Ahmadinejad Predicts: Mideast Unrest Coming to America

TEHRAN, Iran (AP) — Iran’s president said Wednesday he is certain the wave of unrest in the Middle East will spread to Europe and North America, bringing an end to governments he accused of oppressing and humiliating people.
Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, whose own country resorted to violence to disperse an opposition rally earlier this month, also condemned Libya’s use of force against demonstrators, calling it “grotesque.”
Iran’s hard-line leaders have sought to claim some credit for the uprisings in Arab nations, saying it is evidence that its 1979 Islamic Revolution, which ousted the U.S.-backed shah, is being replayed.
The embattled movement calling for social and political reforms in Iran has labeled that view hypocritical – and to prove it they tried to stage their own rallies in solidarity with the anti-government protests in Egypt last week. Clashes between security forces and demonstrators left at least two people dead and dozens injured.
“The world is on the verge of big developments. Changes will be forthcoming and will engulf the whole world from Asia to Africa and from Europe to North America,” Ahmadinejad told a news conference Wednesday.
The tone of the remarks seemed to draw on the belief by Shiite Muslims that a revered ninth century saint known as the Hidden Imam, will reappear before judgment day to end tyranny and promote justice in the world.
Ahmadinejad said the world was in need of a just system of rule that “puts an end to oppression, occupation and humiliation of people.”
“It‘s a wave that’s coming,” he said.
Even while denying his own opponents the right to demonstrate, the president urged Libya‘s Moammar Gadhafi to heed his peoples’ demands. He sharply criticized Libya’s leaders for their use of force.
“This is very grotesque. It is unimaginable that there is someone who kills and bombards his own people. I strongly advise them to let nations have their say and meet their nations’ demands if they claim to be the officials of those nations,” Ahmadinejad said.
“Of course anyone who does not heed the demands of his own nation will have a clear fate,” he added.
Iranian police and paramilitary groups brutally put down protests on their own streets after Ahmadinejad’s disputed re-election in 2009. The opposition claims the vote was rigged and hundreds of thousands of protesters poured into the streets, posing the most serious challenge to Iran’s ruling system since the 1979 revolution.
The opposition says more than 80 demonstrators were killed in the crackdown. The government puts the number of confirmed deaths at 30.
The opposition has compared the uprisings in Egypt, Tunisia, Libya and elsewhere to its own campaign for change.
Mir Hossein Mousavi, who claims to have been the real victor in the 2009 vote, said last month that Iran’s protest movement was the starting point and that all popular protests in the Middle East aimed at ending the “oppression of the rulers.”
Mousavi and Iran’s other senior opposition leader, Mahdi Karroubi, have been under house arrest since earlier this month after they called their supporters to attend the Feb. 14 rally.
Security forces also raided Karroubi’s house, locking him and his wife in separate rooms and confiscating books and documents, according to Karroubi’s website.

It’s very simple, coordinate your message with a popular American political commentator, by either criticizing the jewel of American dot com corporations or suggest that a North American insurrection will topple unpopular governments.
Mr Beck will now echo and amplify these messages and America’s enemies win the PR battle.

