Alleged Female Thief Gets Away After Good Samaritans Misinterpret Struggle and Restrain Male Victim

New Jersey Good Samaritans Tackle Wrong Person | Woman Allegedly Robbed Man

Police say a thief got away on Monday after two good Samaritans grabbed the wrong person on a northern New Jersey street.

The men were reportedly driving when they saw a woman being assaulted, so they leaped out of the car to her defense, firmly restraining the man.

Little did they know, she was apparently attacking him.

Police related that the woman allegedly stole $400 from the man and a gold chain worth $500.  The ensuing struggle was apparently mistaken for an assault.

Courier News of Bridgewater adds:

The victim said he tried to prevent his assailant from leaving the area, engaging her in a physical struggle, when the passing motorists apparently intervened, restraining him but not assaulting him, Hellwig said. The female suspect, spotting an opening, turned and ran, first trying unsuccessfully to hail a taxi before running down Plainfield Avenue, according to the investigation.

The victim attempted to pursue but soon lost sight of her, Hellwig added. After police arrived, the man provided a description of the motorists’ vehicle — a small, white Honda — and a vehicle matching that description was pulled over shortly thereafter.

The would-be good Samaritans, a 21-year-old city male and a 26-year-old city female, then relayed their story to investigators. Elements of the story were confirmed when video surveillance footage from a nearby gas station was located and reviewed, Hellwig said, adding that the entire situation was complicated by the fact that the victim was intoxicated and spoke limited English.

Investigators are using videotape to try to identify the suspect.

Who can afford a $500 gold chain?

    Who carries $400 in cash?

She would have been real pissed at what she could get from me. $5, and a twenty year old watch.

Who can afford a gold chain and cash? How about you mind your own business and get your fat nose out of other people’s pockets? Your twisted envy has nothing to do with this case.

Maybe the two who helped the suspect get away with a crime should be charged as accessories.
They were just so interested in helping someone out without finding out what was going on.
Maybe the two outstanding citizens could help out the victim with his 900 dollar loss!

People never think women are a threat. That’s why Lizzy Borden was let go and Casey Anthony got off as well. No one ever wants to think a woman is capable of things like this, but ohh they are. We had a lady who was working for the University of Kentucky and robbing banks. She wasn’t caught for a long time. I know Cat Woman in the new Batman movie is fictional, but that character is the essence of what I’m talking about.

Possibly interfered with a proposition gone way wrong. The “lady” saw an easy mark and decided to collect before performing for the drunk.

Be very careful of jumping to conclusions about what your looking at, you could be sorely mistaken as in this case. Sadly this story only makes people not want to get involved at all because they have no idea what their walking into and might be harmed themselves.

The right thing to do is to call the police and hold both. Failing that, they did err on the side of caution by allowing the female to flee from a drunk man. Better the loss of money to a female thief than a life to a drunk rapist.

However, the so-called “good” Samaritans fled the scene. At that point, they become accomplices in my book. They failed to ascertain the situation. They failed to inform police. They failed to wait for police to arrive. Best case, as far as they knew, they left the man free to assault someone else. Worst case, they knew the woman and helped her escape.

Either way, there’s nothing good about what they did.

If you never even think about the right course of action for a given situation before it happens, how on Earth do you think you would ever perform it when the time comes?

Do you think your snarky comments would have helped you if you were in this situation?

Are you the type to give out A’s for effort, regardless of the outcome? Well they tried. Sure, they helped a thief escape and abandoned the victim, but hey, they tried.

This highlights a basic and prejudicial nature of society, and that is to always assume that the man is the aggressor and the women the victim. This plays right into Barry’s “War on Women” mentality. Consider a few other facts: Women teachers convicted of sex with students get MUCH lighter sentences (often suspended). Women almost always get children in a divorce, and we’ve all read about some women that abandon their kids and ones that use them as a weapon against their ex.

Another question: Who out there walks around with a $500 golden chain? Nobody I know flashes that around, and unless it was flashed in public, the women would have to know her victim to know he had that kind of money / jewelry. Come to think of it, just what was he doing flashing around the $400 as well. Just what kind of “transaction” was being done here?

Maybe they shouldn’t have automatically assumed that the one with the Y chromosome is the aggressor. It’s a highly sexist attitude that plagues our society.
