Allen West Slams Planned Tank Sale to Egypt, Muslim Brotherhood, Cites Risks to Israel

Rep. Allen West is reportedly “strongly opposed” to a planned U.S. sale of M1A1 Abrams tanks to Egypt given the growing probability that the Muslim Brotherhood could, at some point in the near future, lead the Egyptian government. Allowing the sale of such tanks, would, according to West, “seriously jeopardize the safety and security of the state of Israel.“ West added that the ”last thing” he wants to see are Egyptian M1A1 tanks “rolling through the Sinai toward Jerusalem.”

Sunshine State News reports that in a letter Monday to Armed Services Committee Chairman Buck McKeon, West wrote:

“It has come to my attention that the Defense Security Cooperation Agency notified Congress on July 1, 2011 of a possible foreign military sale to the government of Egypt for 125 M1A1 Abrams tank kits for coproduction and associated weapons, equipment, parts, training and logistical support.

“One of the greatest threats to Egyptian stability, as well as to regional stability, is the growing prospect of a new Egyptian government under the leadership of the Muslim Brotherhood. If given control of the country, the Muslim Brotherhood would nominate its own candidates and turn Egypt into a radical Islamic state.

“America must continue to stand with the Egyptian people and encourage them to build their own democracy with new political parties and freedoms. However, we must exercise caution with regard to military sales and support to the Egyptian government until a government is formed absent of the radical elements of the Muslim Brotherhood that will maintain active peace with Israel,” stated West, R-Plantation.

“As a member of the Armed Services Committee, I strongly oppose any military sales of any kind to the government of Egypt as long as the Muslim Brotherhood remains active in the political process. Doing so would seriously jeopardize the safety and security of the state of Israel. The last thing I want to see is Egyptian M1A1 tanks rolling through the Sinai toward Jerusalem.”

It seems Rep. West’s no-nonsense attitude and candor resonates well with conservatives. Perhaps we’re seeing the rise of a GOP champion…

    I believe Allen West is sincere in his belief that he is not ready to be POTUS. That reflects much more about the man’s high integrity, humbleness, and his respect of this office than it has anything to do with his confidence and capability. The fact is, he is supremely more qualified than this socialist, liberation theology, community organizing, Israel hating, debt exploding, 2nd ammendment targeting, tell-a-prompter dependent, etc, etc. present POTUS who is destroying this country. There have been times in history when “the times” demanded the leadership of a certain individual despite their reluctance to serve. I am praying Mr. West recognizes we are in such a period and need his leadership in the WH beginning Jan 2013.

      George Washington thought he wasn’t ready to be President too, but he was one of our greatest. Then again Obama said he wasn‘t experienced enough and he’s one of our worst. I don‘t think it’s about experience so much as believing in the America people, the American system as it was meant to be, and doing the right thing. Washington had all 3 of these characteristics, Obama has none.

      I agree- Mr.West is a leader with Integrity. I agree with Rep.West on the foolish sale of Tanks to Egypt. Ranks right up there in my opinion of this Amdinistrations role in Selling American made guns to the Mexican Cartels and this Administrations role in arming MS13. No doubt if this President though the could get away with it –he would sell Nuclear technology to Iran , Iraq, Jordan, Turkey, and Egypt.
      IMO he personifies that Mahdi the bloody Muslims are looking forward to embracing.

      In other news, well it may not be other news:

      On 2 July 2011 the Bundessicherheitsrat (Federal Security Council) announced that Germany plans to sell 200 Leopard 2A7+ tanks to Saudi-Arabia.

      These are the latest design tanks with a Rheinmetall 120 mm smoothbore gun with a length of 55 diameters. The M1A1 Abrams tank uses the same gun under license from Rheinmetall with a length of 44 diameters. (Any tankers correct me if this has changed)

      Indeed, the best leaders are those that are pressed into service(servant leadership) rather than those who actively pursuing higher command or authority(personal gain). You are correct that Washington felt unprepared for presidency but had he vast experience in proven and tested leadership matched with a moral compass of what was right for the new country. Obama on the other hand lacks the moral compass and any form of true leadership. Washington’s leadership came through adversity, battle and dependence on Providence. Obama’s brand of leadership comes from “community organizing” or “Chicago-type” politics where you have to know someone to get anything. “For such a time as these” are men called upon to serve. Providence will provide these men/women and we must be willing to support them when we see them. Rep. Adam West is such a man though he is not perfect but then again neither are we.

      So Saudi Arabia, which already has about 315 M1A1 Abrams (at a cost including 2006 upgrades of $5.7 Billion), is pissed off at Obama for throwing Egypt into disarray.

      So the Saudis don’t want any more US tanks it seems.

      And them Obama goes and arms a Egypt with no clear political leadership, and whose frontrunners have vowed to discard the Israel peace treaty, with 125 US main battle tanks.

      If there ends up being a WW III, Obama will have his fingerprints all over it.

So many believe that bo is the worst president ever, but he has been placed in this position for one thing only, and that is to topple this government..this country and he is doing a magnificent job, given the help of his comrades…George Soros, the Cllintons etc. Through the help of teachers, unions, the muslim brotherhood, acorn, etc, our own government, they have taken us over from within. There may be no way to stop it…I don’t see how it is possible…but remember that this is just a short stint in our lives for eternity. They will only be in control until the real King arrives. I believe that politicians should be honest and be men and women of character. I believe in a safety net to help people who can’t help themselves, but they should “teach the man to fish and not just give them the fish.” Let people stand on their own two feet and live honorably. I believe the media should be the watchdogs over corporations and government, not cheerleaders.
      Progressives are doing the very opposite in all of these and that’s why America is so messed up today.

