When Noel Gold’s young sown borrowed his wedding band 44 years ago and lost it, he never expected to see it again. But he was wrong.
KSL-TV reports:
When he loaned the ring to his son, he’d been wearing it for more than 20 years.
The ring had apparently rolled into a floor heating vent at the ward house in Murray and was undetected for about six years.
That‘s when the Gold’s long-time friends of 37 years, Jay and Enid Thompson come into the picture. The two couples used to attend church at the same church, but when ward boundaries changed, the Golds went to another ward. …
“We were standing in line to get a plate of food at this church social and I looked down and saw it and reached down and picked it up,” Enid Thompson said.
She did her best to locate the owner of the ring. Engraved inside the band were the letters “N” and “M”. Mrs. Thompson checked church rolls and phone lists with no luck. So the ring stayed in her jewelry box for nearly four decades.
Then, on November 2nd, the Golds and the Thompsons just happened to run into each other at Cottonwood High School to vote in the 2010 election. And the mystery was solved.
“I walked in and stood in line, and you could see in the voting booths, and they were there”, Enid says. “And that light just came on like that to ask them about the ring!”
Noel couldn’t believe it.
“I was in a state of shock almost,” he said.
The Golds never thought they’d see the ring again, but they never replaced it either. “It just didn’t feel right,” Noel said.
The couple just celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary. With their original rings.

Posted on November 13, 2010 at 4:38amI once let my son put on my wedding ring. Dad called him upstairs. He ran up, skipping steps and swinging his arms around as young boys do. After awhile I asked for it back and he have it, didn’t even remember it. We didn’t remember that he had run up the stairs. We looked all over. We borrowed a metal detector, and began looking outdoors. I told my seven kids that I would give a reward if anyone of them found it. We gave up for awhile. One day the ring fell down, as if from the ceiling, near my daughter, who was fixing the garbage can in the kitchen. It could have fallen into the garbage. You see, there was a hole in the floor at the top of the stairs. It had stayed stuck in that hole until that very time. It felt so amazing to me at that time – the way it was found.

Posted on November 12, 2010 at 3:59amBTW, for anyone who has ever lost something at Disney World – write to ‘em and tell where you lost something in the park – they just may have it. I lost a camera/flash attachment years ago in a space mountain car and wrote to ‘em. They sent the camera back. I then wrote about the missing flash – they sent it back as well! Have two letters on Disney letterhead – thought it pretty amazing!

Posted on November 11, 2010 at 1:35pmGreat story, and a great marriage. I wonder if those attributing this to God also credit God with losing the ring? Just curious.

Posted on November 11, 2010 at 1:50pmYou betcha we do. Sometimes he has to take from us so that we learn to appreciate what he has given us. It makes us stronger and better.
Kind of like our Republic. This great nation will fall if we don’t take steps to keep it safe.
Thank you to all the armed services, active and veterans, who put their lives on the line to keep me and my family out of harms way.

Posted on November 11, 2010 at 6:35pmGod sometimes only allows challenging things to happen to us. He doesn’t neccessarily CAUSE them, he just doesn’t stop them. He has the power to save us from any and all inconvience and difficulty, but He doesn’t always do so. That‘s why we’re here. So He–and we– can see what we’re made of and so we can learn. When He helps us, it affirms our faith in Him. When He withholds His help for a moment, it strengthens that same faith.

Posted on November 11, 2010 at 12:31pmWe were married in 1968. One day while golfing with my husband, he took his wedding band off and I took mine off and gave it to him for safe keeping. After the round of golf I asked for my ring back and it was gone….. I cried for 3 months and called the golf course every day. I had just given up when we received a call from the golf course saying that they had found the ring, with a few dents in it, buried in the dirt. Unfortunately, I never did find out who found it to thank them ….. We’ll be celebrating our 43rd anniversary in January….….. miracles do happen

I had a party once and a couple was on our dock and the man lost his wedding band through the cracks in the dock. When they sobered up and realized it the next morning they went looking for it and found it. I was surprised to say the least.

Posted on November 11, 2010 at 12:24pmNo, this could happen anywhere that God wishes for it to happen.
Seen in Florida one time where my church was helping a young man who became homeless with getting a hot meal, his first in awhile; when I went back to the front office, his family came inside with flyers showing his picture and asking us if we knew anything of where he would be.
The reunion to say the least was great. Only God could do this.

Then about 4 years later my buddy went camping at a small pond in oregon were i use to live. He seen some glass sticking out of the sand and come to find it was a glass pipe. When he cleaned it he realized that he had seen it before (glass pipes are all unique). it ends with him calling me and then coming to see me in Idaho. It was my old pipe.
