Allen West Says Holder‘s Use of the ’Race Card‘ Is ’Slap in My Face as a Professional African American’

“I’m disgusted. I find it absolutely reprehensible because this is not about skin color. This is about your character. This is about your competence. This is about your ability to lead. And this is about potentially you having misled the Congress and the American people on this operation Fast and Furious,” Rep. Allen West (R-FL) told NRA News.

Why did Rep. West have such strong words for attorney general Eric Holder?

Recently, the calls for Holder‘s resignation on Capitol Hill have increased as the investigation into the ATF’s “Fast and Furious” gunrunning probe intensifies. Perhaps overwhelmed by the growing pressure, Holder tried to explain the that “more extreme segment” of his critics were going after him because of his race.

“This is a way to get at the president because of the way I can be identified with him, both due to the nature of our relationship and, you know, the fact that we’re both African-American,” Holder said in an interview with The New York Times.

However, many argue that race has nothing to do with the growing–and increasingly heated–criticism Holder has faced recently.

“I think it’s fair criticism. When you look at Fast and Furious … when you look at guns ending up in the hands of drug lords and criminals south of the border, I think that’s fair criticism,” J.C. Watts, a former Republican congressman from Oklahoma, told Fox News.

An African American himself, Watts warned against injecting race into the issue.

“I think it cheapens and it weakens the legitimate claims of racism,” he said. “I think racism is obviously alive and well, but I think it cheapens it when we so quickly and in such cavalier ways, we often jump to that. Now I‘m not saying that the attorney general’s being cavalier. … He probably honestly feels like that.”

Watts‘ criticism of Holder’s introduction of racism into the discussion pales in comparison to the words West had for the attorney general.

“It is a slap in my face as a professional African American member of Congress and a career military officer, that this gentleman who is the head of the Department of Justice is going to resort to that very nefarious theme of the race card,” West said.

    Holder’s comment leads me to believe he somehow thinks white people must turn a blind eye to whatever crimes other white people are committing just because they are white. Why else would we want answers from him? his blackness, of course! Is he that delusional? Do black people really think white people make it easier for other white people? It’s obvious the color of our skin is the least of our differences, if only it were.
    Life is hard you big crybaby and it’s hard for just about everyone, not just blacks. It’s time to get off the pity pot, your embarrassing yourself.

      It is the tired dem rant that those who are minorities aren’t as capable as the rest of society. Why that mantra escapes the minorities is beyond me. In Nashville Tn our school board actually wants to make special arrangements for the black kids regarding punishments and test scores- it seems that the school board thinks that black kids are not as capable of meeting the same requirements as the white, hispanic, asian kids. Same with “affirmative action” just says that you are not as capable as anyone else so special arrangements must be made for you – great way to advance equality

      If most blacks were like Allen West, I would refrain from criticizing them. Like him they would be fellow Americans I would want to help.

      But most are not like Allen West They’re just the opposite and they display hate and denigration of white people.       If race were the issue then Holder would not have been certified by the legislature for the positin he now holds. In truth this is the first thing a colored person in power resorts to THE RACE CARD. Sharpton uses it constantly. Race has nothing to do with what has transpired. He was wrong when he decide to use the program Fast and Furious. Oh sure he denies it but he has already been proven a liar. Since when does an underling in a department start a movemenrt without notifying and getting the approval of his boss? Not ever that’s a sure way to end his career in that or any other Government Department. The Obama administration has been lying to us every since he became our President. I admit that I voted for him, just to demonstrate that we are a well adjusted (balanced as far as race goes) nation. But he and policies, his constant lying and his administration has sure made me ashamed of my vote. And you can bet your a$$ that I will do whatever I can to unseat him in 2012. And from the way that the Leftist controled Congress has acted, from now on I will never vote for anothert Democrat as long as I’m able.