      As a former Military Intelligence Officer, Counterintelligence Corps, who interrogated prisoners and detainees in another war, LTC West’s method was inappropriate but not a war crime. In all branches of the US Military Services, loyalty up, loyalty down is aspired to by all officers. The welfare of the men and women an officer commands is paramount. Further, the successful completion of the mission at hand is a requirement at all ranks aspire to. LTC West demonstrated that loyalty and mission focus. This saves American lives. It also effectivley ended his military career.

      LTC West’s infraction was reduced to an Uniform Code of Military Justice, Article 13, the lowest level of formal punishment in the military.

      LTC West demonstrated that he was an Officer and a Gentleman when he testified that he would go through hell with a gas can to protect his soldiers.

      I would proudly serve with LTC West. I hope he does make a run at the Presidency. We need someone who understands the success of the mission needs loyalty and loyalty down.

      Finally, as you call a honorable soldier a war criminal remember:

      People sleep peacebly in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf

He may think he is ready, but he could do SOOOO much better than what we have now! And God bless him for standing up and speaking out against this insanity of selling military weapons to the enemies of Israel–just when I was beginning to wonder if anybody would? Selling weapons to the enemies of our friends and allies is not only STUPID, it is a violation of our treaty obligations to Israel, and self-destructive to our own interests.       Shalom for now: West is correct, not a good move at this time, what we need in Egypt is a democratic regime established, Israel should make a strong commitment to being a part of that change. The people’s uprising should have ushered in a change, it is unclear to who is in charge now. With in country in economic decline, and the former dictator whose net worth was 50 billion or so, leads one to wonder, Egypt is on the take.

      Furthermore, who is in charge of the military, are they new, are they Mubaraks men, who ordered Sadat killed, still at the helm? Interesting how Mubarak sat next to Sadat that day, and was not hit by machine gun, but emerged moments later looking towards the marching army trucks, old style mob hit in the desert. Any case, US, what are you thinking, who is behind that decision, the enemy of Israel is definitely in a military position high up, and if Obama is with the brotherhood, then he must be removed. I smell an old French Military coup d’etat on the way, no writer nor Hollywood would have ever thought this possible in America. It is the only thing that will save old liberty, it’s time to fish out the snakes that sit in US power.       Sounds like a wonderful solution to our mess with this current POTUS. Pinochet was actually a good guy. Chile was in the hands of a dictator and Pinochet took over.     Why isn’t this information in the news? I pray for our troops. The present POTUS has no interest in their safety. His policies skirt Congress, are pro radical Islaam. Even the getting of Obama has solidified Pakistan leaning toward a Caliphate. He aids insurgents that are in league with the Muslim Brotherhood, while people in Iran and Syria are neglected.

      @Claton54,you are correct,and DNA has proved that the native American Indians are decendents of the lost 10 tribes of Israel,with the Cherokee tribe beinging mentioned that DNA was conducted,and before the 19 century in this nation people were taught that we are part of the lost tribes,for those of you who doubt this,google lost tribes of Israel

      Here are two sites with information about the lost tribes. I don’t agree with the church theology on the first site, and I do believe in Jesus as Messiah which the second site does not, yet. But the information both of them have on the lost tribes is interesting.

      There are no lost tribes, this fairy tale story under minds the word of GOD. If you believe the Bible you should believe GOD created mankind, Adam and Eve. We all therefor would have similar DNA, the ignorance of this fact is probably the biggest deterrent to medical break through in the world. One more thing were did the people in the 19Th century get their DNA test kits Sears & Roebuck?

    BO is muslim and is blatantly encouraging radical islam. He paints these “demonstrators” as poor, innocent people just trying to rid themselves of evil dictators. The way it looks to me is yes, their rulers may be arrogant, rich and oppressive, but isn’t the muslim brotherhood the same?? I would contend they are much, much worse. From talking with people who have lived in the middle east, the citizens of these countries who are not political or religious, are scared to death of the extremists. At least under the thumb of ego-manical dictators, they knew what to expect. And this is what the president of our country supports? He cannot be that naive to think this is better for the citizens. He knows exactly what he’s doing…paving the way for radical islam to create their caliphate and dominate the region, leaving Israel (who he disdains as an “imperialist’ nation) vulnerable.

      Thank you Congressman Alen West for opposing this ludicrous proposal for the sale of 125 US M1A1 Abram Tanks to Egypt. How could our government seriously consider such a thing when Egypt does not have a democratic government in power at this time. By the way the wind is blowing after the “revolution in Egypt” the country will be taken over by Muslim extremists who are not friends of the USA or Israel. I don’t believe the common American citizen will fail to see the real motive behind such a sale of offensive weapons to Egypt, the destruction of the State of Israel. I‘m positive that Israel is aware of the eventual consequences of such an act to it’s freedom and stability.

      The mere possibility of putting 125 US M1A1 Abram Tanks, the most sofisticated armored vehicles in the USA Arsenal, into the hands of the Muslim Brotherhood is unthinkable and preposterous. Why would the USA authorize such a sale knowing that eventually the tanks will be used against the State of Israel and to destabilize the whole region of the Middle East. They might as well be sold to Hamas and Hezbollah forces. Sounds like another “Fast and Furious” scam except the weapons envolved are
      capable of killing tens of thousands of innocent victims. The current USA dministration is completely out of control and is a danger to democracy and world peace.

    Obummer pledges billions of dollars to Egypt then they turn around and take that money to buy our tanks back from us.These idiots have no idea what the hell their doing.Give the radicals our tanks to use back on us when we have to go in their to defend against the radicals.Or the march over to Israel and use them on them.
