Glenn Beck Describes Restoring Love

In the wake of what proved to be a truly historic week of service and charity, we sat down with Glenn to get his thoughts on how Restoring Love completes the Restoring trilogy he began two years ago in Washington D.C., how he feels coming out of this remarkable chapter of his life, and what comes next.

Standing just outside the 50 yard line of Dallas Cowboys Stadium waiting to walk out in front of the tens of thousands of people who had gathered to hear him deliver what may have been the best event of his career, Glenn remembers exactly how he felt. “I felt like a caged animal,” he recalled.

Three years of remarkable events culminated in a historic week that celebrated service, freedom, and, most importantly, love. Glenn had a very busy week – attending events like FreePac and Under God: Indivisible, while over 30,000 volunteers from around the world descended on north Texas to serve 305 organizations in the Dallas area. For three years Glenn has been telling his audience to stand where God tells them to stand, and last week it looked like future of America was with the thousands who had chosen to come and stand beside him in Texas.

The idea for Restoring Love came to Glenn just a few days after Restoring Courage. He flew from Israel to South Africa to give a speech to religious leaders. In the short time he was in South Africa, he saw firsthand the poverty that continues to exist in the country. He thought of Nelson Mandela, and the situation he found himself in just a few decades before. Mandela could have called for a bloody revolution, but instead he pleaded with people and politicians from all backgrounds and ideologies to choose love. Glenn, who wears a bracelet with Mandela’s prison number inscribed on his wrist, knew then and there that his next event would have to capture that same spirit.

Like Restoring Honor and Restoring Courage before it, Glenn said he knew that Restoring Love was going to center around God, only this time the theme would call for us to stand together and serve one another.

“The line that I wrote about three weeks ago that I knew would be the biggest line of the speech – ‘Witness the Third Great Awakening’ – is absolutely true,” he said. “That may have been the message of look, if you put God back in his place, and you are serving people, and you are speaking without fear, He will come.”

The Restoring Love weekend had an incredible kickoff with Thursday night’s FreePac event at American Airlines Arena. Conservative leaders from around the globe came together with one message in mind: it is time for us to stand up to the establishment. Glenn’s speech had a similar tone – he read Rudyard Kipling’s “The Gods of the Copybook Headings” and told the crowd that they were putting not only Washington, but the world, on notice.

“Here’s what I want you to know,” Glenn said to those gathered at the arena. “I believe this is the largest gathering of independent-minded conservatives ever in the history of America. I believe that tomorrow with over 30,000 volunteers doing service in the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex it is the largest collection of volunteers doing service ever in America. And I hear there are a few people coming to the stadium as well. This should freak out the people in power, not only in Washington, but all around the world.”

The problems we are facing are not ones that political parties can fix, but they are problems that faith in God and strongly rooted principles will fix. “America is great because America is good,” Glenn said.

Following the historic Day of Service on Friday, Glenn attended a gathering of religious leaders that night at High Point Church – the perfect capstone to an incredible day. The meeting called for people of faith to find common ground in order to address the challenges that face us as a nation.

“At the religious event I had no idea what I was going to say,” Glenn explained. “I just prayed in the car on the way over, ‘Ok, tell me what you want me to say.’ And I walked up there and knew exactly what to say. It was – I mean, I never speak for 10 minutes, but it was a 10 minute speech, and it was very good. I just know that God is with the nation, and He is not uninvolved.”

His speech that night was short and succinct, qualities not typical of a Glenn speech, but the message couldn’t have been clearer.

“Did you do what you were supposed to do,” Glenn asked the crowd during his speech. “Believe me. When the Lord comes, anyone who is pointing the finger at the other one is in trouble first. United we stand. Divided we fall.”

By the time Saturday arrived, it was clear that the event was going to be something special. Months of preparation had led to this moment, and as the clock winded down toward 8 o’clock, the energy in Cowboys Stadium was nothing short of electric.

“I think I said to the gospel choir because they were standing next to me like, ‘Come on. Let’s go,’” Glenn said. “I said, ‘You too?! I feel like a caged animal.’ I mean we had waited and waited and waited to go, so it like let’s go! You get yourself so heated up and ready to go and do it.”

After Alex Boye’s stirring National Anthem captivated the crowd, Glenn emerged onto the field in a moment that was nothing short of incredible. The audience erupted in cheers and leapt to its feet as Glenn made his way to the stage.

“There is nothing like being in the round at Dallas Cowboys Stadium,” Glenn said still sounding a little awestruck. “That is dangerous for the ego. I don’t recommend you let any politician ever do that because it will make them do anything for another sip of that feeling.”

The night just got better from there with Glenn intertwining music, history, and charity in ways it has never been done before, and he seems pleased with the results.

“For the first time of the three, I don’t feel like we didn’t say anything that we were supposed to say,” Glenn said. “You know, I worried after each one if we said what we were supposed to say. I am just filled with optimism after last week.”

