Al Roker Has Been Acting a Little Odd on ‘Today’ — Have You Seen the Latest Clips of Him?

Ever since NBC’s “Today” has undergone a plethora of drama and been unseated as top morning show by “Good Morning America,” things have been a little off over at studio 1A in Rockefeller Center. A prime example: Al Roker’s strange behavior last week.

Last Thursday, a clip surfaced of Roker seemingly calling out fellow host Matt Lauer for Lauer’s apparent behind-the-scenes griping about now-booted co-host Ann Curry. During an interview with a gold medal-winning U.S. Olympic rowing team, Lauer made a comment about being thrown into the Hudson River. That’s when Roker made what seems like a backhanded remark, saying that usually around “Today” people throw each other under the bus:

But he wasn’t done there. That same day, Roker had an odd moment that featured him staring blankly into the camera for several seconds as his co-hosts continued talking. That clip has just started making the rounds:

According to the timestamps on the videos, the second clip actually happened first at about 8 am ET, with the other following at about 8:33 am ET.

For what it’s worth, NBC is denying any bad blood between Roker and Lauer. In fact, the network even counted the times being “thrown under the bus” has been mentioned in the last two years and come up with a number: 27.

As for the blank stare, some have dubbed him “RoboRoker,” while others have speculated the strange behavior is all part of a ratings stunt to drum up interest and sneak ahead of “Good Morning America” once again.

    That‘s just what Al Rouker does when he thinks he’s off camera, he goes back to stage one stance he shuts down to save energy (too much wasteful emissions) and readies for his next close up shot. Ever the professional. That is, when he is not taking on camera jabs at his co workers or making uncomfortable statements…. Ok, sometimes the gerbils inside his head get loose once in a while, but his handlers got it under control.

    Rouker, Lauer, Couric and the ilk are all a bunch of weirdos. Awkward boneheads that are full of themselves.

      @CATPBJ, I didn’t know that one was capable to generalize an entire group under a blanket banner of the exact same mentality.     As a physician I suspect a B 12 deficiency due to his surgery and common use of Prilosec like drugs to prevent ulcers. I will bet his Vit D level is below 30 also.

      With all of the bashing of the Dems and Biden by the Republicans there is no way the Republicans could allow Akins comment to slide by. They would then be forever crucified by the Dems and with just cause. This way the Reps have a defense. It’s all part of the game they play. The comment would not have stirred such a fury had it been made by someone like Biden but this time it was not.

      So…You Republicans better shape-up or you will be shipped out. I personally agree with Beck and Hannity and the others [this time]. Trouble is, we can all make stupid comments from time to time.

    I always liked al roker when he was the weather man on local tv in cleveland he was funny and ejoyable to watch. BUT!!!! MATT LAUER is a PUNK rearend kisser and everybody knows it. I hav’nt watched NBC in any way in 4yers.

      The people in the crowd are pretty much like the blank stare.
      The only reason they are outside with that crowd is to gain
      viewership. Who the heck ( want to make sure nobody takes my
      diploma ) goes on vacation to stand in a crowd for nothing except
      to say, hey watch and record the show to see if you see me!
      More fun would be to go into a restaurant with a salt shaker and
      place it on the table.

      We shut off satellite TV 4.5 years ago. (You can’t get cable where we are) Haven’t missed it one bit – switched over to Roku back then.

      When we visit someone or stay in a hotel and we turn on news on any channel, I can’t help but laugh (while thinking serious thoughts) at the vapid nonsense. Once you’re past the withdrawal symptoms, you wonder why you ever committed precious hours of your life watching that stuff.

      A bunch of people loiter around behind a barricade just to be on TV, while talking heads read a script and try to embellish it with new material. It seems like the status quo is starting to collect dust, having lulled us to sleep for decades.

      I loved Al in Cleveland too. He was always funny. To me, it looks like someone is signaling him from behind the camera or he is reading what is coming up next from the teleprompter.

      Remember when Al and Willard would banter back and forth during Today? That was when tv was fun. Now Channel 19 news is the BEST. Whenever I go back home, we love it. Where else can you see a car in a lake and have the Newscaster say, “Well, he was probably drunk.”!

    Excuse me but ever since Al lost all that weight, he just doesn’t look healthy. Thin may be in but it sure seems to take its toll on people and Matt, beside being a dope, is just too difficult to look at. I’d rather have arrogant old Brian Gumble back. He may have been hard to listen to but he was much easier on the eyes. Perhaps I am too old as many would not remember Brian, but it doesn’t matter anyway, the only time I see any of them now is if they’re on a clip like this.

    I haven’t watched NBC in years because of their noticeable love of the president, complicit with the downfall of America! The media are supposed to be the watchdogs of the Republic. To keep government in check…and even though Comcast has taken NBC from GE (ge, they ruin good things in life) they still allow news ‘reporting’ to be heavily one sided. They’re supposed to tell the truth with no agenda. What a joke that is with all main stream media. I haven’t watched, and refuse to watch any of the main stream channels in over 5 years, and that includes the shows they have on at night. They are a disgrace to the American people…and they think we’re all stupid, and they are brilliant. It’s them telling us what our nation should be like..Actually guys, the Founding Fathers and God did a pretty good job. We don’t believe in your progressive crap anymore. We are awake.
