Alec Baldwin Says Obama Needs A Second Term, So He Can Spend More Of YOUR Money.

In a stunning display of a political theory that we can only speculate will come to be known as ‘Baldwinism’ – Alec, the elder Baldwin Brother visited Washington DC this week and presented the world with his view on why President Obama deserves a second term. Spoiler alert – Alec Baldwin says that the President has not made any real progress because he has not had the opportunity to spend enough and he wants Obama to spend more (of your) money!
CNS News asked if Obama still has Baldwin’s support.
In case that all flashed by too quickly, here are Mr. Baldwin’s exact words when asked if Obama was living up to his expectations;
“Well, I mean, I think so because I think that when you come into office and you want to put your mark on things — this is just my opinion, when you want to put your mark on things, you want to be able to spend. And what’s crippled Obama’s administration, as far as I’m concerned, is the financial crisis and it’s prevented him from doing any new spending.
He’s not able – if the country was as flush as it was under Bill Clinton and he had money — these things cost money — he could have made more of a mark,” said Baldwin. “I think right now he’s had to do a lot of counter-punching; a lot of back peddling. He inherited this crisis from Bush and Paulson. He had to extend the TARP. I think it’s been very difficult for him to spend his whole first term trying to, you know, correct our course financially. I think a second term of Obama, we’ll see a lot more of what we want to see from him.”
Not enough spending? In his first year as President, Obama OUTSPENT every other president. From Fox News in late 2009;
President Obama has shattered the budget record for first-year presidents — spending nearly double what his predecessor did when he came into office and far exceeding the first-year tabs for any other U.S. president in history.
Karl Rove added some clarity on the topic in a January 2010 piece for the Wall Street Journal;
Team Obama has been on history’s biggest spending spree, which has included a $787 billion stimulus, a $30 billion expansion of a child health-care program, and a $410 billion federal spending bill that increased nondefense discretionary spending 10% for the last half of fiscal year 2009. Mr. Obama also hiked nondefense discretionary spending another 12% for fiscal year 2010.
And as 2010 came to a close, Andrew Malcom of the LA Times noted;
…national debt has increased by $3,039,000,000,000, as in, that much more than it was when he took the oath on Jan. 20, 2009, in front of millions of excited witnesses and Aretha Franklin’s huge hat.
