America’s Iron Lady? Bachmann Campaign Turns to Gender Card

Is Bachmann Playing the Gender Card?

Counting on a strong finish in Iowa, the Associated Press reports that Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann is increasingly stressing her gender as a distinction in the crowded Republican presidential field.

“She’s made the gender card central to her closing argument. She‘s urging voters to embrace the idea of a ’strong woman in the White House‘ and is molding herself as ’America‘s Iron Lady’ in the vein of former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher.”

Iowa has never elected a woman as governor or to its congressional delegation, and some have speculated that her closing strategy may cost her some conservatives who have more traditional views about gender roles.

Bachmann rarely drew attention to her gender early in the campaign, but AP notes she‘s been hitting the theme hard as Tuesday’s caucuses near.

“I’m an Iowa girl. And one thing I remember about Iowa is we are a state of strong women,” Bachmann told the lunch crowd at a 50s-themed burger joint in Mount Ayr. “We need a strong woman to turn this country around, right?”

Bachmann was born in Iowa, and rose to prominence in the Republican presidential primary campaign after winning the state’s Ames straw poll over the summer, in turn ending the campaign of former Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty. The Minnesota congresswoman’s presidential campaign has lost some steam in the state since then, finishing sixth with only 7 percent support in the final Des Moines Register poll before the January 3 Iowa Caucus released Saturday.

Bachmann spoke from the pulpit of Jubilee Family Church in Oskaloosa, Iowa Sunday morning, where the Los Angeles Times reports she preached for half an hour not on politics, but her own personal story of salvation. On the sidewalk outside the church following the service, Bachmann said she was not worried about evangelical voters deserting her for outspoken social conservative and surging former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum.

The New York Times notes that Bachmann has said she expects “astounding results” that are nothing short of miraculous in Tuesday’s caucuses. The Times reports that outside the church the Minnesota congresswoman stressed that she would continue to fight for “faith, marriage and the protection of life from conception to natural death” because “it matters what’s true. It matters what’s right.”

I don’t know if she can beat Obama and his gangsters, and their ‘end justifies the means’ Godless mentality, or their warped image of a Marxist god. But she is the most aggresive one of the bunch. It‘d be nice to see Nancy P’s face at the moment of a Bachmann presidential victory. HA!

I hope she has a big role in the government, if the Right wins. She’s a scrapper all right.
Obama has made America a hemophiliac…as well as making the first cut. In the middle of the heart, no less. If he gets in again America is done, and ‘freedom’ will be a word only to be whispered.

So when the rubber hits the road, Anybody But Obama.

God, Please Bless America. Let us return to You.

So right FREE2SPEAK. But the media will be ruthless and relentless with any candidate. Much to my dismay, their all-out nasty tactics worked with Palin. And what they did to Palin is still having repercussions here. People are afraid that the media will succeed in doing the same to Bachmann.

And she is right! It is totally a gender issue! The right is afraid to nominate a woman because they KNOW the msm will RIDICULE the very voice she will use to defend herself. But be careful, they would most likely do the same with Romney’s voice and image. I hear that SNL wants Paul….

Bringing down the Islamic/Marxist/Pansexual/Feminist/Globalist/Climate Change and the rest of their (power-mongering, rabid, hate-fueled anti-Christ) coalition can only be achieved by an act of G-D.

This is a spiritual enemy – and no human force or material weapons guns, bombs, or political deals, ballots, no counterterrorist campaigns, no counterprotests, nothing can bring it down but an Act of G-D.

Only the Sword of the LORD and His spiritual weapons can defeat this enemy of our souls and of righteousness and peace. Isaiah 31:8-9, II Corinthians 10:4-5 and II Chronicles 7:14

Glenn Beck’s campaigns: Honor, Courage and Love tell us what we can and must do. We must Faith, Humility, Repentance, Return to God’s Word, Truth and Life are our part. Our nation is worth saving and can be restored – only if we are restored to G-D.

Those doing well in polls are basically big government anti Tea Party. I am all about Tea Party values, I honestly believe Michele is not polling well because the conservatives will never ever have a woman represent them. When she is far more conservative and pure than anyone in the field, what other way can you explain what is happening?? I smell a stinky fish..

CONNIPTION FITZ Social liberalism. You mean those who do not wish to tell others how to live? You wish to legislate morals. Okay. Who’s morals shall we legislate? Mine? Yours? The guy down the street’s? Tell me something. What is the difference in legislating morals and Sharia Law?