Posted on February 24, 2011 at 9:37amMs. Karenkat, I think you’re missing my point. These are America’s enemies in the case of Iran and America’s adversaries in the case of Russia. They will use any opportunity presented to win the PR war against the US. So they are who we think they are. So any political commentator who echoes their message has zero credibility since America’s enemies are almost always wrong.
As for Mr. Hismeister, we have unions here. Canadian Auto Workers (CAW), the SEIU, the Ontario Public Sector Union (OPSU). Our politicians would never try to take away their collective bargaining rights since there would be no public support for that.
If you think the current Union protests are an insurrection you clearly don’t know the history of labour in the US. Below are some examples of huge protests and strikes much bigger than the current situation, and I would not categorize the past incidents as insurrections.
The United Mine Workers under John L. Lewis announced a strike for November 1, 1919. They had agreed to a wage agreement to run until the end of World War I and now sought to capture some of their industry’s wartime gains. Attorney General A. Mitchell Palmer invoked the Lever Act, a wartime measure that made it a crime to interfere with the production or transportation of necessities. The law, meant to punish hoarding and profiteering, had never been used against a union. Certain of united political backing and with the perception of public support, Palmer obtained an injunction on October 31 and 400,000 coal workers struck the next day.
The 1920s marked a period of decline for the labor movement. In 1919, more than 4 million workers (or 21 percent of the labor force) participated in about 3,600 strikes. In contrast, 1929 witnessed about 289,000 workers (or 1.2 percent of the labor force) stage only 900 strikes. Union membership and activities fell sharply in the face of economic prosperity, a lack of leadership within the movement, and anti-union sentiments from both employers and the government.
With the end of the war in August 1945 came a wave of major strikes, mostly led by the CIO. In November the UAW sent their 180,000 GM workers to the picket lines; they were joined in January 1946 by a half-million steelworkers, as well as over 200,000 electrical workers and 150,000 packinghouse workers. Combined with many smaller strikes a new record of strike activity was set. The results were mixed, with the unions making some gains, but the economy was disordered by the rapid termination of war contracts, the complex reconversion to peactime production, the return to the labor force of 12 million servicemen, and the return home of millions of women workers. The conservative control of Congress blocked liberal legislation, and “Operation Dixie,” the CIO’s efforts to expand massively into the South, failed.

Posted on February 23, 2011 at 9:11amHe’s right. Political unrest is coming to America. We have certainly had it before in the 60s and the 30s for example. America has endured those times and if Americans rededicate themselves to the founding principles of this country, we will endure this. However, most Americans, particularly the young, dont know what those principles are and that is the danger. We must tell our kids about the greatness of this country and how it turned the world order of divine right, kings and peasants on its head or otherwise the world will be flipped again and revert to rulers and ruled, aristocracy and serfdom. The final irony is that the “new world order” is actually a reprise of the old world order only this time the people, having been deceived, will embrace their servitude thinking it is freedom. When Beck says this stuff is evil, he has hit the nail on the head. It is clear our struggle is not against men.

Of course, the rest of the sane world would reach the far more obvious conclusion: that Ahmedinajad are both nutjobs who use crazy conspiracy theories to rile up their fanatic followers.

Posted on February 23, 2011 at 12:46pm@Gonzo – Was just going to say the same thing. He‘s just repeating what Glenn’s been saying. In a way, he is paying homage to Glenn. Come on Glenn. Get Ahmadinejad to say, “I’m a sick twisted freak!” It could happen.

Posted on February 23, 2011 at 1:51pm@ PPMAN……I see your point and I think maybe just maybe you have stumbled across something here lets evaluate……Crazy lunatic nut-job radical leader who wants to usher in 12th Imam by encouraging uprising and bloodshed trying desperately to obtain nuclear weapons. And crazy ole GB who through vast research and facts suggests something maybe happening in the world we might want to consider on a nightly TV show that only apparently dumb stupid people watch (so obviously that is a dangerous man….. right there). Yep right on the money once again PPMAN. I certainly think we at the Blaze website sure owe a debt of gratitude for your marvelous insights that keeps us informed and educated about the real world. Thank you. And keep up the good work .

Posted on February 23, 2011 at 2:47pmWatchtheOtherHand,
You make some good points there, but you ahve some big errors there. For example, doesn‘t it seem odd that Beck’s “vast research and facts” all seem to fit on a small chalkboard?
But I concede your main point: Ahmadinejad is a dangerous player on the world stage, while Beck is petty, pointless and insignificant to anyone outside his Beckbot following. I very much agree, despite the fact that I spend too much time on this site arguing with all of you!

Posted on March 6, 2011 at 7:52pmGo on facebook and look up Deharmender Singh see how many there are with that name. If the usa is going to let them into the usa they should have something like Allan Deharmender Singh Bob , Carl, dave, Earl , Frank, George, so that the identification is accurate and they can’t keep using the same ID to bring more and more into the state. The american name should be first on their ID followed by their Middle East Name. I would bet there are other names like this and I can see why they do it.USA better take note of this.