      Why can’t they just be Americans? Why do people have to always insert a label in front of the word? There can be only “American” if we will survive moving forward in unity & in unison. I know folks are proud of their heritage & that’s well & good but you need to put that aside when it comes to the good of your country.       If you know the military background of Adam West, you know that he supported the rights of ALL of his men in combat. He is the best example of a good military commander I have seen since – before I was born.
      He didn’t worry about being PC when his troops were being ambushed on a regular basis. When Military Intelligence and the CIA couldn’t get the traitor to admit his acts, LTC West got it out of him and it only took about 5 minutes of Non-PC conversation to do it.
      I would follow him to battle, and if he ever runs for President, I will vote for him in a heart-beat.

    Thank You Mr. West!!!!!!!!!!!! I too am disgusted with Holder’s race card BS.I agree it is reprehensible.Mr. Holder should be forced to resign and then charged with culpability in the death of Mr.Terry.

    IMO Mr. Holder is a duplicitous POS and has no place or purpose in a position dealing with law enforcement of any kind.

    Holder and Obama are setting the stage for ‘12 election to blame republicans, prior admin(Bush), TEA Party and of course you must have the race card in play for this administrations failure.

    I’d like to know why Rep West, Issa along with several others who have even stated he should be impeached as to why no step have been taken to do just that and remove Holder from power?

    Im a fan of West but I challenge him and all of you to put pressure on him and Issa to make a move. There is too much talk coming out of DC and no action. Enough of the BS hearing, political grandstanding its time to put things in motion. This country is coming apart at the seems just in time for the ‘12 election.       do you remeber what happened regarding the last impeachment proceedings? Ask anybody what the Clinton Impeachment was about and they will tell you it was For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge between Clinton & Monica – few recognize the issue was the perjury – lying under oath. The masses are / were easily mislead / indoctrinated and still spew wrong information based upon the media reports. We have less than a year – while it should be done – practically speaking – it would be a distraction and more fodder for sychofantic support of the Obama camp. Sad but true. Eric is just trying to work on the sympathies of American’s, he knows his days are numbered… if you really want to do something have all those tied to Fast and Furious arrested, because they all are accessories to murder of Brian Terry and who knows how many Mexican’s. He is a disgrace to the seat he holds.. and a disgrace to our country.. This was all about take our 2nd ammendments rights away from us..       why is there any need to distinguish – either an American period or an unAmerican – race, creed, color etc are irrelevant. You either support the exceptional (for those who missed that day in school – what makes Americ exceptional is that in the grand scheme of governments and goevernmental systems – America is the exception since your station in life is only determined by your willingness dt work hard for what you want rather than a product of your birth and parentage – a concept defintely lost on the current WH occupier)

      I think Rep West understands the distinction and was using Holders words against him. Rep West is an honorable man of integrity

      African American professional . One who has a JOB as a professional, like a doctor, dentist etc and one that believes in the USA..

      and just another inconvenient truth – Col West joined the Black Caucus to further highlight the hypocrisy of their “casue” – i.e to completly illustrate the intollerance and that they only continue the narrative that “blacks are not as capable” as and he has done a great job doing just that. You really should come to the Blaze with at least one round chambered before you dare to venture into the fight. The CBC only wants to further the new slavery as defined (I challenge you to investigate the words and writings of LBJ) by the demoncraps.

      @ DeMint guy and others who have problems with Allen West being a career soldier. Where would you be if it were not for career military?

      In school learning Russian, Chinese or German.

      Our professional military goes where our civilian leaders direct them. Within those parameters they act as professionally as they possibly can. They allow enemies of the United States to try and destroy those things the majority of Americans stand for. The non-PC military leaders are those youngsters that took up the baton when their elders were too old to carry it and effectively stand guard over America.

      Sketchy morals? If you mean he is like former Lieutenant Kerry you are way too far out in left field. They are the exact opposite.

      I don’t think Allen West calls himself an African American. I’ve seen where he says he is a Black American. I have great respect for West. He also said the thing that surprised him the most about DC is how easily everyone lies. Keep standing for what you believe in Col. West, you have our support and admiration.
