Allen West Closes CPAC Promising ‘New Dawn’ for America

Allen West Closes CPAC Promising New Dawn for America

Rep. Allen West, R-Fla.

The 2011 Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) closed out its three-day event Saturday evening with a rousing keynote address delivered by Rep. Allen West, R-Fla.

Though libertarian-leaning Rep. Ron Paul, R-Texas, walked away with another straw poll victory this year, West delivered a speech that rejected Paul’s ardent non-interventionist national defense stance, and instead insisted the United States’ role in the world is to lead with moral courage and steadfast leadership against tyranny. One of West’s largest ovations came after he unapologetically declared that America should never abandon her alliance with Israel.

“Peace begins with courageous leaders who are willing to identify and defy our enemies and their objectives,” he said, “Because political correctness has no place in our national security agenda.”

As a member of the 112th Congress’ freshmen class, West’s reaffirmation of basic “pillars of conservatism” reflected a new wave of political courage swept into Washington following last November’s midterm elections. It’s these pillars that will lead to the “new dawn of a new America,” West announced.

In describing his personal journey to Washington, West took a swipe at critics’ charges of conservative “racism” and pointedly remarked, “Perhaps they should see who is standing up as your keynote speaker.”

West commended his fellow conservatives for enduring “the politics of ugliness… capitalist name calling… being called the ‘worst person in the world’… he got fired for it,” West said, referring to controversial ex-MSNBC host Keith Olbermann.

The Colonel also touched on the importance of faith and respecting the oath to protect the U.S. Constitution — an oath West said he took “to be a guardian for the conservative principles that make America the greatest nation that the world has ever known.”  He also denounced “liberal progressivism” that “has repeatedly failed all over the world.”

West was also one of just a hand-full of conservative leaders to touch on recent developments in Egypt during his CPAC remarks. “Yesterday we witnessed a historic moment. However, let us be reminded of the lessons of revolution in Iran,” he cautioned. “History has a way of teaching you a very bad lesson if you don’t pay attention.”

The most important pillar for Rep. Allen West? The commitment to one’s own values.

“We do not separate faith from the individual. We must never forget that the American motto is ‘In God We Trust,’” he said. “We welcome the beliefs of others in America, but when tolerance becomes a one-way street it leads to cultural suicide.”

“We stand on the precedence of greatness for this nation, but if we forget what brought us to where we are, if we forget these pillars there will be no America to pass on to our generations,” he concluded.

Of the 11,000 CPAC attendees, less than 4,000 of them voted in the straw poll. So Ron Paul got about half of the votes, that’s 2,000 votes. This is what we should base the next GOP presidential nominee on?

no, but it does show that he can organize and develop organizations like Campaign for Liberty, Young Americans for Liberty, etc. It shows he can go and call out big government Republicans, because he feels it is important to stand for principles of smaller federal government, sound money, and non-intervention.

Heck Romney won 2nd place and CPAC got all giddy with Fox saying how it shows how Romney is showing strong numbers.

So contrast the downplay of Paul, versus the upplay of Romney… you will start to see the crap we deal with.

Don’t think Ron Paul can garner 50% + of the American people.
Especially once the zombies see what the MSM and SNL types do to him.
    Too bad.

I am developing a man crush on Mr. West.

No to Romney please Dear Lord NO. Just another politician same as the other stooges they trotted up there. New blood is much needed.

Cain/West ticket could win… but only with the support of the other republican “names” (Paul/Palin/Huckabee). Gingrich, Romney should not even be in our discussions… as they would just be furthering along their “political” careers. Folks, we need a team that is willing to dig in and get something done.

While some will comment on Cain’s Federal Reserve experience, this doesn’t mean that he is “lost” and without morals. I think that simple question needs to be asked of him about what his position is on the FED and then take the man for his word. He has been as honorable as any human can be in everything else he has said… we should not believe that he will not be as genuine on this issue. I suspect that he is aligned with Paul on this issue at this point.

Palin needs to get behind this ticket… because it can win… and she can bring a massive influence to it. As much as I like Palin, and her passion… she won’t win… which I hate saying. We need to win this next election… and a Cain/West ticket can win.

Ron Paul is my favorite candidate… but folks… he is 75 years old right now… and he would be 77 when taking… and 81 at the conclusion of just 1 term… with the average life expectancy of an American male only being 82 years old. Folks, while he may live to 100+, he will not be electable… again… which I hate… because I think he would be a heck of a President.

