Was That an Ed Schultz Segment or an SNL Skit?

How do you boost ratings? Ed Schultz has an idea. Invite a mild-mannered Republican on your show as a guest, pair him with a wild, shoot-from-the hip Democrat who doubles as a satellite radio host, throw them some political meat called “Bush tax cuts,” and watch them fight over it.
That pretty much describes the “Ed Show” segment from Tuesday night, when Ed hosted GOP strategist Ron Christie and Democratic radio host Joe Madison. All Schultz had to do was ask their thoughts on the tax cuts, sit back, and watch the segment degenerate into what on Saturday night would pass for an SNL skit.
Don’t believe me? Here’s the opening statement from Madison, where he calls for Democrats to take to the streets:
We ought to be in the streets. We ought to be jumping on these greedy Republicans who have the audacity to try to keep going what they had going on for the last ten years. Here’s what I would tell Republicans: okay, baby, it’s in your court right now. Create the jobs. And you’ve got 13 months to get these people off unemployment that you’ve held hostage…Ron is full of it. This is an attempt to just allow rich people to maintain their hundred thousand three hundred thousand four hundred thousand. Create jobs or shut the hell up.
It was all down hill from there (especially when Christie tried to reason with Madison):

Posted on December 8, 2010 at 8:10amI think this is all fine. In the marketplace of ideas, it’s very important that people like Ed Schulz have the opportunity to present their wares. The fact that no one is buying it (based on his ratings) gives us great comfort in knowing that few Americans actually buy into this tripe.

Posted on December 8, 2010 at 8:07amBut then came Rossiter…………….
For more than 40 years, he diagnosed and treated over 1,500 patients as a board-certified clinical psychiatrist and examined more than 2,700 civil and criminal cases, both state and federal, as a board-certified forensic psychiatrist retained by numerous public offices, courts and private attorneys. He received his medical and psychiatric training at the University of Chicago.
Rossiter explains with great clarity why the kind of liberalism being displayed by Barack Obama can only be understood as a psychological disorder.
“Based on strikingly irrational beliefs and emotions, modern liberals relentlessly undermine the most important principles on which our freedoms were founded,” says Rossiter. “Like spoiled, angry children, they rebel against the normal responsibilities of adulthood and demand that a parental government meet their needs from cradle to grave.”
“A social scientist who understands human nature will not dismiss the vital roles of free choice, voluntary cooperation and moral integrity – as liberals do,” he says. “A political leader who understands human nature will not ignore individual differences in talent, drive, personal appeal and work ethic, and then try to impose economic and social equality on the population – as liberals do.
And a legislator who understands human nature will not create an environment of rules which overregulates and overtaxes the nation’s citizens, corrupts their character and reduces them to wards of the state – as liberals do.”
Rossiter says the liberal agenda preys on weakness and feelings of inferiority in the population by:
* creating and reinforcing perceptions of victimization;
* satisfying infantile claims to entitlement, indulgence and compensation;
* augmenting primitive feelings of envy;
* rejecting the sovereignty of the individual, subordinating him to the will of the government.
“The roots of liberalism – and its associated madness – can be clearly identified by understanding how children develop from infancy to adulthood and how distorted development produces the irrational beliefs of the liberal mind,” he says. “When the modern liberal mind whines about imaginary victims, rages against imaginary villains and seeks above all else to run the lives of persons competent to run their own lives, the neurosis of the liberal mind becomes painfully obvious.”
* from the book — “The Liberal Mind: The Psychological Causes of Political Madness,” written by Dr. Lyle Rossiter. *

Posted on December 8, 2010 at 9:23amIf during normal times, this show would naturally fail- should have already. It won’t fail because it is being propped up. Like it or not, this is what the liberal left want you to hear. The FCC wants to remove networks that at least try to listen to all sides, offering the American people the opportunity to decide for themselves. This was so hard to watch- I wanted to yell at my computer. Why can’t they see that this was not a win for Republican politicians, but for all the people who took to the polls in November and voted the dems out of the house- otherwise, Obama would have carried on as he has done for the past two years allowing bills that the majority of the people do not want.
These are not normal times folks, and it scares me that ANYONE in the media would call on the people to take to the streets “jumping on these greedy Republicans.”

Problem is that not only can it convince those open to manipulation by receiving something for nothing, but it can even more effectively strengthen opposition that is just becoming more and more justified to these very same previously attractive points of view.Point of proof was the more Obama tried to convince Americans of the benefits and net improvement of his health care overhaul, yhe more he made them wonder why he was repeating himself so often if it was so obviously a benefit.
