Ahmadinejad Urges Girls to Marry at 16

TEHRAN, Iran (AP) — Iranian newspapers are reporting that President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has urged girls to marry at the age of 16.

The president criticized the current average age of marriage of between 24 and 26.

The Sunday report by the state-owned Jam-e Jam quoted Ahmadinejad as saying “we should take the age of marriage for boys to 20 and for girls to about 16 and 17.”

Other newspapers quoted the president as putting the best ages for marriage of girls at 17 or 18.

There was no explanation on the discrepancy, which is typical for Iranian media.

Ahmadinejad has long sought an increase of population, rejecting family planning as Western import.

Critics say the policy will only exacerbate to the current 9 percent official unemployment rate.

    The reason is that female camels are just not much fun after 16. They tend to sit around the tent and just fart all day. Dating young camels is much more fun for them.

    The customs of the Arabs in certain sections of Bible lands when they negotiate to secure a bride for their son, illustrate in many respects Biblical practices. If a young man has acquired sufficient means to make it possible for him to provide a marriage dowry, then his parents select a girl and the negotiations begin. The father calls in a man who acts as a deputy for him and the son. this deputy is called, “the friend of the bridegroom” by John the Baptist (John 3:29). This man is fully informed as to the dowry the young man is willing to pay for his bride. then, together with the young man’s father, or some other male relative, or both, he goes to the home of the young women. The father announces that the deputy will speak for the party, and then the bride’s father will appoint a deputy to represent him. Before the negotiations begin, a drink of coffee is offered the visiting group, but they refuse to drink until the mission is completed. Thus Abraham’s servent, when offered food by the parents of Rebekah, said, ” I will not eat, until I have told my errand” (Gen. 24:33}. When the two deputies face each other, then the negotiations begin in earnest. There must be consent for the hand of the young women and agreement on the amount of dowry to be paid for her. When these are agreed apon, the deputies rise and their congratulations are exchanged, and then coffee is brought in, and they all drink of it as a seal of the covenant thus entered into.

    perhaps those on here are too young to remember how we were told NOT to have so many kids as we were OVERPOPULATING the country.
    Maybe the list one gave on here for birth rates and races is a direct result of the above statement and people with pride do NOT have more kids than they can feed WITHOUT WELFARE.

    AS for Pres. TOm….I could care less what his ants do IN THEIR COUNTRY.

    This was the norm not that long ago here… except that it was by choice, not forced doctrine. Now 16 year old girls and 18 year old boys in this country are too young and immature to be married, but apparently not too young to have babies out of wedlock. As our country has “matured” the age of marriage has been raised to whatever is deemed acceptable, & the number of children a couple has is everyone’s intrusive business (…no more than 1 or 2 or you’re a right wing nut case). Psychosis is right. We are destroying our own population.

    In America it was not uncommon for women to marry in their teens not so long ago. My wifes grandmothers were both married at 15 and 16. Whem life expectancy was lower tour life began earlier and these folks all began working at a very early age on farms. This was to build the population and as Christian teaching to be fruitful and multiply. It is no surprise that the Iranians want to do the same thing but for a different reason. Americans procreated to build a great country. The Iranian wants his people to breed us out of existence. Mohammed was the #1 name for male births in Great Britain last year.

      My grandmother married at 16, faked her age for legal marriage. She is still married to this day, and she‘s in her 70’s. 18 is just the number we set in America, some people are more mature before, some after, it’s an average I feel. I’m not advocating changing that age at all, just showing an example.

      But I find it easy to guess the whole point behind this is to subdue women’s influence at 16, keeping them in the household to raise children, increasing population, rather than encouraging them to seek their individual dreams.

      Is this Iranian unemployment or American? This was what I found most controversial about the article, oddly.

      I know. Things were way more decent many years ago. Today, they say that girls at 16 are too young to marry but it is alright to give them condoms and let them have sex outside marriage. What a crock of twisted thinking!! I am sure that the mother of Jesus was only around 15 also. If God did not intend for women of that age to have children, he would not have their bodies go through the change to make them fertile.

    And that is why we see the population ratio numbers of the westernized populous falling dramatically against those of the middle eastern populous. Then this from Ahmadinejad only looks to increase the disparity… Conqueror the world by overpopulating it, and allowing socialized countries pay for it.

      Here in AZ on the Apache reservation there was a man who raped several 16yr old girls and was caught by them. It took about two weeks before anyone got around to reporting where his carcas had been ‘discovered’ staked out to an anthill and coated with honey in the summer sun.

