Amish Man Busted for Allegedly Sexting Explicit Pics, Video to a 12 Year Old Girl

Amish sexter Willard Yoder's mugshot

An Amish man has been detained by police after allegedly sending hundreds of sexually-explicit messages to a 12-year-old girl. A sting operation led to the arrest after the man drove his buggy (yes, horse and carriage) to a local Indiana restaurant to meet the young girl. The Smoking Gun has more:

Nabbed in an undercover sting, Willard Yoder, 21, is facing four felony counts for allegedly soliciting sex from the minor. Yoder, pictured in the mug shot at [left], is free on $20,000 bond.

In one text, Yoder told the girl that, “the proposed sex act would happen inside the buggy,” according to a Connersville Police Department report.

Initially, Yoder had “by chance” contacted the girl’s phone via text. After her parents became aware of the inappropriate communications, they took over messaging (pretending to be their daughter) and contacted authorities for assistance. Police arranged the trick restaurant meeting, where Yoder later purportedly admitted he thought he was going to have sex with the girl.

Investigators say that he cooperated when they approached. They claim, he “walked his horse and buggy around the building and tied it to a post outside.” Watch the ABC News report, below, for more:

Our Amish around here get married off at 14 with parental consent. Yoder needs to wait a couple more years. He’s a little old to not be married though, so there must be some more issues.

    When will these idiots learn?
Here is a basic rule of thumb.
If she says she is 18, its an underage girl. STAY AWAY
If she says she is an underage girl, it’s a cop. STAY AWAY
In general just STAY AWAY FROM underage girls. There are plenty of 20-25 YO who can and will rock your world.

This man is an idiot and needs to be jailed. However, I cannot help but notice that his religion was named and a picture of him was shown. The fact that he was Amish almost nails down the fact he was white and then with the picture…you know he is. If he were black his race would never be mentioned and his picture would never be shown. If he were muslim…his religion would not be mentioned. I am sick and tired of the double standard and cannnot take much more of it.

They rent drivers and vehicles to tax free contracting jobs and same with the emergency rooms where they also pay no communal taxes let alone the bill. I was surprised to find their craftsmanship is shoddy and 3rd rate anymore. Now their kids are technopervs. Thye have assimilated.

I am also frustrated that the news, including the Blaze of all things, would stress his religion. Making more fodder for the liberals to tout their idiocies He committed a crime by soliciting a 12 year old, pure and simple. His so-called faith has nothing to do with the actual crime.

I’m guessing (hoping?) that the reason the man’s religion was mentioned was because of his use of technology, which traditional Amish avoid. The cognitive dissonance created by the juxtaposition of “cell phone” with “horse and buggy” is unexpected, and results in an interesting/humorous story.

The comment regarding Islam is bizarre. It’s always tempting to call out as hypocrites those who hold devout religious beliefs, be they Muslim, Mormon, Buddhist, etc. The fact that religious preference is NOT mentioned in the headlines of these types of reports indicates restraint among the journalistic community. After all, how many stories about rapes committed by Christians do you ever see?

Just a lesson of how sin knows no boundries, respects no particular faith. It is the duty of all christians to pray often so we don’t fall into snares set by the enemy of all rightousness who is known by many names. When we least expect it, when we are in a weakened state (emotionally, financially), when we think WE got it covered, that’s when we should expect to be tried the most. Never stop praying for our fellow man (or woman), stranger, friend, or family, it serves us all well.

The fact that he‘s 21 and is living the Amish life implies he’s been baptized in the faith after deciding to remain in it. He’ll get shunned now. One more inmate my state taxes go toward housing and following his incarceration he’ll almost certainly end up on welfare. Some Amish may have Cell phones. I asked that question of an Amish friend of mine. He said that it depended on the Bishops of their particular church. Amish people may have a cell phone if they have a business. Every Amish sect is different. However, the hearts of men are all the same, “wicked and full of deceit”. The remedy is the same though for all men – Accepting the gift Jesus gave by dying for our sin and following hard after Him.

Not necessarily. We live in the heart of Amish country and have many Amish friends. Everybody knows about the “no lights, no phones, no motorcars – not a single luxury” rules, but what most people don’t see is that for every one of these rules, there are about a dozen loopholes.

For instance, you can have electric lights in the house, as long as they’re connected to a generator in the barn. You can have a phone, just not in the house. You can’t have a car, but you can borrow somebody else’s (most Amish don’t do this, though, because it would require them to get a drivers’ liscence.)

When you drive past an Amish farm. you’ll see a little house by the side of the road that looks like an outhouse. It isn’t an outhouse. It’s where they keep their telephone. Seriously.

We have some Amish friends who own a grocery store. At home, they’re not allowed to have any of the “luxuries” we consider essential to our daily living. But at the store, they have all the lights, computers, etc, that any other store does.