I say, as long as it doesn‘t hurt anyone other than perhaps the one ’indulging‘ in the ’act,‘ then it shouldn’t be legislated. Our Constitution doesn’t give the power to the government to do such things. STATES can, but not the Feds. Look, it’s the same as alcohol and when they had prohibition. It leads to gangs and violence with a small number of people making piles of money from the blackmarket. They finally understood that people that wanted to drink were going to drink, law or not. Now there is no law against it but if you hurt someone under the influence there is a penalty. States, counties and even cities have the right to be ‘dry’ and many are (counties and cities anyway.) Just because some want the Feds to drop the laws on social/moral issues doesn’t mean they are FOR the issue. They simply want the brakes put on the Feds and give the power back to the rightful owners the States and the people. It really is that simple.

Oh, what would Jesus do? Did he not save a woman who was going to be stoned to death under the ‘law’ for adultery? What laws did God give us? Jesus didn’t advocate for more laws on moral issues. He was satisfied with the laws God, Himself, handed down. The bible does say that those who engage are going to hell, but they didn’t have laws against the acts. It‘s a good thing to talk to people about how you feel and try to persuade them to do ’right.’ Jesus talked to them, loved them, led by example. He didn’t go and try to force them into His way of thinking and believing. We have become the modern day Philistines. So worried about ‘law’ and pushing morals on people through force of law. No wonder we now have more missionaries coming HERE to evangelize than anywhere else in the world. We have lost our way when it comes to loving each other. Sad.. very sad.

Secondly, his statement of: “If Iran wants to have nuclear weapons, they should have them.” ruined any chance of him be elected. That’s what Ron Paul believes, and he has stated it over and over again. Ron Paul believes that the worse enemy of the USA; those who celebrated the attacks of 09/11, have some kind of “right” to have weapons with nuclear capabilities. That’s just nuts.

You must believe that Iran is one of the strongest nations on the planet. Research. We could wipe out Irans navy in one day! How are they a threat to us? I was in the U.S. Navy and understand that to be a force in this world, you have to have a strong Navy. It is all bunk. If Isreal felt toward the U.S. as Iran does, there would be some concern as they have the fourth strongest military in the world. Please watch this video, it is Pauls foreign policy in a nutshell and is done in a way that makes it entertaining.nLet me know what you think. I do have more also. Rick Santorum needs a charisma implant, stat! Rick Perry has no talent at debating, and Obama would eat him for lunch. Ron Paul is a Republican? I don’t believe so.

I would thoroughly enjoy debates between Obama and Gingrich. Gingrich (the intelligent one) versus the teleprompter President, who was raised by Communists and Socialists. Then there is Romney. He’s the establishment, endorsed, Republican candidate, and it’s “his turn”. Remember when it was Bob Dole’s turn? That didn’t turn out very well.

The thing that I’m positive about, is that if Obama is re-elected, the America that existed before the Socialists and Marxists came into power, will be forever gone.

The USA will be like every other Country across the Globe. No longer will someone who is dirt poor be able to rise to the top on their own merit. The “new” USA will be: if you’re born rich, you stay rich. If you’re born poor, you stay poor.

Meanwhile Santorum might as well declare that the first thing he would do if president is go to war with the entire Middle East. One of the things that you can really say about Paul is that there is no confliction – that there is only one question he asks when determining policy: does this fit with the Constitution and the ideals of a free society? The others seem to carve out quite a lot of exceptions to the Constitution for banning drugs, forgetting to declare war, etc.

Shylow, sorry to say, pretty much. Ron Paul is the only one that is really up in arms over this. Who would have thought that? They are getting things in place with the Patriot Act and this that is being deemed Patriot Act 2. When the world economies fall, the U.N. will step in and use these laws against us. They will finally get the Weapons trade treaty signed and will use our military to take us over. Now I believe that 80% of our military will refuse these orders and this bill will be used to label them as terrorists and send them to Gitmo. The original Patriot Act will be used against us as we band together with our weapons, they will kick in the door, label us terrorists and send us to Gitmo. Paul wants to bring our troops home, shore up our borders, and build up our military here instead of sending the money overseas. He would then fight against the U.N. and try to keep our Constitution and bill of rights. Don’t be fooled by the establishment as they want the NWO as they think it is the only way. This plan has been in place for a long time, look up The Vancouver Declaration of Human Settlements from 1976. That may open many eyes.

Ron Paul didn’t vote for it. Michelle Bachmann did. I believe they are the only two candidates currently serving in the House or Senate. The Blaze has probably been downplaying the story because more Democrats voted against it than Republicans, and they don’t like to report stories that don’t support the narrative of the Democrats being the greatest danger to libertarian values. Obama signed it, but of course the National Defense Authorization Act is something that has to pass in some form or other so we can pay for the army. If he vetoed it and tried to hold out for a clean version it could delay it for months. I don’t know what I would have done if I were him.

I should clarify my last post. I wrote that more Democrats voted against it than Republicans. That was true in the House by a sizable margin. In the Senate there was much lass opposition, more evenly divided. Only six Republicans, six Democrats and one Independent voted against it, with one Republican abstaining.

