About Face? NRSC Will Support O’Donnell, Give Her $42,000

If you Tweet it, they will succumb.

That might be the lesson today as the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) has just announced that it will support Republican “tea party” candidate Christine O’Donnell in Delaware.

NRSC Chairman John Cornyn, Republican Senator from Texas, released a statement announcing the committee’s support:

Let there be no mistake: The National Republican Senatorial Committee – and I personally as the committee’s chairman – strongly stand by all of our Republican nominees, including Christine O’Donnell in Delaware.

I reached out to Christine this morning, and as I have conveyed to all of our nominees, I offered her my personal congratulations and let her know that she has our support. This support includes a check for $42,000 – the maximum allowable donation that we have provided to all of our nominees – which the NRSC will send to her campaign today. [Read Cornyn's full statement at Politico.]

That’s a reversal from yesterday, when it was believed the NRSC would not support O’Donnell. However, NRSC spokesman Brian Walsh did leave the door open for a change of heart. “We reserve the right, as the Democrats do, to invest money in any race at any time,” he said.

As our own Meredith Jessup reported last night, the NRSC’s initial decision prompted a backlash on Twitter from grassroots Conservatives. O’Donnel spoke about her win, and lack of support, this morning on “Fox & Friends”:

Thank you John Cornyn for stepping up and correcting a stupid mistake by the spokesman for NRSC. Maybe someone from the RNC will have the cajones to do the same.

I just read an article on Comcast that said the Democrats are happy that O’Donnell won. That really shows just how smug they really are. The GOP didn’t think she would win the nomination but she did. There is a big wake up call coming this November.

So the **** roaches run when light is shined on them. Now they think we will forget the true colors they showed us last night. We all know the Democrat Party does not represent any of the values of most Americans. Now the Republican leadership has shown us they don’t either. I urge everyone to NEVER GIVE ANY DONATION TO THE RNC EVER AGAIN. Give directly to the candidates you support. SEND A MESSAGE TO THE RNC WE ARE NOT THEIR SLAVES ANYMORE. All the RINO’s must go.

its all about Washington versus the people they didn’t want to support a no name “tea-party.” candidate and upset the establishment, she is still a “republican” with tea party ideas. so if power if its what they want and that’s it and what they want 51 seats are 51 seats regardless of who is in there

I just called the Republican National Committee offices in Washington to express my opinion on the Senate race in Delaware, and hoping to communicate my expectation that the RNC would fully support Christine O’Donnell as the Republican primary winner in the senate race. They must be inundated with callers right now, because “all operators were busy assisting other callers” and the voice mail box they transferred me to was full and not accepting messages. Even pressing zero after that, per the instructions on the call, said it was an invalid extension.

I sincerely hope the Republican party listen to the voice of the registered Republicans who made their choice clear at the ballot box.

I really don’t care one way or the other what Karl Rove thinks. When he trashed her last night on Sean Hannity’s show on Fox, Rove made it clear that he is firmly on the side of the entrenched elite in Washington that helped get us where we are, not on the side of the little people, who are speaking up via their votes. We want change, real change that means movement forward, regardless of party. We definitely need some new thinkers and new policies in Washington!

I was sickened by Rove and Perrino, and hope Sean doesn’t have them back on his radio or TV show…ever…to hell with the Republican Party, that‘s why I’m an Independent. Christine O’Donnell represents the struggles of “real Americans”, I think the fact that she had financial problems drives this message home, she can relate to the rest of us, not like the politicians who have a hefty paycheck from the government and don’t have to worry about money.

Spot on Debra. Direct to candiidate of choice is the only way to get the money where it is needed. The RNC uses a lot of it’s collected revenues for operational expenses, and not for campaigning. We work hard for money and should be able to control what it gets spent on, we don’t get that option with the national committees.

Do you suppose that even Senator Graham has changed his mind?

Senator Graham (R, SC) states that the “Tea Party Movement” is unsustainable. Perhaps, that is just wishful thinking on Senator Graham’s part.

The fact is that it is that either the “Tea Party Movement” or Senator Graham will go the way of the Dodo bird.

A RINO like Senator Graham cannot survive in a nation of citizens that understand that FREEDOM RESULTS IN PROSPERITY AND THAT TYRANNY IS THE ROOT OF POVERTY AND DESPAIR. His statement proves that he understands his peril. Senator Graham’s early support of Cap and Trade proves he is an enemy of individual freedom (Capitalism) and a “Wannabe Peer.” RINOS like Senator Graham are more of a danger to the American Revolution than the admitted tyrants like Obama.

We the people will not yield to the tyranny of King George III even under “new management.”

Democrats have filled Washington DC with representatives with character proplems, who’s to say only Democrats are entitled. The national media is attempting to divide the Republican party. The Tea Party is successful for bring Republicans, Independents, and Democrats together and discussing important issues. Very simple process here, Support the Republician Ticket in November.
