what does the guy do. He decides he needs to be heard out of anger. I really do believe the media may have overlooked him on purpose because they had prior knowledge that he went to the parents home and the media confronted him there. I also believe had she reached out to him and let him have some air time, he may not have gone off the way he did. I am applying the same logic to this man that they applied with a broader brush to the Right however this is a bit different, we have a specific issue right in front of us and the whole purpose of this forum is meant to reconcile what happened and try to get some healing. The media failed at this and this is the proof. Just applying how they (the Left) work these things out. He in the end is responsible, left out or not.
