Afghan Koran Burning Protest Leads to Violence and Gunfire

Five protesters and two police were injured when a group of Muslims protesting a Florida pastor’s possible Koran burning stormed a NATO compound in Afghanistan.
According to CBS News, there are also reports that up to three people have been killed in the altercation, but those reports are yet to be confirmed.
Here’s how the event unfolded:
Brig. Gen. Hussain Safawy, the acting police chief of Badakhshan, told CBS News’ Fazul Rahim that a peaceful protest march after Friday prayers at the local Mosque turned tense as the demonstrators reached the German-controlled base.
Safawy said protesters broke down the first perimeter gate surrounding the base and beat Afghan security guards and police on duty with sticks. The police fired warning shots in the air before allegedly receiving fire from the direction of the crowd.
Police officers then returned fire, Safawy said. Five protesters and two police were injured in the melee, but Safawy was unable to confirm media reports that as many as three protesters were killed in the gunfire.
According to the report, German troops never got involved.

Let’s declare a Religious “Open House” Day where ALL, non-taxpaying, declared places of worship open their doors for people of all faths to visit other places of worship in their communities. Open the doors, welcome the community. Open ALL the doors, the basement doors, the sub basement doors, the secret doors that don’t appear on the original site drawings/blueprints. What I want know is, how do they know. Afghanistan is a poor country and only a small majority can speak English or have access to the internet, but the word of this spread like wild fire. I bet if we asked the protesters what they werer protesting they most of them couldn’t tell you.

We are in a Holy War, even if only in the minds of the enemy. Keep in mind that Islam is system of laws, financial and political systems in the guise of religion. Read the Koran, the Haddith and the other texts that define Islam and you will understand. Research the concept of ‘abrogation’ as applied to the Koran. Also, do not rely on US news to get the real picture, even Fox News…read the overseas news, including in the Arab world and the Far East.
While we are offended by one man burning the Koran, Bibles are confiscated at foreign ports and destroyed as ‘contraband;’ those caught with them are imprisoned (at best).
While we discuss our progress (or lack thereof) on equal rights for women, an estimated 85 % of the women jailed in Pakistan are there for being raped without being able to produce 4 male Muslims to corroborate the claim.
While we argue over the effects of violent video games on our children, Islamic countries have theirs write and recite Jihadist death poetry in school.
While our children watch Barney and Sesame Street, their children watch a girl in fatigues call for Jihad and impose a Sharia punishment on a Bugs Bunny-like character.
While we debate the location of the Shrine To The Magnificent 19 (Mosque at GZ), churches are burned, Bibles desecrated and Pastors beaten and jailed. Saudi Arabia has funding the building of numerous mosques in this country (we went from ~600 pre-9/11 to over 6,000 now) and Whahabbi Imams are in our jails converting prisoners to Islam.
You might want to check on the UN, too. In response to the Universal Declaration Of Human Rights, there is now a Universal Islamic Declaration Of Human Rights; these two declarations are diametrically opposed on key principles. To add insult to injury, Iran was appointed to the Council on Women’s Rights. Moreover, the UN has banned criticism of Sharia Law and Islamic Human Rights, as well as ‘defamatory’ comments against Islam. As a result, no real discussions on slavery (including the modern sex slave trade), child marriage, pedophilia, female circumcision, etc. can take place in the UN, leaving it more impotent than ever.
The Stealth Jihad is well underway in the West – look to the UK to see where we will be in 10 years.

What about the peaceful moderates who murdered 17 and wounded 133 in Russia yesterday, anyone know what their jihad du jour was all about?

Posted on September 10, 2010 at 12:09pmThe United States of America is under absolutely no Constitutional obligation whatsoever to tolerate any ideology that promotes violence and is, by its very nature, opposed to Constitutional Freedom. Why should we think that the doctrine of religious freedom applies to those who have at their core a burning hatred for that very doctrine?
I am someone who believes the Bible is very clear about the religion that is approved and accepted by God. But that doesn’t mean I want to forbid, by force of law and/or death penalty, people from practicing whatever religion they want.
Christian doctrine is to teach through love and compassion. Whereas Muslim doctrine is conversion by the sword – either convert or die. That kind of ideology cannot function in a free society that values religious freedom.
The only way Muslims can function under the Constitution of the United States of America is to give up some of their core beliefs. If they are willing to acclimate and conform to a peaceful society that values the rights of the individual then they have every right of religious freedom this Country affords. However, if they show that they are unwilling to conform, as many have shown themselves to be, then they have, nor should they expect to receive, any tolerance of religious freedom whatsoever.
Any rational person understand that just anything cannot be protected under the guise of religious freedom. What if a religion has the belief that sex with children is a holy act? Should they be free to practice their religion? Of course not! No sane person would try to argue that they should have the right to do that because we live in a country with religious freedom. Why then should we be expected to tolerate Islam when its core beliefs are diametrically apposed to the very ideals of American freedoms?

Of course we’re not supposed to harbor people who attack the United States of America. But I don’t exactly see our cities burning to the ground in the hatred of a Muslim uprising here either. Muslims in America are generally peaceful and follow our laws. If they don’t, they’re dealt with accordingly, just like any other person is.
Besides, please keep in mind that there is a pastor, a person who stands for Christian ideals which should be teaching through love and compassion as you say yourself, burning objects very dear to their faith.
Muslims in America can live very well following their beliefs. You have to separate their faith and the customs of some third world country that so often get mixed up.
Muslims in America don’t mutilate the genitalia of little girls. Muslims in America don’t keep boys as sex toys. Muslims in America don’t stone people to death. They play by the rules. They don’t take the barbaric customs of their original countries with them. They try to keep their heads down when the whole country is calling them the enemy no matter what they do.
If they keep silent people accuse them of quietly agreeing with the radicals of their religion. If they speak up people say it’s in their religion to lie to the unbeliever. You tell me, what can they do? There were even some protest marches of Muslims protesting terrorism and Islamic radicalism. But nobody saw them because those things get no air time.

Anyone with any common sense isn’t going to try to invade an armed compound. Angry or not, even rightfully angry, or even just wanting some excuse to destroy things, stupidity shall be punished. But injuring police officers doing their jobs, injuring “their own” as some would put it. Just plain idiocy.

If he has taken the books from someone, he should repent of the theft and return them.
If he bought them in order to burn them, then he is stupid. He could have accomplished his point by burning pieces of scrap paper that say “Koran” on the outside.
I could personally say that I don’t see why Muslims are upset over this, but I have been paying attention over the past ten years and I know that many of them are irrational.
