‘Allegations of Misconduct’: 12 Obama Secret Service Agents Relieved of Duty in Prostitution Scandal

CARTAGENA, Colombia (AP) — A dozen Secret Service agents sent to Colombia to provide security for President Barack Obama at an international summit have been relieved of duty because of allegations of misconduct.

A Secret Service spokesman did not dispute a tip received by The Associated Press that the misconduct involved prostitutes in Cartagena, Colombia, the site of the Summit of the Americas.

A U.S. official, who was not authorized to speak publicly on the matter and requested anonymity, put the number of agents at 12. The agency was not releasing the number of personnel involved.

The Washington Post reported that Jon Adler, president of the Federal Law Enforcement Officers Association, said the accusations related to at least one agent having involvement with prostitutes in Cartagena. The association represents federal law enforcement officers, including the Secret Service.

Ronald Kessler, a former Post reporter and the author of a book about the Secret Service, told the Post that he had learned that 12 agents were involved, several of them married.

The incident threatened to overshadow Obama’s economic and trade agenda at the summit and embarrass the U.S. The White House had no comment.

Secret Service spokesman Ed Donovan would not confirm that prostitution was involved, saying only that there had been “allegations of misconduct” made against Secret Service personnel in the Colombian port city hosting Obama and more than 30 world leaders.

Donovan said the allegations of misconduct were related to activity before the president’s arrival Friday night.

Obama was attending a leaders‘ dinner Friday night at Cartagena’s historic Spanish fortress. He was due to attend summit meetings with regional leaders Saturday and Sunday.

Those involved had been sent back to their permanent place of duty and were being replaced by other agency personnel, Donovan said. The matter was turned over to the agency’s Office of Professional Responsibility, which handles the agency’s internal affairs.

“These personnel changes will not affect the comprehensive security plan that has been prepared in advance of the president’s trip,” Donovan said.

      Of course people I sure are aware that government has been working over-time to change the statute of limitations on charges, so they can go back much much farther in time to charge people with crimes. I wouldn’t be surprised if they start charging conservatives with things they did when they were teenagers.

      This is not the REAL story because why would you announce it to the World? This is the World’s premiere security detail. Announcing this sort of thing only endangers the President and all others whom the Secret Service protects. Even if this ****** thing is true, which I doubt, it cannot be the whole truth. The boys saw something and needed to be discredited. They probably saw Obama doing something nasty.

But I would like to add that the first and foremost mission of the secret service is not the protection of the president, but to “protect” the money supply. It wasn‘t until after Lincoln’s assassination that they were ever called upon for protection. And when the monetary supply was really run by the People through the Congress, they served their nation in great fashion. However, the monetary supply is now controlled by an oligarchy of private banks across this nation and it is destroying us slowly as it was designed to do. Like Steve Erkel used to say “I’m wearing you down baby!”. That is what is happening to our nation and these fools in the ss are helping to perpetuate it.

      Latest from Fox at around 1:30 pm is that all 12 agents were relieved for cause. Some, meaning more than one were involved with prostitutes and the local police were notified by one of the prostitutes when one agent refused to pay. All of the agents were involved regarding a cover up attempt. Certainly makes my opinions wrong. It was pointed out that there seems to be a leadership problem too. I suppose that more is eventually come.

      Maybe now those agents can be replaced by Louies bobyguards (end sarc).

      I believe they will use this as a weapon against the Praetorian Guards to oust them in a house cleaning inspection….never can be too sure of how many more immoral men are surrounding a perfect man child of a president from only God knows where. These loyal patroits just might be too loyal to country first and president second. What I mean by that is that they could be the very instruments used to oust this man from office when it comes right down to it.

      Now begins the witch hunt in the SS for other perps and thats going to make many an agent quake in his boot fearing ruin and disgrace at the hands of a set up.

      Can we be that close to a real take over? I believe so based on this unprecedented event alone.

      It’s probably one or two agents that did something wrong but the rest of the team did nothing to stop it or said nothing to the higher ups about it. Now, the whole team is under investigation for different levels of wrong doings like failure to report, failure to supervise and conduct unbecoming. It is a way to get “the team” to come clean about what happened.

Anyone who has worked closely with the DoJ or any branch of Special Operations or Law Enforcement (especially at the higher levels) will tell you they are human and just as capable of doing scandalous things as the people they are going after, simply becoming an Agent/Operator doesn’t suddenly remove all of your character flaws or make you immune to tempatation. In general when you see large numbers of personnel in an organization acting in an inappropriate or undisciplined manner it is indicative of the command climate -translation- lack of discipline and poor leadership. If you see one or 2 individuals breaking regulations that does not necessarily indicate a systemic problem but when you see large numbers or an entire group violating the rules of conduct this represents the overall mindset or attitude of the organization. Remember back in 2009 when a ranking Democrat said “there are no rules here, we make them up as we go along” The command climate in this administration is that they are enlightened and rules and regulations are for the unenlightened minions who can’t understand our complex policies. The prevailing ideology is “In Government We Trust” WE make the rules and WE can break them. I have a feeling that we still have a lot to learn about the inner workings of this administration…..

      ONE: We just had two USCG types killed on Kodiak Island at a “communications” base. That base is plugged-in to DHS and DoD communications systems.

