Al Jazeera Spins the World‘s Reaction to Bin Laden’s Death

Al Jazeera News, whose reporters are cozy enough with MSNBC to be called ‘friends’ (heard on Monday morning) has posted a summary of reactions to the news of Bin Laden’s death. Most of these are predictable.

First up, Barack Obama – US president

Today, at my direction, the United States carried out that operation… they killed Osama bin Laden and took custody of his body.

The death of bin Laden marks the most significant achievement to date against al-Qaeda.

Tonight, we give thanks to the counter intelligence officials who have tirelessly worked, we give thanks to the men who carried out this operation.

Finally, let me say to the families, we have not forgotten your loss, today’s achievement is a testament to the greatness of our country.

Tonight we are once again reminded that American can do whatever we set our mind to … we can do these things not because of wealth and power but because of who we are.

Interesting choices of what to include and what to omit. There was no mention of the thousands of lives taken by the murderous actions of Bin Laden and his followers. And that last statement selected basically says that America is rich and powerful, doesn’t it?

That was followed by a comment from Pakistan’s Foreign Office

The death of bin Laden is a “major setback to terrorist organisations around the world”.

“This operation was conducted by the US Forces in accordance with declared US policy that Osama bin Laden will be eliminated in a direct action by the US forces, wherever found in the world.”

That one sounds a bit like the refrain from the song, ‘It Wasn’t Me.’

Just next door to Pakistan… Afghanistan. Here is the reaction from Hamid Karzai – Afghan president

The killing of bin Laden is very “important news”.

OK, that’s possibly the understatement of the day…

The Taliban must learn a lesson from this. The Taliban should refrain from fighting.

And this line sounds like something you tell to children. Is this a ‘teachable moment?’

Of course the folks at Hamas issued a statement. Ismail Haniyeh – head of Hamas in the Gaza strip

We condemn the assassination and the killing of an Arab holy warrior. We ask God to offer him
mercy with the true believers and the martyrs.

We regard this as a continuation of the American policy based on oppression and the shedding of Muslim and Arab blood.

Just a reminder, this was all posted by Al Jazeera, the news outlet that has a friend in MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough.

The rest of the edited reactions are posted here.

Of course this self promoting anti war candidate stooge would wait until thanking himself mentioning “me” and “I” no less than a collective 30 times in his little presser before getting around to the families of 911. (the count was mentioned by Rush in the mocking show opener yesterday so many stooges in the MSM mistook for seriousness.

A brief comment about Christian faith vs Muslim. I see this law mentality in the Muslim faith? In Christian faith God wants his followers to follow him and Christs teachings because you want to? You will not be stoned in America if you sin! The God Christians follow wants you to obey him and live for him because you want to, not because your going to be stoned if you do not follow the law! Why would you be welcomed into Heaven if someone forces you to live a holy life? God knows your heart?Muslim faith has a parallel with the Jewish faith in that they follow the law. God saw the law thing was not working, thus Christ came and died for our sins and rose from the dead on the third day and ascended to heaven. If one believes Christ is the son of God and you accept that as truth you will have eternal life and you are baptized in the Holy Spirit and confess that you are a follower of The Christ and live a new life as the Holy Spirit resides in you. We as Christians do not earn eternal life by keeping the law as Muslims believe! Jesus said I am the way, the truth and the life no one comes to the father except through me. If you do not profess me before men I will not profess you before my Father when I take my position at the right hand of God on judgment day! Jesus also said if you are not born of water and born of the Holy Spirit you shall not enter the Kingdom of Heaven! God wants you to make a free will choice? Barabbas was looking for a conqueror in Jesus and he was Gods grace and forgiveness, the sacrifice for mankinds sin! SIN? What does that stand for? Satan In Nature? When we become like Satan, unholy, anti-Christ! Pray for all of humanity to come to Christ! Fear not the first death but the second death when you are cast into the lake of fire after judgment day, if your name is not written in the Lambs Book of Life!