      This man was part of the Tyson family in the late 70s who’s escape terrorised the Phoenix area for several months.

      Maybe Ahmadinejad (a mouthful of a name) could have the same done to him for encouraging this done to children; and feed what is left of his carcass to the pigs.

      Iran won a seat through a backdoor method, a “default appointment” rather than an open floor council vote.

      Nonetheless, those Iranian boys are right smart and offer solutions to many problems, such as earthquakes. Over in Iran, cleric Hojatoleslam Kazem Sedighi enlightens all of us,

      “Many women who do not dress modestly … lead young men astray, corrupt their chastity and spread adultery in society, which increases earthquakes.”

      There you go. Iran has solved this problem of earthquakes. Women simply need to wear burqas.

      I don’t know about the ant hill and honey thing but I do know you would be surprised by the number of bad boys killed on Indian lands. This is a result of the feds not allowing tribal police to enforce any law above a misdemeanor level, and a result of the feds refusing to enforce felony laws on Indian lands.

      Our lands are tens of millions of acres, quite easy for a person to simply vanish. I would not be surprised to learn some of those dead Mexican drug cartel boys invading our lands have arrows through their heads.

      An unfortunate result of the feds turning our lands into lawless lands is my peoples have no choice but to take the law into our own hands. Our pragmatic solution for criminals is to kill them. You white folks should try this, very effective.

      Reminds me of an incident up in Washington state. A tribe up there became angry with a drug dealer, feds would not help. This tribe burnt down his house and ran his drug dealing ass off their lands. This tribe displayed mercy.

      This further reminds me of my childhood. Bunch of us kids watched a Choctaw woman choke her abusive drunkard husband to death, then toss his body on railroad tracks to have a train sweep away the mess. He needed killing.

      Our local county sheriff, a white boy name McKinney, handled this well. He made arrangements to have the boy’s body removed and buried. No questions ever asked, closed his case, “He needed killing.”

      Psychosis, what you’re writing is bull. And I mean that generally (everything you ever write) and specifically(your post above).

      First off, Muslims are not a race. They’re followers of a religion. If you mean “dem dastardly browns” say so.

      Second, for Muslims to have a reproductive rate of 8, a Muslim couple would have to have 8 children on average. Which even you cannot honestly believe.

      Third, reproduction rates normalize after a generation. While new immigrants usually have the same reproductive rate that would be normal in their country of origin (around 3.6 for the average Afghan/Iraqi/Saudi), the reproductive rate of their offspring usually falls to normal levels for their new country or even drops below average levels of their new country.

      The only correct thing in your post is that a civilization must have a reproductive rate of around 2.11. Literally everything else is xenophobic idiocy.

      Maulemall….Most of us do know our FAMILY’S history. Girls married young 30-40 years ago because higher education was not insisted on either by the parents or the educators (hence the 4 years of Home Economics I had to endure, but I was not allowed into Industrial Arts) which narrows the options to make a better life for yourself. But I do not remember the leader of our country advising teenagers to marry.

      Well said, “TruthTalker” and “MAULEMALL” either misunderstood you or is lost in the 1800′s. True, girls and to some extent boys used to get married a lot younger than now. That was for several reasons, first it was usually the only way to get out of their parent’s home and the only way to get some independence and freedom. Second, there was little choice in life, but to get married and raise a family to have any security, especially for girls. Third, believe it or not, American actually needed people and one way to get them was for young people to start early and have lots of children.

      Now, I think few would argue that those times are past on all three counts. I also hope few would disagree with the thought that waiting until the early to mid 20′s makes for a more mature and better adjusted human being who maybe, just maybe has a better chance of being good parents and having a successful marriage, etc. etc. etc. etc.

      Aside from all this, who in America would agree with anything Ahmadinejad says for thinks.

      He didn’t say they were a race… he said “race or credence”… Muslims count as ‘credence’ or ‘creed’, but you conveniently ignore that he included both. Please try to read complete sentences, and take in the complete thought.

      Either way, they are valid groupings. Some based on race, some based on religion, both ways of classifying people are fine, as they tend together often enough.

      16-18 is what the article should say, they forgot the -18. Which is alot better then several years ago when it was 10! Here is a tip… mind our own business. Here in America we have kids having babies at that age. We have kids living on the street at that age. We have all kinds of our own problems with kids, this 16-18 getting married is a minor issue. An issue that isn’t even our own country.