Folks, we have seen what has happened in just 2 short years. It is disgusting people. These liberals are emboldened… and they are not wavering in their commitment to ruin our country once and for all. They have “nudged” us and nudged us and nudged us… our education system is terrible… our infrastructure is terrible… our foreign policy is terrible… we have a sitting president that has sold us out.

People… we can’t lose the 2012 election… we need to get off our &*# and get in the game… get everyone into the game… and if you are not willing to get into the game… shut your mouth and get to the sidelines where you belong.

Folks… this is it. If we lose this next election… if we don’t take over the Senate and White House, while keeping control of the House… we may as well cry uncle… because it won’t take them 6 more years to fulfill their agenda.

Sorry for my rant… but folks… I can’t take this any more… we need to get this done… and a Cain/West ticket can get it done for us.

Ron or Rand Paul is not what this country needs – we do need conservatism – we do not need a country where everything is right in your own eyes – we do need some laws!!!! The Military is the most important thing our government should pay for, we need protection from foreign enemies – as well as those from within. Egypt has shown us just how a strong military is a must.
England, France, Germany have all finally said that multiculturalism does not work, that is divides a nation.
Well, I do think that the right has been saying this for years – but the left has pushed this because they wanted to divide us however they could. I just pray that we the people wake up before it is to late.
We are a nation born of Judeo-Christians beliefs – all our documents will confirm it!
Congressman West is also correct when he says that if we forsake Israel – we as a nation will fall faster than anyone could ever imagine!
We don’t need a RINO or a Libertarian – we need a person who puts common sense and morals first and utmost as this is the only way to get America back! We need men like our founders – men who stand for America and not for a person who will compromise anything for power!
WAKE UP REPUBLICANS, INDEPENDENTS, CONSERVATIVE DEMOCRATS BEFORE WE HAVE ANOTHER MAN NOMINATED IN OUR PARTY WHO WILL BETRAY HIS/HER OWN MOTHER FOR POWER!!!!!!!!

I watched West’s speech and from the look of it, he was cut short time-wise by the pollster running on. I would really have liked to hear from the serviceman West brought with him… but it didn’t get past an introduction.

Personally, I’d like to see a West/Cain ticket… and have them publicize (in advance for a change) who they are considering placing in advisory posts should they be elected. Hey BROKER0101, We have not yet begun to fight. Listen to Daniel Webster to understand the American way. (You might learn something) ““I apprehend no danger to our country from a foreign foe.…Our destruction, should it come at all, will be from another quarter. From the inattention of the people to the concerns of their government, from their carelessness and negligence, I must confess that I do apprehend some danger. I fear that they may place too implicit a confidence in their public servants, and fail properly to scrutinize their conduct; that in this way they may be made the dupes of designing men, and become the instruments of their own undoing. Make them intelligent and they will be vigilant, give them the means of detecting the wrong, and they will apply the remedy.” (Daniel Webster, Works, 1:403.)”. It is the mass of bobble-headed lemmings like yourself who are so willing to follow our dear leader into hell and take our once great nation with him who need to have their eyes opened. Our spiraling debt, an abomination called Obamacare that shortly will cost 800,000 people their jobs, job losses, housing losses, soaring food and gas prices, dependence on foreign oil (when we COULD be opening up our own reserves and we could end the moratorium on oil drilling), etc. Just what do our eyes need to be opened to?

      “Right-wing extremist”

I have never understood this. If what the “Right” in this country believes is extreme (in America, that is–though in the scope of history it IS quite radical), then we are truly lost.

What is extreme about limited government? Personal responsibility? Individual Liberty? Moral and legal equality (as opposed to material “equality”)? The belief in the Right of individual to pursue his own good, and not be chained to what a small group of “intellectuals” thinks to be the “common good”?
Isn’t this precisely what the Founders believed? So would you call them “Right-wing extremists”?

Yet Ron Paul won the CPAC Presidential Straw Pole….again. That should be a real reality-check for how viable our supposedly-resurgent New Conservative movement really is. Buckle up, Beck Bots. The real hard times will NOT be civil unrest in American (much to Beck‘s Mercury Radio Arts’ chagrin – because the longer it doesn’t happen, the less marketable His product becomes) but mundane continuation of the every-leftward-moving status quo. Prepare to not only run a RINO presidential candidate in 2012, but for Obama to win again and for the Dems to reclaim many seats in both houses of Congress. Way more than half of all American are MORONS (including, obviously, many on our side). Game over.

