Al Gore on Olbermann-Current Feud: ‘He’s Fine’

Al Gore on Olbermann Current Feud: Hes Fine

AP

Former Vice President Al Gore on Friday weighed in on the recent dust-up between Current TV and Keith Olbermann, saying the network’s star personality is “fine.”

Olbermann didn‘t participate in the network’s Iowa or New Hampshire political coverage, reportedly refusing to do so amid ongoing production problems.

“He’s fine,” Gore said according to the Associated Press, dismissing rumors that the famously difficult Olbermann was looking to leave the network. “He has been the key to our ability to pivot and develop our whole network as a progressive news and commentary network.”

Gore, the chairman of the network that reaches 63 million U.S. homes, participated himself as a pundit in Current’s Iowa and New Hampshire coverage.

Gore also touted his network as being more consistently liberal than MSNBC: Current has former Michigan Gov. Jennifer Granholm, a Democrat, as a prime-time personality. Her show “The War Room” will debut Jan. 30.

“They’ve got a few progressive shows on MSNBC in prime time,” Gore said, according to the AP. “But they’ll start the day with a conservative show in the mornings, and then they’ll get the prison channel on the weekends. They’ll be all over the lot in the middle of the day. We’re consistent.”

Joel Hyatt, Current’s CEO, also attacked MSNBC’s political leanings, charging that they only became liberal after Olbermann’s political show became a success. Olbermann left MSNBC last year.

“There is no authenticity to the MSNBC brand,” Hyatt said.

A report issued Friday by the cable analysts SNL Kagan suggested Current needs to keep Olbermann in order to survive, according to the AP.

“The potential is there, but Current will need to get its programming act together or it could face the possibility of being dropped by some distributors,” wrote Kagan analyst Derek Baine.

My family and I lived in the upper peninsula of MI during 3 years of Grandholms administration . While she cut spending, she is a union girl so and the upper peninsula was like one huge ghost town. Businesses were driven overseas or to bankruptcy by decades of demo politics. During her terms it got so bad that 300,000 were moving out of state per year. The school system is just horrible! Only 30% stay in school and graduate. The state is beautiful but the years of democratic crony politics created a hell hole of a government.

I live in a city that carries current tv , so I watched it .
After 10 min I realized that Al Gore dumped his money into this turkey and fell out laughing .
I cant think of 1 person who ever watches- Currents tv and I live in San Francisco, if you cant sell it here it wont sell any where else .
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE watch and see how awful it is , commericals every 5 min it is truly painful to watch- my favorite expose is the one where the mexican drug lords are getting there arms from gun shows .Mind you they dont want to talk about the fast and furious operation No gun shows are compliciant with mexican drug lords on bringing violence to south of the border and, if we dont get rid of that pesky 2nd amendment where all in deep do -doo according to these folks .
This is the CATV version of Air America and its doing just as well.

Weneedrubio – I agree – first to call Joe Scarborough a conservative can only come from the mouth of someone one so far left they can’t even see what is right of them. Joe is a tool MSNBC uses to try to look like they have some balance (useful idiot comes to mind). I also agree with you on Mika – now there is an angry woman. Her intelligence is questionable and I have never heard her utter anything worth hearing. I also find it funny they are trashing MSNBC – you would think they would appreciate another leftist channel or is this just the sour grapes of Obermann or perhaps because Current may reach 63 million households their view ship hardly reaches 200,000 and they don’t like the competition of MSNBC (which does far less than Fox but somewhat more than CNN).

They‘re both gay and won’t admit it.Jennifer Granholm did NOTHING for Michigan.2 terms of nothing but higher taxes and high unemployment!
She proudly proclaimed in her 2nd term that Michigan “will be blown away in 5 years” by her policies.Well, the AIRHEAD is gone and Michigan is “blown away” alright. What a friggin’ mess she left behind. Our current Governor(R) is a wishy washy moderate, afraid to tackle the unions. But he has made some conservative changes for the better.
