After Hitting Scott Brown on Buffett Rule Opposition, Elizabeth Warren Admits She Didnt Pay Higher Taxes

Senate challenger Elizabeth Warren opted not to voluntarily pay higher taxes to the state of Massachusetts, prompting Republican Sen. Scott Brown to label her a hypocrite after she blasted his opposition to President Barack Obama’s “Buffett rule.”

Warren, a Democrat, said Friday she didn’t pay a higher income tax rate on her Massachusetts tax return. The state gives taxpayers the option of paying 5.85 percent, rather than the standard 5.3 percent rate.

“I paid my taxes and I did not make a charitable contribution to the state,’’ Warren said, according to the Associated Press.

Warren criticized Brown for voting against the so-called Buffett rule last week, which would have required millionaires to pay at least 30 percent of their income in taxes. In a statement, Brown’s campaign said Warren, the first director of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, was essentially refusing to put her money where her mouth is.

“The problem with running a campaign based on self-righteousness and moral superiority is that you had better live up to the same standard you would impose on everyone else,” Brown campaign manager Jim Barnett said. “Millionaire Warren lectures others about their obligation and responsibility to pay higher taxes, but she refuses to pay the optional higher rate available in Massachusetts.”

Barnett called it the “sort of hypocrisy and double-speak voters are sick and tired of hearing from politicians, especially those who can’t keep their hands out of others’ pocketbooks.”

Brown’s campaign said he too opted not to pay Massachusetts higher tax rate, according to the AP.

      I don’t keep up with Mass Politics, but Scott Brown better wipe the floor of this commie. A referendum on the Commie left is to vote against the Commie Warren and Soros Witch hunt on Scott Walker in Wisconsin.

      MASS and Wisconsin = Job 1 and Getting rid of the Disastrous Commie in November is Job 2. Hold the House and Take over the Senate is Job 3.

      All three Jobs Must happen to further shellack these Commie’s.

      Apples and oranges, the Buffet rule is about the federal income tax. 5.3% is already more state tax than a lot of people pay. You will never get really rich people to pay much in state taxes, because they can own multiple homes and claim any one of them as their primary residence for tax purposes.

      It’s only about the image of them saying they want the rich to pay their taxes.

      If it was truly about getting the rich to pay taxes, the “Buffet rule” should be a rule to make Buffet pay the back taxes that he is fighting against paying.

The Liberal is the neighbor who complains about everyone else and makes all the other neighbors want to move. Pay attention to your surroundings. You can always spot them. The brainwashing is done on crowds, usually within college classrooms, but sometimes at home. That’s why they all look, smell, walk and talk the same. They are taught that they are a higher class human and don’t need to be held to the same standards as the rest of us.       Ronald Reagan spoke about a man, like Buffet, like Gates, who had the moral conviction that he should not be paying a lower tax rate than his secretary. Watch the video, it’s just over a minute long. Did President Reagan mock this man and call him a communist? Did he say he should simply send the government money if he felt guilty? No, he held him out as a loyal American and used this man’s comments as the justification for closing loopholes and raising taxes on millionaires (which he did to help address the deficit), something today most millionaires support and most Americans support.

      Of course in the political climate today, even Reagan is a communist. And Republican aren’t about to raise taxes on those people who keep them in office, no matter what Americans and millionaires think.

      Is it because he is a disingenuous liberal?

      Shouldn’t the government first prove that they can be responsible stewards of our hard earned money BEFORE they ask for more of it? Can you say……..GSA? (Tip of the ice burg)

      Please tell us exactly how much revenue the Buffet rule would generate, and tell us how many hours wotrth of Obama spending that money would pay for. Did you ever see a comparison picture of the earth, against the sun? Sure you have. That’s probably a good analogy.

      Please think about it. We are the 99% who earn less than $500,000 yearly… OK? I am sure everyone reading this can agree 99% of congressman/woman & senators are worth more than $1 million, right? So, if the Dems are in favor and fighting for the Buffet rule to increase their own taxes and the Repubs are absolutely against it – which party do you see is willing to sacrifice their some of their own wealth for the betterment of regular Americans? I have opinions on many topics like many of you, but 8 years of bush, massive tax breaks when we should have continued the Clinton tax policies when we had LOTS of jobs and great prosperity (remember??). Two wars with budgets where Iraq spent approximately $1 BILLION every 2 DAYS! Can you imagine what that would be doing in our school systems, for our fire and police departments, for our education systems, for Medicare and many other WORTHY programs??!! I know both parties have crooks & people with different sex interests. But, is rehashing 40+ year old issues like contraception (comprehensive coverage already available in 28 states); abortion (legal nationally since 1976); gay rights (which are only equal to rights of any other two adults)? These are distractions while the XL pipeline sounds wonderful (can only create 5-7,000 temporary jobs and poses pollution problems which have costed over TEN TIMES the rate of the BP issue & still keeps a river closed in Ohio). Please ask yourself do tax breaks for someone else help you?

    What a great gotcha moment! Liberals are so unused to being challenged on what they say. They never reason that their own words will condemn them personally.

    She and her campaign likely thought that Brown would respond with a typical conservative lecture involving facts, figures, and honesty. Basically the stuff that gets out on page 12 D of the newspaper if it’s reported on at all.

    Instead we get a solid punch to the gut and a roundhouse kick to the head! Then we have that OUTSTANDING! statement by Brown’s Campaign manager (The guy is a friggen genius):

      I‘m glad you mentioned God’s blessings in your post about earth day. Stewardship of the earth and it’s resources is biblical, however, “worship” of the earth is “pagan” and in conflict with the 1st commandment, “Thow shall have no other gods before me”. I know how important stewardship of the earth is, most farmers practice it every day.

    This is an interesting article. Back a few years and this would never have reached the light of day. The progressive media will never report the hypocrisy of one of theirs.
    They would have instead reported her bashing of her opponent, for not paying more, while hiding or praising her own payments.

    There just might be a chance that Barry will not have enough moochers and liars to carry him to victory in November.

      Think the characteristic that all of these groups share is their anger. So much rage out there in the world today. The Mullahs, the “social justice aka revenge ” set, the Far Left, the radicals, the Taliban, the al Qaeda, our so-called Democrats, Al, Jesse, the NBPP ….. they are all filled with rage which is dysfunctional, and ultimately destructive . Love may be ” the answer,” but hate / anger is the current fashionable emotion.

    Warren is just another communist pig,problem is Brown is a RINO and it seems like a recurring theme in American politics,we have a choice between a communist or a RINO.We need to end the one party system in this country ASAP.
