Allen West Cracks Uncle Tom, Oreo Jokes at ‘Funniest Celebrity in Washington’ Contest

Allen West Makes Uncle Tom Joeks at Washington D.C. Funniest Celebrity ContestOn Wednesday night, only one lawmaker — Congressman Allen West — walked away with a prize from the annual “Funniest Celebrity in Washington” contest. Beating out rivals Senator Scott Brown and Democratic Congressman Earl Blumenaue, the Florida Republican won third runner up by sharing some clever jokes on how hearing about a colleague’s “Uncle Tom” made him feel warm and welcome as the only African American conservative in the Congressional Black Caucus.

Delivering a zinger to Georgia Democrat and fellow Black Caucus member John Lewis, West blazed:

“The first thing I got sworn into was the Congressional Black Caucus. Now you talk about being fun–being the only black Republican in the Congressional Black Caucus, but I did kind of get a warm welcome. John Lewis…John Lewis from Atlanta, Georgia–same neighborhood that I grew up in down there…great time. And so I’m walking up behind John Lewis and he really let me feel like this is a family man, because I kept hearing him talk about some guy named Uncle Tom.”

But Congressman Lewis and his old “Uncle Tom” were not the only ones in the line of fire. Rep. Maxine Waters also served as the brunt of West’s jokes — this time about Oreos:

“There was Maxine Waters and I thought, “Man, Maxine Waters must really have a sweet tooth because she kept talking about Oreos. and Double Stuffs at that.”

“So I figured this was gonna be nice. I’ve got a family oriented guy here with John Lewis. I got someone who likes Oreo Cookies with Maxine Waters, but I’ll tell you what, it’s been a good experience being there with the Congressional Black Caucus.”

The Blaze’s Eddie Scarry has more on the night’s festivities on the Blog, including some witty jokes from Scott Brown. Take a peek!

@RIGHT: They see racism around every corner just like McCarty-ites saw a communist around every corner. (And yes, I do realize that McCarthy was often right about that.) But my point is these twits who see a racist everywhere they look.

      Like I said above (below?)
Allan Keyes is NOT the same as Allen West, not even close. Not nearly as charismatic, but more importantly, he wears religion on his sleeve a little too boldly for the general populace. His stated goals are a bit murky as well. As VP, he could probably pass muster.

No, the right is interested in the most qualified candidate for the job, irrespective of color. The Democrats are the ones obsessed with race as evidenced by reports that the Obama campaign is ‘abandoning’ the white working class in his campaign for re-election. Apparently he’s only interested in representing certain segments of our population.

nah, we are desparate to find a real conservative who is articulate, quick on his feet in a debate and can hand the liberals their ass on a platter. Alan West fits that bill. Newt fits part of it although not conservative enough, he would thrash Obama in a debate. I wish West were running. He would have my vote and not because he‘s black but because he’s a real conservative and the kind of soldier I would follow to hell and back. His blackness may be a fringe benefit but it’s not the reason we like the man. We like his heart, his courage, intestinal fortitude, quick wit, honest charisma……..in short the man’s got balls and not afraid of anyone. He’s not PC and unafraid to tell the leftest weenies how things really are and really work. Of all the people I can think of for President Alan West would be the best. I’d absolutely LOVE to see him debat Obutthead.

      Bernbart,

It is the Democrats that need to prove thay are not racists. From their support of the eugenics minded Planned Parenthood (which has placed 78% of the abortion clinics in minortity neighborhoods) to their contant efforts to keep minority women unmarried and on welfare, they have always kept minorities down. Remember, the Democratic Party is ther party of the KKK and the Jim Crowe laws. To see reality expressed about the Democratic Party go to: http://www.ragingelephants.org/

I’ve always liked Allen West; (contribute to his congressional campaign fund). Anyone who can laugh at the clowns on the left like him has got to be the real deal. What he’s done is taken away their favorite ammunition (racism) and turned the tables. Although Allen West is a new Congressman, he has already made his mark as a courageous CONSERVATIVE LEADER. Since he didn’t feel ready to run for the Presidency, I’m hoping that he gets picked for and accepts the V.P. slot after the Republican primaries are over.

I have been a Herman Cain supporter because he was not of Washington, knew the business world and had some fresh ideas. My belief was and still is that we need a black conservative in the executive branch to speak to the impoverished black community with some much needed straight talk about the Welfare State and what is has been doing to them. Any white man who might attempt that would be labeled “RACIST” immediately for trying. Herman Cain will not be that guy. But let’s do everything we can to make certain that Allen West is!

Col. West would be a GREAT vice prez, or a great Sec. Def.
As for Secretary of State — clearly John Bolton.
And it would be soooo sweet for Sarah Palin to be Secretary of the Interior. Imagine the scene: an oil lease reaches her desk for final approval. She picks up her pen. Then, she grins and puts down the pen. She reaches over and picks up a rubber stamp and deftly appies it to the lease. Zoom to the signature line — there is her signature PLUS the words “You Betcha — Drill, baby, Drill!”

West is as close to a potential great leader as one can get.
    Whoever the Republican nominee is-
West had better be their choice for veep.

He will, singlehandedly put the election away for the presidential nominee
and set himself up for the Presidency in eight years.

If he was running for President now….he would beat the political pants of all !

Gingrich better be whispering in West’s ear and let it be known
through “an unknown source” that the two of them are going to team up
to drag the stinky, scrawny nosepickers out of office in 2012.

Don’t hold off, Newt…America wants to know that West is your man
because he is ours……double your ratings and announce it NOW !

One of the only smart men in DC. We do have some good people in DC, lets not forget that. When it comes to throwing them all out, lets us not forget some people in DC have fought the good fight, have not been there for the ruin of our country and have had their good names dragged throw the mug. Our elected officials in 2010 have done what we sent them to do. We need to continue to support our newly elected.

I heartily agree. When I hear “Throw them all out!” I just cringe! What about Marco Rubio? Do NOT throw him out. Do NOT throw out Allen West! Do NOT through out Darrly Issa! Not Tom Coburn or Senator Grassley! I could name a few more. But I consider them each as individuals. Most of them really should go. But there are many others who are decent people.

The dreamily handsome Florida Representative (R – Plantation) proves himself a spunky mouthpiece for the Taxed Enough Already and a distinguished bravery model for the United States Military Officer Corps. He puts his fist where the DemonRat mouth is, man, or woman.
This feisty firecracker stands his ground against Not-Ladies, and holds the Anti-Race Card (ARC) as a 100% black man. He is twice the woman as his nearest DemonRat opponent. He is a Triple Threat and MUST be “drafted” into running for Vice President (Go Woman/Black 2012).
Sir West is fully endorsed by the Log Cabin Republicans, for his feisty nature, sassy attitude and ability to take on all comers while staying on top. Just saying – now that there‘s funny I don’t care who you are.
