After Escaping, Alleged Libyan Gang-Rape Victim Beaten and Deported Back to Libya

A Libyan woman who captured global attention this past spring when she claimed that Gadhafi’s security forces gang-raped her finds herself back in harm’s way. On Thursday, after escaping Libya and arriving safely in Qatar, Eman al-Obeidy and her parents were deported back to Libya. CNN has more:
In the hours leading to her deportation, armed guards had been posted outside her hotel room, preventing a representative from the U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees from helping her, al-Obeidy told CNN. The U.N. agency had prepared papers for her departure from Qatar to begin a new life.
Al-Obeidy said Qatari authorities then took her and her parents from the Kempinski Residences & Suites in the Qatari capital. She said she was beaten and handcuffed, then forced onto a military plane to Libya.

Fortunately, al-Obeidy is currently in a rebel-held area in Libya, though human rights activists and the U.S. State Department, alike, fear for her safety. After making her story widely known and planning and implementing an elaborate escape, al-Obeidy finds herself back where she originally started.

Posted on June 3, 2011 at 10:58pmPray for this woman, if you pray. Don’t assume she is Mislim. Christian women in Islamic countries wear the covering to blemd in and avoid trouble. Muslims men would be particularly disposed to humiliatimg a Christian woman just because of her religion.

Where is the compassion of any so-called free country? This is an example of the lack of worth or value the “peace loving” Muslims accord women taken to a horrible extreme. Let us rise above such evil and deplore such actions. Let us provide sanctuary to anyone abused and persecuted by the politically or physically strong simply because the abusers have the power. Question: where is Jimmy Carter, Cynthia McKinney, our State Department, et al on this?

Posted on June 3, 2011 at 10:07pmMuslim men will bomb and shoot and stab each other for their individual cause or tribe, but they can all unite around keeping the women in subjection. The crime to them isn’t that she was raped, the crime is that she told the world about it and shamed muslim men. Next they will just say that it was a standard virginity check like the ones the Egyptian Army gives out for free, and this woman just misunderstood.
I don’t know how the world can turn a blind eye to the abuse of women and children in muslim countries…. it’s heartbreaking.

However, we can still have compassion in our hearts for this poor woman who was no chance of prosperity in her part of the world. That is someone’s daughter for crying out loud. America was at her greatest when we had compassion for all. If we want to fix our country then it starts in our own hearts.

Soon after this Libya action started, I viewed several videos of the rebel’s treatment of any Libyan soldiers who had tried to surrender. Many of them were tortured and slaughtered.
There are no good guys there. They are all godless savages.

My entire family would welcome her family with open arms, and help her get what ever assistance they need to become a U.S. citizen. The easiest way to defeat these radical muslims is to remove all the women and children from the country so they cannot reproduce. They hate women, all they are to them is wombs for male offspring. So do them a favor and take them all away. Those women would surely qualify under religious persecution and humanitarian umbrellas. Seek asylum here. I bet there are a multitude of honest hard working muslims in this country that would be willing to help them assimilate into our culture. I am talking about moderate non radical non terroristic muslims.