I agree. When she raises her voice to emphasize a point, it voice takes on that nagging wife/bitchy woman tone that just puts men into fight or flight mode. With the tube on mute, I am in agreement with what she says. Her tone aside, she is my candidate of choice. Which isn’t saying much, as in Kansas, we are pretty much just along for the ride.

She is the purest conservative who is championing small central government, cutting scores of unneeded agencies, balancing the books, securing the border (not telling us we are heartless for desiring secure borders and respect for our laws), wiping out Obama Care stronger than other typical political reactions and for foreign policy hands down the best!! Just think how having that strong and beautiful woman dropping the hammer on the mullahs and dark age sheiks of the muslim world. Those dark age tyrants would be humiliated having to their ass kicked by a 95 lb lady. Also look at those who hate her; abortionist, suckular humanist, the hellywood culture, marxist/socialists ie “ the demoncratic party machine”, homosexuals, lesbians, pornographers, pedophiles, ACLU, and all reprobates.

I like Michelle‘s stances for the most part and don’t see why she’s not doing higher in the polling. While she did have a couple strikes against her with a couple of her votes (Patriot Act) and some of her viscious attacks during the dabates, one major plus with her was that she held the line on the Debt Limit. She may have a point in regard tor biblical conservatives (Isaiah 3, etc) with the gender card. Her repetitions about the number of children and foster children just wore on my nerves also.

Behind Paul she is number 2 to me. Don’t believe I could vote for any of the others at all…just don’t trust them, or I should say I trust them to do “more of the same” based upon their history.

Its the Alex Jones NEOCON comments by dopes like you are precisely why I’ve turned my back to Ron Paul. Any time I hear neocon its obvious where it comes from . Alex Jones cult members are the only group that use the term neocon. Ron Paul should have shut that sweaty loon up long before he tossed his hat in the ring (yet again). Jones and his koolaid drinkers turn more people off from Paul than converting anyone.

People who will vote for Ron Paul are voting for radical change from the ways both D and R have run things. Alot of people who let Bill, Sean, Mark, Glenn, and Rush tell them who to vote for dont get it.

      Posted on January 2, 2012 at 2:46am

The neoconservative movement is based on the philosophy that the “Old Right” (Robert “Mr. Republican” Taft, etc.) and its non-interventionist, free-market opposition to the New Deal liberalism was wrong, and what is needed is a mixed approach between the New Deal/Great Society and true free markets – and also war, or the willingness to go to war over just about anything. Neoconservatism is rooted in a group of former liberals, who in the late 1960s, began to oppose many of the policies and principles associated with President Lyndon Johnson’s Great Society programs. However, the philosphy as a whole is less concerned with social programs – generally supporting any that already exist, while fighting new ones – than with foreign policy, where it is all about fighting the enemy, and even blowing small threats out of proportion to get an enemy to help them maintain power. Their foreign policy, then, is really Wilsonian, supporting “spreading democracy” and nation-building.

On the economic side, neocons are, according to neocon Irving Kristol, more relaxed about budget deficits and tend to reject the Hayekian notion that the growth of government influence on society and public welfare is “the road to serfdom”. Instead they opt for “moral” guidance of the economy and society from on high in Washington. Hence, neoconservatism is almost the opposite of Constitutional conservatism – and supported by most Republican candidates now, excepting Congressman Paul.

I do not mind a woman leader just someone better then the turds we have as politicians. Someone like Margaret Thatcher, Dilma Rousseff, Michaëlle Jean, or even Julia Gillard. Beautiful women and very good leaders.

Yea thats obvious when your handle reads “muslimbyfaith”!! Women leaders!! your against women leaders no kidding; your faith is against women period. Your faith forces young girls to have genital mutilations, stones them to death for being raped, forbids them to drive cars, have them walk in back of you, Put bags or scarfs over their head and face, and in general treat them worse than dogs!! And pal you tell us you are against women leaders— no kidding, but you did not have to say that; with your muslim faith, thats a given.

You’re entitled to your own opinion. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but you do not know anything about Islam and how women are portrayed in Islam. My girlfriend is a Muslim and she is not lesser then I am or ever had a genital mutilation. She knows how drive but doesn’t know how to ride a bike. So, we’re going to work on that. Many people just do not understand Islam and see it as this negative. Coming back to the genital mutilation different cultures in Africa practice that; whether their Muslim or not. Benazir Bhutto was a famous leader and has many fans still after her death. Throughout history all people of all faiths are guilty in hurting others. I can admit Islam has not had a perfect history. Same with all other faiths and people of non-beliefs. We all have our black sheep. Just let God be the final judge.
