‘Kind of Numb’: Abused Bus Monitor Reacts to Vicious Viral Video

You’ve all seen the horrific video of a bus monitor breaking down in tears as a pack of feral middle schoolers attack her verbally and physically. Now, understandably, that same monitor is calling for those students to face consequences for their cruelty. News 13 WHAM reports:

Karen Klein says she heard students on the school bus call her fat but she tried to ignore it.

She didn’t realize how bad the taunting was until she watched the YouTube video that has sparked outrage.[...]

“I tried to ignore it…I didn’t hear some stuff and tried to shut them out,” Klein said.

Karen Klein, the Bus Monitor Who Was Abused By Her Charges, Speaks Out and Calls For Them to be Punished

Karen Klein

She was horrified and hurt and she wishes she would have done more to stop the students, but felt helpless.

Klein did tell the bus driver and co-workers about the incident but she didn’t think much would come of it.[...]

She believes the students should be punished.

“I don’t know if they can be charged,” Klein said.

Greece Police have interviewed four of the students, but none have been charged yet.

DemocratAndChronicle.com has more:

Thoroughly understandable reaction, and her question about charges is one that many people would probably like an answer to.

These ass wipe, punk ass kids need a good tasering to put them in their places an shock some sense into them. Line them up and let this lady push the bottom if they don’t beg for mercy and forgiveness. Teach them some humility in life … That s what they are lacking and physical punishment will break the of their arrogance

Their parents didn’t teach them one thing about respecting their elders!! Chuldren treat others by watching how their parents treat others.. So either these kids are bullied by Mom and Dad.. or they see their parents bullying others. In anycase these kids unless they get help need serious counseling, along with the parents!

There needs to be a program, much like a military training, that will teach them self respect, and discipline. Alone, none of these kids would behave like this. Ann Coulter has written a book about ‘pack’ or ‘mob’ mentality and this is a good example of it. Didn’t watch the video because the live feed kept playing thru it but will try later or maybe no…. Not to say that this was her fault but she should have stood up for herself verbally. She could have shut those punks up without breaking the rules. She got her $30,000 from an Internet fundraising site, end of story.

More to the point, WHY in the hell has this story been the major headline on The Blaze all day long? There is a constitional crisis going on, the attorney general was held in contempt only hours ago, the POTUS has himself smack dab in the middle of it, and THIS worthless story is the top headline?

More and more, I want to cancel my years long membership to Glenn Beck. The Blaze is failing on so many levels: constant typos, poor quality of stories, worthless news, etc. I find more and more of the stories that matter on Yahoo News and others like it.

Beck and The Blaze are showing the world, in as many aspects of society as is possible, the direction in which it is headed. I, for one, am grateful for their efforts. Maybe, if we don’t blind ourselves to these things and if we see them happening in our own neck of the woods, we will become educated as to their causes and solutions and be motivated to do something about them. Sure, there are seemingly more important problems in the world today, but unless we learn to handle properly these seemingly smaller issues that in reality are more than likely the root causes of those bigger problems, we, as a country are doomed to failure to its fullest extent. It is difficult to deal with the adults of our society because their ways are set, but if we can change and educate the youth of our society for the better, maybe the next generation will be able to dig us out of the hole this generation has seemingly dug for itself. Let us set our minds to that task. Otherwise, we are lost as a nation. If you have a problem with that, then, go ahead, stick your head in that hole. Hope you don’t mind what the rest of the world does to your butt while you are there, ignoring the roots of our problems. Do you see yourself identifying with Karen Klein now? I wonder.

Otherwise I’d be out there bustng my butt in the work force. Forty hour weeks pale in comparison to my life now. It’s not easy staying at home raising children and for that I tip my hat to all of the stay at home parents out there.

As for The Blaze, they just haven’t earned their respect as “media” IMO. Their reporting, while honorable, is juvenile at best. They have some superstars on staff, Will and Buck for example, but when stories like this or constant coverage of S.E. Cupp dominate the front page, there’s a problem. At any rate, I have no problem with this being the “top” story for the day. When hundreds of thousands of people get indignant over punks like this, then action will hopefully follow. If no one in the world cares for this unfortunate lady, there are school districts that would do nothing to follow up. Maybe with this exposure, they will be pressured to do something. Back when I used to homeschool my kids, hte #1 criticism I used to get from other parents: “But there is no socialization!” as if being homeschooled means you live in a box and never leave to interact with other people.

Seeing things like this makes me wish I could STILL homeschool my kids. You can’t protect them from everything, but you can sure as $#!+ make sure you instill the values and teach them to live by a code of honor regardless of what other kids do and thus prepare them for the real world (which, surprisingly, is not at all like the Lord of the Flies version of reality that exists for these kids every day).

This is exactly why I homeschooled my children and am now homeschooling my grandchildren, ranging in age from 1 yr to 13 yrs. We can take them anywhere and people comment on the polite manner in which the children conduct themselves. Respect for others starts being taught very young and children mimic what they see and hear. It started with the parents allowing it at home and it got worse when there was no consequences for thier repugnant actions. With our society it will not be getting better any time soon.

Watch the video; listen to the dialogue. The kids involved can be charged with both verbal assault and physical assault since they touched her person. Since several of them threatened Ms. Klein with physical harm with a knife and vandalism to her home aggravated assault is also a possibility. Punishing acts like this is why we have a juvenile justice system. At a minimum they should be given public service by the local legal system, if not detention time.

Unfortunately, if you spank a kid you will be going to jail. Here’s the thing about capital punishment of any kind: To be effective it has to be so severe that no kid would dare mess up twice. It would need to be a spanking/beating that would leave a massive mental fingerprint just like touching a hot stove would. It would have to stick in their minds throughout childhood and into adulthood; however, I don’t think any beating could have the desired effect (tame, not feral, kids). I don’t have kids, so I don’t know how I would punish them, but whatever the punishment is, it needs to be effective to reform these future felons. I’m not saying physically harm the kids, just make an example out of them.
