Actress Ellen Barkin Curses Out Cop For ‘Pushing’ Her During OWS Arrests on NYE

Actress Ellen Barkin stood in solidarity with Occupy Wall Street on New Year’s Eve, but when a cop tried to get Ms. Barkin to stand on the sidewalk, she cursed him out in person and then took to Twitter to vent more rage at the NYPD.
“Get your motherf–king hands off me,” she snapped back at a polite request and gentle hand on the back from a young NYPD officer. Her screenwriter boyfriend Sam Levinson apparently recorded and posted the video to YouTube.
The New York Post has more on the incident (and if you haven’t picked up on it already, content warning for language applies):
“Tony-winning actress Ellen Barkin rang in the new year in her typical brash style — uncorking a profanity-laced Twitter tirade against the NYPD and Mayor Bloomberg after watching the predawn arrests of suspected Occupy Wall Street scofflaws near her West Village townhouse.”
The actress then took to Twitter to make her thoughts on NYC’s Mayor Bloomberg and the NYPD clear:
There were also reports that Barkin initially insisted she herself had been “threatened” and “shoved” by an officer — which is something you will have to watch and judge for yourself, as the video seems to tell a different tale.

After some sites, including HuffPo, picked up the initial allegations of rough treatment, Barkin seems to have backed away from earlier accusations and anti-police profanity.
Here is a more recent tweet from her on the ‘shoving’ incident, in which she even takes a swipe at massive blog site Huffington Post’s journalistic integrity:
While Barkin apparently embraces the Occupy Wall Street mantra of representing the “99%,” she is very much of member of the 1%, thanks in large part to an ex-husband. Barkin reportedly received a $40 million settlement from her divorce from Revlon Chairman Ron Perelman.
The NYPD, meanwhile, made 68 arrests of OWS Occupiers after they tried to retake Zuccotti Park on New Year’s Eve and then paraded around lower Manhattan streets.

It is totally amazing that the Hollywood elite, who gained their fortunes in the capitalist system making make believe movies and selling tickets to hard working Americans, would turn their backs on the very system that made them what they are and gave them what they have.

She turns up for an hour or so, pretends to be “down with the struggle”, makes sure she gets involved in the police activity (because all good hippies have to confront the police at some point) and afterwards leaves for the comfort of her “1%” lifestyle…while the societal debris that is OWS gets arrested. She’s not to be taken seriously.

My assumption is that she‘s so filthy rich that she has absolutely no bearing concerning the actual value of money as she’s never had to deal with managing it personally, and if she actually took a look at her taxes and saw the tax amount for her tax bracket category she’d poop herself.
