Actor Playing Judas Iscariot Hangs Himself By Accident

ITARARE, Brazil — (NewsCore/The Blaze) A Brazilian actor died 16 days after accidentally hanging himself on stage, while playing the part of Judas Iscariot.

Tiago Klimeck, Actor Who Played Judas Iscariot, Dies 16 Days After Overly Realistic Hanging

An autopsy on Tiago Klimeck was underway Monday to pinpoint the exact cause of the 27-year-old’s death, Brazilian broadcaster Globo reported.

Klimeck took part in an Easter Passion play on Good Friday in the southern city of Itarare. The script required the young actor to appear to commit suicide after his character was overcome with guilt about betraying Jesus Christ.

However the special harness he was wearing failed, and strangled him. He was left hanging for around four minutes, with fellow actors at first unaware of his condition.

The Daily Mail describes the scene:

Mr Klimeck was left dangling for four minutes until horrified performers and spectators realised it wasn’t part of his performance and rushed to his aid.

Pictures show the actor taking part in the play before the incident in which he was suffocated.

He can then be seen on set hanging from the rope moments before the cast and audience realise a real life tragedy is unfolding.

Klimeck, who remained in a coma following the accident on April 6, died Sunday afternoon.

Investigators are examining the harness and other safety equipment from the theater.

Poor Judas… as I read it… he believed that Christ was the Son of GOD… more than anyone else. And, he set Christ up… to pressure him to be King of Israel and bring about the Kingdom of GOD on Eearth. So, he believed that Christ could not be Killed… and he would perform Miracles to destroy the Romans!

      Just another Point of View!

This isn’t the first time someone portraying Judas in a play accidentally hanged himself. A long time ago, I heard of another case of a guy accidentally hanging himself, but he survived.

If that is the case, Lukerw, it was unwise for Judas to completely miss the message of Matthew 16:21-23.

Jesus’ interaction with Satanic thought are worthy of study. In one case He said, “Get thee behind me,” and in another he said, “What thou doest, do quickly.”

If you didn‘t see that Judas repented then you don’t know the Gospels. Also Jesus told the disciples it was none of their business what happened to Judas and what was it to them if he was still here when Jesus returned? Only evil people who still haven‘t realized what that Jesus is alive are the ones who are looking for the guilty part and they still don’t know what repentance is. Judas returning the money was his act of repentance.

Matthew 27:3-4 King James Version (KJV)

3Then Judas, which had betrayed him, when he saw that he was condemned, repented himself, and brought again the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders,

4Saying, I have sinned in that I have betrayed the innocent blood. And they said, What is that to us? see thou to that.

I simply speak what I know about My Merciful Father. When one repents (returns) He returns to them. If you are looking for the guilty part of Jesus’ death then look in the mirror for you do not know salvation yet. Those who look for the guilty party are the guilty party.

John 21:20-22 King James Version (KJV)

20Then Peter, turning about, seeth the disciple whom Jesus loved following; which also leaned on his breast at supper, and said, Lord, which is he that BETRAYTH thee?

21Peter seeing him saith to Jesus, Lord, and what shall this man do?

22Jesus saith unto him, If I will that he tarry till I come, WHAT IS THAT TO THEE? follow thou me.

      @Thomas

There is no question that God is merciful, but to say that Judas repented and received mercy is twisting scripture dangerously. First of all, when Matthew 27:3 records that Judas repented himself, it does not mean that he plead the blood of Jesus over his sins to receive forgiveness. As it says, he was under condemnation. Therefore, his repentance was simply an act of going back on his original intent to keep the money. Even if you do interpret this as meaning that he repented and was forgiven, you seem to have completely left out the part where he killed himself, and act for which you CANNOT seek forgiveness.

Secondly, John 21 has nothing to do with Judas. The beloved disciple, John, was asking Jesus what was to be done with Peter, the one who betrayed the Lord by denying him three times. It has nothing to do with Judas.

I am all for making the case for God’s wonderful and abundant mercy, but not by twisting scripture as you seem to be doing.

I don’t think Judas killed himself. The other disciples had no way of knowing what really happened to him. They were still vindictive against him. There is no condemnation that cannot be done away with repentance. None. God’s anger and wrath is not part of His Eternal heart and therefore repentance is always possible unless you have died in you sins. As long as one lives they can repent.

Judas repented and was forgiven. In case you didn’t know. The other disciples gave their opinion on what happened to Judas but it obvious their words rooted in vengeance because of the death of Jesus as if Jesus didn’t mean what he said. They were also on a journey of discovery and should not be taken dogmatically as religious theology has so willing done.

Don’t you just love how people make up their own stories about what happened in the Bible when the Bible NEVER says it? There is never an indication that Judas repented and was forgiven. The Bible even says it would have been better for him had he never been born. Does this make any sense to anybody?

      @Thomas.
Ironic that your name is Thomas since you should doubt that claim.

      Matthew Chp 26:
24The Son of man goeth as it is written of him: but woe unto that man by whom the Son of man is betrayed! it had been good for that man if he had not been born.
25Then Judas, which betrayed him, answered and said, Master, is it I? He said unto him, Thou hast said.

You might want to go re-read your Bible. The Bible explicitly says Judas went to hell. There were 2 Judas’ in the group of diciples. The traitor and the the other Judas.

Where does it say in the Bible Judas went to hell?

I thought the Bible says ‘the dead know not anything’.

And why would Jesus raise Lazarus from the dead after a few days if Lazarus ”went to heaven?

Wouldn’t that have been a great opportunity for Christ to tell his friends that Lazarus went to heaven and describe the things Lazarus was doing in heaven?

And think of Lazarus’ position; Christ raises Lazarus from the dead – in other words, Christ yanks Lazarus back down from heaven to dwell on this earth? What kind of God would do that?

Just one of the reasons that when you die you die (no consciousness). You remain in the grave until Christ’s second coming – the raising of the just (the saved). Then after the 1000 years millennium (while Satan is bound to a desolate earth) Christ returns to the earth – the unjust are raised and will bow down before Christ and acknowledge that Christ is just. Then Christ will destroy the wicked along with Satan in the lake of fire. No one will be suffering for eternity – it will be as if they don’t exist anymore.

RJ, it really isn’t that simple. Google how many temperature records were broken in March in the US alone. Climate change is real and you need to look at extremes like polar ice melt off and rising sea levels. It involves hard science and not just one person looking out their window at the daily weather.

i did play the part of Jesus(i had long hair at the time and was asked 2 months before the play so i let a full beard grow) in a passion play. the cross was set on a pulley to be lifted, then turned to face they audience. when the cross came unhooked and fell first hitting the stage i tried to stop myself but was unable as i was tied to the cross, and barefooted. i hit the ground with the full weight of the cross slamming into my back i blacked out, but for only a few minuets. i had a concussion but refused to go to the hospital so i could do the play the next afternoon.
if you look at all the actors who have ever played Jesus, they all tell of mishap stories. i told my Mom and Dad(the later was a Pastor for 40 years) that i am convinced Jesus says if your going to portray my suffering, then you’re gonna get a small dose of what i went through.
i told the Pastor/director and all the cast members “please don’t tell my Dad about this. he always said i was hard headed(i landed on my head) and this will only prove he’s right” LOL
