NEW YORK (AP) — A spokeswoman says an American woman who was held in Iran for more than 13 months has returned to the United States.
Spokeswoman Samantha Topping says Sarah Shourd arrived in the country Sunday morning. She wouldn’t specify where but says Shourd is on her way to New York for a news conference later Sunday.
Shourd, her fiance and another man were detained in July 2009 along the Iran-Iraq border. Iran has accused them of spying. Their families say they were hiking, and if they crossed the border, they did so accidentally.
Shourd was freed Tuesday. Officials in Oman mediated a $500,000 bail.
Her fiance, Shane Bauer, and their friend Josh Fattal are still being held.
Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is also due in New York on Sunday.

It has the most beautiful hiking trails and scenery you will find anywhere in the world and here there’s little or no danger of being jailed for hiking or even spying.
I don’t know what those three were trying to prove but it seems like some kind of an outreach effort to prove to the world that the Iranians are just misunderstood and not the animals we portray them to be. Well, Suzie–Change your mind yet???