I actually viewed the coverage on both FOX and Al Jazeera last night and the English version of Al Jazeera played it pretty straight last night. They were using the same footage of the POTUS that Fox did. Got comments from American military and political sources. Yes they do tilt towards a Muslim viewpoint, but it is valuable to learn what they are thinking. I just wish that I could understand Arabic and could have watched the Arabic version of the news, I have a feeling that the differences with the English version would have been interesting.

when you sleep with mangy dogs, then you will end up with ticks and fleas. the white house deserve what they get ,when you trust a news organization that has for years lied and used misinformation to cause all out hatred for America.i would hope the white house will learn their lesson.i now understand why for months the white house has tried to shove the Muslim ways on the American public and has sucked up to the Muslims and tried to help them with whatever they want, the white house knew for months they were about to kill osama ,so they have tried to force the American into compassion for the Muslim, they have used every trick in book to change this great nation,we are free Americans even if we don’t agree all the time,we do agree that we all love our freedoms, and there is no one that will take that away from us.so i hope obama and his left wing buddies seen the support we still have for this great free country and will start to govern the way of the constitution ,i am not holding my breath, but we can hope, for we all still believe in freedom and American,no matter what we believe in politically,we will stand together to protect this country at all cost.

I think I just put 2 and 2 together, that is how Obama found out where OBL was, he was a bad tipper and that delivery guy put him on his website. See people, bad tipping can get you killed.

Actually I agree that Al Jazeera is a good source of news. Like the BBC often does, they present a view that is not a strictly American view. That perspective is good to have because, you know, there are other people in the world besides the US. And, sorry, the US does not rule the world. We can all gab here without consequence, but in the real world, the international world, our leaders have to understand that the perception of other is reality to them. And that’s what we have to deal with.

But I read the Al Jazeera article and it ticked me off (don’t want to be censored here by expressing that more strongly). The article ended with the statement, “Besides September 11, the US has also linked bin Laden to a string of attacks – including the 1998 bombings of American embassies in Kenya and Tanzania and the 2000 bombing of the warship USS Cole in Yemen.”

“Linked”? OBL bragged about those attack on video and took credit for them several times. That “linked” term is BS, meant to introduce uncertainty about OBL’s involvement.
But rather than make comparisons with FOX news, I’ll just leave it at that. Al Jazeera has a perspective, so does FOX.

ozchambers, I like your post. Touché. But I do think unabashed conservative viewpoints on FOX, even by their “straight news” people (excluding Shepard Smith I think) is not representative of the average American.

Not exactly what I had in mind! ie The one that dropped my entire company in the Panama Canal would not want to meet me. We had very full rucks, a main & a reserve plus weapons and a full ammo load. We were lucky in that no one drowned.

      “Average” in what sense?
What news network do you think represents the “average” American?
And how do you come to that conclusion, given the day to day, week to week, month to month, year to year ratings.

I still say they should have buried Bin Ladens body smack in the middle of a gigantic pig-farm! But you know the PC crowd in D.C., always cares about what the rest of the world thinks of us. Just once, I would like to show the world that we won’t just bend over and take it like a naked man at a Gay Rodeo.

People are blind because they refuse to see what IS happening and instead keep repeating “that CAN’T happen”. How many times after Obama’s coronation did you hear leftists say “that will never happen, this is America” in reference to certain policies and actions that were later taken by this administration? And when it DID happen, the bias and blindness kicks back in and it either is of no high relevence all of a sudden or becomes a comparison to what Bush did as if it justifies the action. Our best bet is to quit wasting our time on those who will not listen–those who will not be convinced cannot be convinced. While I think this is a good move by this President–unfortunately, I am left questioning the timing and the real motive. Why? This man has spent 2.5 years in office trying to destroy the foundation of this country. Seeing that his ambitions for this country are clearly not the same as most Americans, we are left to question….”Okay…Barry. Why’d you do that? I’m GLAD you did, but c’mon–fess up. Tell us what’s going on this time…”

JZS – For once I was with you until you just had to take a shot at Fox. So Fox has a viewpointe? So does every news organization. I don’t know who promissed you news organizations with a viewpointe right down the middle but they were certainly selling you a bag of goods.

Since you are so open to it… how bout a nice piece of semi-moist land down in Florida?! I have a great price for you.

Do you go on Huffington Post and deride them about their viewpointe?! MSNBC?! CNN?! Kinda hypocritical of you to just focus on Fox News and The Blaze.