I dont think you pay attention to what really goes on at CPAC. Ron Paul supporters come in droves to this convention in order to manipulate the results. They do that every year at CPAC. The economy is still going to be pretty sour because Keynesian economics never have worked and never will. Those huge deficits will suck the oxygen right out of the economy. I see stagflation or even a second crash because there will be not enough capital avaliable. Even though Obama has a messiah complex, he cannot violate the laws of economics. As to Obama being elected a second term even if that happens and he jams more socialism, gun bans or abridging constitutional freedoms down Americans throats, we can always call for massive non violent civil disobedience. Then what, Obama will roll out the tanks?

Sinista Mace – Hello again. More and more Ron Paul’s message is resonating. And I believe much of his ideas (not all) are beginning to take root in the Republican Party especially by this new freshman class. Rand is the perfect example. What I find most important is Paul and his supporters are not about going off and starting a third party, but bringing needed change from within. I’ve wondered, as I’ve read many of your posts, which is more important to you, Paul’s ideals taking root here and growing, or him being the nominee? Because I don’t think Paul will be the nominee, but it’s just too early. But I can certainly see much of his and Rand’s ideas and policies being great influences, I just don’t see it happening as fast as some believe or the country needs.

I believe that many people have many ideas about what is wrong (or right) with our country. Most feel very passionately about what they see as the problems and also the solutions to those problems. I think that many have an honest motivation to have a better country, and to that end I think most reasonable people would agree. However, the path taken to get to that place can look VERY different to different people. Where do so many opinions and different views come from??? I believe that one main reason we see so many different ideas about the solutions is that many in this country have lost the foundation of Truth. Ours is a culture that for the most part rejects any concept of objective Truth, settling instead for a “what works for you is truth” approach to life, government, education, and relationships. Because of this dramatic increase in subjective truth over an objective Truth, there is no common foundation from which men can base views and solutions upon. Each man is left to his own devices and “perceived” wisdom. For example., many believe Homosexuals should be able to marry while many don’t/won’t recognize that as a marriage in any form. These two worldviews through which reality has been interpreted are two totally different starting places. Unfortunately, when one does not recognize an objective truth they are forced to figure out solutions based upon their own reasoning powers. And every single person is a product (or slave) of their experiences. None of us possess perfect knowledge and reasoning, and all of us can remember many instances where we just “knew” we were right only to find out at a later time that we were not. Therefore, we should be skeptical of ourselves to think we have all the answers and solutions if we are simply using our own cognitive abilities. There must be objective Truth. Just as gravity exists whether we discover it or not. It holds the solar system together. If we could somehow “tinker” with gravity based on our own interpretations of what it should be, what would the consequences be? And might we seek to re-establish the foundation from which we strayed that allowed gravity to function properly? When the foundations of a society begin to crumble and erode what are we to do? It isn’t much different than what happens to a physical structure whose foundation has eroded. It begins to falter. The only solution is to begin to place the faltering structure back onto the solid footing of a reconstituted foundation. Unless we, the USA, get back to our foundations we will go the way of so many civilizations before us (maybe quickly maybe slowly). Rome, Ancient Greece, Egypt, etc We. like these previous illustrations, have grown complacent, lazy in thought, corrupt in greed, little on grace, great on cynicism, excessive in lawsuits, disrespectful, dishonoring to life, non-protectors of the weak among us, insolent, cold-hearted, disrespectful of authority, abusers of authority, immoral, perverse, uneducated, quick to speak, slow to listen, rude, “know-it-alls”, arrogant and proud, just to name a few. Of course this is not an indictment of each individual, but rather an observation of our society on a whole. This is also not to proclamation that there is no decency remaining. But as we march further into the abyss of relativism our destiny, which was written long ago in the ancient internal collapse of Rome, is secured. Therefore I see this principle at work currently: Those who have a notion of collectivism would gain it by emphasizing a morality that is relative (which seems contradictory and destined to fail), whereas our goal would be better obtained if we would emphasize the objective Truths of our foundation to promote a greater sense of community (collectivism) that might have the ability to endure !!
