In a bid to try and create a healthier ice cream product, the food chemist Ingolf Gruen of Missouri (MU) is adding fiber, pro-biotic bacteria and antioxidants to the food.

Thanks to years of research by a scientist at Missouri University, we’re about to experience a quantum leap in food technology.
Healthy ice cream will be a reality in our lifetime.
Science is working to combine healthy elements (vitamins, supplements, etc) with foods that we all like to eat and ice cream is right up there atop the ‘like to eat’ list. It also turns out that ice cream is a perfect medium for delivering fiber, antioxidants, and probiotics. The trick is in the blend. Just like the secret recipe for Coca-Cola, if a perfect mix can be achieved, there are tens of billions of dollars to be made.
As reported by Dairy.com, this new ‘multifunctional’ ice cream is just around the corner;
The brilliant Mr. Gruen told the media;
“I might be wrong, but the current “functional ice creams” have either probiotics, fiber or are antioxidant rich, but none that has all three.”
Functional Foods, an interesting concept that has been around for some time, but has never quite broken through with a product that is healthy and tasty. Until now.
First Lady Michelle Obama wants America to get healthy and why not? A country filled with healthier people will ease some of the financial strain on our economy as well as make for a happier population overall. I am joining her crusade and will be starting a diet tomorrow. This diet is going to be full of fiber, antioxidants, and those beneficial probiotics Jamie Lee Curtis is always talking about. And it’s going to be an ice cream diet.

Posted on April 27, 2011 at 7:43amThe best ice cream I have ever eaten was homemade from dairy products produced on the ranch, the ice for the ice cream maker was from a snow bank about 1 mile above the ranch and this all took place at the 4th of July picnic at a place 8000 ft. up in the Colorado Rockies. Now they want to screw all this up with stupid additives.

It is much healthier to eat something real, that is loaded with fat, than to eat something that is supposedly “healthier” but contains ingredients made by scientists from God knows what. If that is the case, I’ll stick with The Ben & Jerry’s thank you very much.

Go ask the guy who pumps out sewer tanks or works at your citys sewer plant what is most of the mass in our crap – VITAMINS! If you eat a healthy natural diet including all natural ice cream (milk, eggs, natural fruits) you don’t need suplimented anything. I wonder how much government grant money is going into this research. What a waste.

Oh that is no fun. I saw the video and must say I feel terrible for the man and will pray for his swift recovery and hope the best for him. But there are a few things I would like to point out.
1. After the accident it did finally push the man into proposing with his gf with her saying yes. Imagine if you were 300 feet or more high in the air, someone just might finally find their ambition in life falling that far.
2. People are usually more safe on the ground than in the air. Plane crashes to automobile accidents are a prime example of this.
3. Jet packs and flying cars will have special cpu’s inserted that help prevent crashes in the air. The reason because flying cars and jet packs are just cool like that.

Also assuming the FDA will make sure they use homogenized milk–so good for you!–and probably enough to derail any antioxydant effect.
