Allen West Compares Obama to…Neville Chamberlain

This week, Rep. Allen West (R-FL) made a comparison that Barack Obama is sure to find unfavorable. As reported on The Gateway Pundit blog, West sent the following message on Twitter: “Pres flew into Afghanistan at night for 7 hrs. As sun came up, Taliban gave its response 2 his Chamberlain like actions.”

Accompanying the anti-Obama tweet was a link to an ABC News article that covered the attacks that occurred in Afghanistan only hours after the president spoke — then left — the country. ABC reported:
The Taliban claimed credit for the attacks, which began with a suicide car bomb that went off near Jalalabad Road at 6 a.m. and was followed by a much larger explosion two hours later. Taliban leaders told media that they targeted Green Village, a heavily fortified compound home to many westerners including U.S. Department of Defense contractors.
Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid told The Wall Street Journal that the attack was a direct response to Obama’s visit.
“This delivers a message to President Obama that he is not welcome in Afghanistan,” Mujahid said. “When he is in Afghanistan, we want him to hear the sound of explosions. Afghanistan does not want his imposed strategy.”

West’s Twitter comparison was, of course, intended to be a slam on Obama’s policies. Chamberlain was the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from 1937 until 1940. He was known for his appeasement in addressing foreign policy issues. BBC offers up a little of the history behind Champerlain’s views:
Like many in Britain who had lived through World War One, Chamberlain was determined to avert another war. His policy of appeasement towards Adolf Hitler culminated in the Munich Agreement in which Britain and France accepted that the Czech region of the Sudetenland should be ceded to Germany.
Chamberlain left Munich believing that by appeasing Hitler he had assured ‘peace for our time’. However, in March 1939 Hitler annexed the rest of the Czech lands of Bohemia and Moravia, with Slovakia becoming a puppet state of Germany. Five months later in September 1939 Hitler’s forces invaded Poland. Chamberlain responded with a British declaration of war on Germany.
On May 1, one day before the tweet was sent, West expounded upon his opinions about Obama’s Afghan strategy on his Facebook page.
“President Obama obviously does not understand the nature and motivating objectives of the Taliban. I will soon be traveling to the Afghanistan theater of operations to assess the mission and future,” West said. “After already spending much time over there I can tell you there will never be a secure Afghanistan as long as the enemy has sanctuary in Pakistan. Nation building is not our objective, it is to destroy radical [I]slamists whereever they exist.”

In this story the Taliban would be the closest thing to what fascism is and West is trying to eliminate the threat of radical Islamic terrorists. As far as President Obama is concerned, he is either a genius enemy to the U.S. or one of the most inept Presidents we have ever had and is just dangerous by accident. Posted on May 4, 2012 at 2:39pmYou’re confusing libertarianism with conservatism. While many conservatives can justify his voting for that policy change, its goes counter to everything libertarians stand for. As a conservative, I don’t like his voting for it one bit nor do I like some of the other things he has done. However, I believe the good easily outweighs the bad when it comes to Mr. West. In fact, what he did to the terrorist sympathizer in Iraq to save the lives of his men bought a lot of good will in my eyes.

Posted on May 5, 2012 at 8:04amThen please define for me what a modern day conservative is supposed to be. I was under the impression that a conservative was for a limited government, freedom for the people and would stand for the constitution and for the rights of liberty as defined in the constitution.
I can assume from your statements that the new conservative is willing to compromise freedom for false sense of security and will waiver on principles as long as someone is good enough. Your logic of ‘well he is not all bad’ is sad and pathetic and is exactly what got us into this mess we are in with our beloved all controlling government. You sir are no friend of freedome and liberty if you can support a man who voted to take it parts of that freedom away.
West voted to give the WORST president in our history, a president that has clearly stated he hates America’s special place int he world, the power to do strip Amricans of their rights under the Constitution. I don’t care what West has done in the past, he just crapped on the Constitution and if that’s what the new Conservative thinks is ok with than we are in big trouble.

PAUL’S PRO-AMERICA FOREIGN POLICY
* Make securing our borders the top national security priority.
* Avoid long and expensive land wars that bankrupt our country by using constitutional means to capture or kill terrorist leaders who helped attack the U.S. and continue to plot further attacks.
* Guarantee our intelligence community’s efforts are directed toward legitimate threats and not spying on innocent Americans through unconstitutional power grabs like the Patriot Act.
* End the nation-building that is draining troop morale, increasing our debt, and sacrificing lives with no end in sight.
* Follow the Constitution by asking Congress to declare war before one is waged.
* Only send our military into conflict with a clear mission and all the tools they need to complete the job – and then bring them home.
* Ensure our veterans receive the care, benefits, and honors they have earned when they return.
* Revitalize the military for the 21st century by eliminating waste in a trillion-dollar military budget.
* Prevent the TSA from forcing Americans to either be groped or ogled just to travel on an airplane and ultimately abolish the unconstitutional agency.
* Stop taking money from the middle class and the poor to give to rich dictators through foreign aid.
As President, Ron Paul’s national defense policy will ensure that the greatest nation in human history is strong, secure, and respected.

On a side note, if you backed up your propaganda with some facts people might try and take you serious. The facts are Obama has continued and expanded the wars. Romney has said he will do the same. One of the few people not saying this is Ron Paul. You like borrowing money from China to pay for wars that have no purpose. You must not have any family in the armed services. Ask the injured vets what is purpose there. Yes some will say to defend America, but what are the defending America from in Afghanistan? Iraq? Iran? None of those countries can attack us!!! We need our borders protected, not some country that will never like us borders protected. We are creating our on problems now. If we stop this madness we can save our country. If we dont, its over.

Posted on May 4, 2012 at 1:22pmPres Obama is worse than Chamberlain; Obama is a true and outright traitor, radical ideological Marxist extremist and will be, if he assumes his dictatorship or autocratic rule, on the order in blood shed of Stalin, Lenin, Pol Pot, Mao and all other monsters of history; he will go down in history as the worst traitor and madman of this nation to date.

Posted on May 4, 2012 at 1:32pmAnd West is the chosen Republican sniper for obvious reasons. Too bad he shows much more prowess in being a critic than offering up any cogent or practical policies of his own. Similar to M. Bachmann his failure to actually do anything indicates he is just another empty seat in congress. Happy to take the taxpayers money though.

No, Obama was an empty seat in Congress. How many times did Barry vote present? Better yet how many times did Obama present any legislation? Obama has been and is now an empty seat in the White House, at least for another 7 months!
