‘Abortionists Target Black Babies’: NC Church Posts Sign Accusing Planned Parenthood & Others of Racism

Macedonia Baptist Church in Columbia, South Carolina, is turning heads with a new pro-life sign posted outside the house of worship. Rather than merely standing in opposition to abortion, the message alleges that abortion providers purposefully target African Americans — a charge that is regularly waged against Planned Parenthood, among other groups.
“Ultimate Racism — Abortionists Target Black Babies,” reads the sign, which was posted last Thursday.
In an interview with WISTV, Pastor Patrick Dye discussed the church’s reasoning for posting the controversial message, claiming that he refuses to ignore the issue any longer.

“I cannot be silent and just say that‘s somebody else’s problem or I’m not dark enough to care about that issue. I can’t do that,” Dye explained in an interview with the local outlet. “This is the crime of America.”
Considering the controversy surrounding Planned Parenthood, the women’s health organization coming under fire most recently for allegedly allowing sex-selective abortions, it’s no surprise that Dye mentioned the group in his commentary about the issue.
“Planned Parenthood purposely locates in minority communities. The Planned Parenthood clinic is located at the edge of a white community, but right there within walking distance of the housing project on Forest Drive and Two Notch Road,” he added.

While Dye assumes the clinic attempts to attract African Americans, a spokesperson for the group claims that the average patient is between 18 and 24. Rather than abortion, the representative claims that birth control is the most sought after service.
But Live Action, a pro-life group known for undercover advocacy, claims to have collected information proving that at least some Planned Parenthood clinics have been willing to take monies based on a racist agenda in the past (read more about that here).
“For those who don’t agree, I hope it would get them to thinking, considering the issue, and being willing to have an open heart and open mind to say, ‘What is it I need to know?” Dye also told WISTV.
This isn’t the first time that the church, led by Dye, who is white, has posted an anti-abortion sign. In fact, over the past five years, this is the 12th time that such a message was placed outside of the church.

The people who walk through the door of Planned Parenthood were free to make that decision. It is not racist. It is their choice, like so many other things in life. If they make poor decisions and don’t take personal responsibility it is no one else’s fault but their own.

Why is this affiliated with the church as I feel it is a distraction from the message you are intended to hear while at service.