      TWO: Next thing to happen is 12 Secret Service personnel are accused of being involved with a prostitute and are sent home; and, we find out about this alledged incident?

      THREE: Next Saturday is the dark of the moon and all hell may break loose in the Middle East as Obama vows to keep the Jewish vote behind him by backing-up BiBi. Nobody tries to play war in the heat of the summer in the Middle East. Major Hostilites over by 01 June?

      Connect ONE, TWO and THREE and my assumption is that we have “bad guys inside the wire.”

      I think that if we’re not in a shooting war already, it’s real close…………….

      Long time reader, first time writer… Morale… I remember being in SAC (Strategic Air Command-USAF) during Nixon/Ford. At 18 we were serious troops. Didn’t understand the word morale, we just did our job as trained. Next Commander in Chief was Carter – as usual we went through the flow but something was different. The attitude, laxadasious (sic) manner had changed and we didn’t care anymore. The Secret Service is similar to SAC and I wonder if history is repeating itself. I TOO believe that this is not the real story. Sombody wanted changes within the Secret Service and we will never know.

      I’m inclined to agree somewhat. Twelve is a very high number. I would be willing to readily accept one or perhaps two, as every organisation has the odd bad egg, but this represents a significant portion of the detail. Would not such a large group have been noticed by fellow agents and superiors before now? Especially in a praetorian guard that watches itself as closely as others.

      Are we to believe that 12 unprofessional agents just happened to all be on this detail together? Or should we believe that this percentage, statistically speaking, is representative of the whole Secret Service? Neither one seems likely. I think that there might be a third option.

      What that might be, however, leaves me at a loss.

The way a Secret Service advance team would conduct over watch on each other it’s hard to believe, but not impossible to understand that one may have engaged in such services. Can easily believe that there was a set up to show an agent or agents near known prostitutes in public and caught on surveillance cameras, then shown to one or more supervisors with or without anextrapolated back story. It could be a ‘cooked up’ story. Hope we get some follow up on this. Presidents in the past have misused the Secret Service by ordering them to bring women inside the White House by shadowy means. FDR and JFK certainly come to mind.

      Guys, it doesn’t matter what my personal political beliefs are. They didn’t break any laws. So why should they be punished? You don’t see our guys in the military getting discharged for whoring it up in Singapore or Thailand or wherever, so why should these Secret Service agents be fired?

      But since you asked, I am a Libertarian. I am very conservative on some issues and liberal on others. But none of that matters. These guys did nothing technically wrong, even if it’s against your personal beliefs.

    I say Hold them to some morals and ethics and wavering of security. And hold Obama as their leader. What kind of business is going on anyway?! If Bush had this under his watch, the left would crucify him!

    Somebody high in command has to answer for this. Why not the ‘Commander in Chief’? This affects the country’s safety.

      Not sure that Obama “chooses” his secret service agents. I believe they are hired by Homeland Security…up until 2003 they were under the Dept. of the Treasury, and their employment does not change with a new administration. I do know one thing for sure. If you have ever seen Obama get into that black limo at the white house, he is surrounded by very large black men, whether they be secret service or body guards, who knows. If one didn’t know it was Obama getting in that car and due to the demeanor and body language of these goons, you would swear it was a Farakhan entourage.

      I would think that is a good possibility. Just what might appear to us as a heavy handed abuse of all of the agents, but trying to insert a single agent ‘new’ to a team would be more difficult than activating the back up team. I‘ve worked some PSD but limited and will in no way claim to be an expert at what and how the Secret Service does it’s job. There would be a certain amount of redundancy and for good reason. The first mission is the protective detail and the first team would likely be pulled out to another location for questioning and a full investigation. Things like this have probably happened hundreds of times in the past, but we would never hear of it. This one somehow leaded to the public and media and that simple fact actually has me wondering how and from whom.

      Would show a real lack of respect for the President .. if true … I will reserve judgement .. my cousin was a high ranking Secret Service agent .. and these guys are usually VERY professional and serious about their duty .. at least they were when he was in service.

      There‘s just something in this story that doesn’t seem to ring true. I always love it when it is anonymous because the person talking to the press is not authorized to talk to the press. If it is just one person involved, why punish all twelve? Is this so heinous a crime that we, the taxpayers have to foot the bill for 12 extra roundtrip flights to Cartagena? Does this really rise to a higher level of lack of integrity than the circus at the GSA outings in Las Vegas(where POTUS has told we, the taxpayers not to go, but it is okay for FLOTUS and GSA) and Hawaii?

      @NZKiwi – I will give you one possible scenario – extreme true; read about a double agent used by a hostile power in the Presidential Security detail in Tom Clancy’s “Executive Orders.”

      At the least, consider that if you have anything on a Secret Service agent AFTER they leave the POTUS guard and go to their normal duties, such as investigation of counterfeit rings (N Korea) or such, and a foreign power has the goods on them – its mostly a case of future insurance, for if one became a member of the Senate or such? How much of an advantage would such a foreign power wield with a handful of high level Senate members or administration figures in their pocket?

      Remember that many powers and nations play the long game; the hidden games of espionage is about, above all else, what may be exploitable further down the line by actions today.

      Update: Source of ‘Small explosions ” was found to be Secret Service Agents who have been ‘relieved of duty’