Saturday night at Cowboys Stadium Glenn delivered what is arguably the greatest speech of his career, and tomorrow we will reveal just how the speech that took 14 drafts and nearly five months to perfect came to be.

Am I the only one that is frustrated that Glenn is on vacation again this week? I signed up for GBTV last year before it even went on the air or internet or whatever a new network of this type is called. I did this because I am a huge fan of Glenn’s. I don’t really care for the other shows; I pay for the subscription to see Glenn. It is not really GBTV without GB. Does anyone else think this or is it just me?

I agree he deserves every minute of a vacation, and he does have some really great guest hosts so it does make up for his absence…a little bit. Hugh, I know what you mean, but in the big picture of what Glenn is doing, you may be a little selfish. I don’t mean this in a bad way, it happens, I understand. Glenn keeps telling you that this is the station all of us is building and for Generations this Network, the Books, the Movies and the News Stories will be there to educate millions. In other words, you are helping to build a bridge that you may never cross yourself, but will help so many for years to come.

Actually, I wish Glenn would go away more often. He provides great leadership to the network but I really think he has pretty much nailed his message, finally, and there’s a limit to how often you can say “It’s about God, Stupid” and not get boring.* I would like Glenn to switch to a longer-format, once-a-week (Saturday?) show where he can remind us all that “It’s about God, Stupid” and for the rest of the week use this great platform to give other freedom-loving conservatives a voice. It took me a long time to warm up to Real News because, while it is a great show for what it is, I am still waiting to see the Holmes Report, the Cain Hour, the Sexton Review, the Cupp Room, the Hallowell Show, the Loesch Show, the Wilkow Hour…(well, I guess we are getting the Wilkow hour finally which is awesome.) The most important thing any man who builds a business can do is to put himself out of a job – find or train others who can do it even better than he can. I don’t want Glenn to go away completely but _that_ is what he should be focused on at this stage.

      * Although if someone would write Alex Boye a song called, “It’s about God, Stupid” he could just sing that nonstop all day every day and Glenn could retire completely. I would buy a lifetime membership for that.

Dana Loesch (sp?) did an EXCELLENT job on yesterday’s show, if you didn’t watch it go back and watch it. She needs her own hour, sign her up Glenn if she has the time!

Fact is I feel like I get a week’s worth of news in just one episode of Glenn, although I must admit I miss the two hour show format a bit.

The format I would like to see:
1 hour of Glenn, 1 hour of Real News, 1 hour of History or a rotating Guest Host Show, 1 hour fiction show of some sort (sitcom?), 1.5 hour late show with Brian Sack (ala the tonight show) (If Brian sack isn’t up for it TheBlaze can contact me, I can do this with my eye’s closed and hogtied).

Well, if I had my own network that’s how I would do it; but Glenn’s been doing a great job with this HUGE undertaking! Easier said than done as they say…

Glenn….I was there for the whole weekend courtesy of my daughter that lives in Dallas, and it was a weekend I won’t forget. I went to Free-Pac, Under God, Indivisible, worked at the 2nd street church, and to restoring love…..awesome!!
I just worry that obama is way more cunning then we think. He is agitating people based on groups. Whether that is religion, or ethnic background, or socioeconomic status, he is slowly getting every group angry about something. Why….? I think it has been his whole plan…to get people angry and lash out at someone or something. I firmly believe he will declare some sort of martial law….he will disguise it as some sort of “protection for the people” that are in danger. The only true danger is a second term, and the lame duck session as his first term ends. We will all have LOTS of work after this guy gets the boot. I will die trying to get the country I used to know back once again…it is well worth the sacrifice, for my children and grandchildren etc…. What did that guy say…I regret that I only have but one life to give for my country………..I’m nobody in the real scheme of things but every little bit gets us closer to the end……. FAITH….HOPE…CHARITY…. is all we need! Thank you for all you do!

Are you really that slow? Performing charity at the local level gets people involved in their own communities. If there is abuse of the charity, the people will see it and stop providing it to the abusers. Getting people involved on this scale is helpful as some people really have no idea anymore of how to start. This gets them going.

Federal “charity” has little oversite so it is horribly abused.

If we don’t want our federal dollars used to do this work, you and I need to get involved in our communities to get it done.

When is the last time you got involved personally in local charity work?

Wish to understand the ROOT CAUSE of

all human conflicts? The root cause is

organic–is rooted in the human brain.

Study my two posts at the bottom of this Andrew Gavin Marshall page (( COPY and SAVE them for future reference )): http://andrewgavinmarshall.com/contact/#comment-2690

Also, study Dr. Barbara Oakley’s book about ROOT CAUSES of PSYCHOPATHY in political leaders:

    “Evil Genes__

    Why Rome Fell,

    Hitler Rose,

    Enron Failed,

    and My Sister

    Stole My Mother’s

    Boyfriend”

Coulter’s book, “Demonic,” is now in paperback, which provides psychological roots of Leftism’s evil.

I was so disappointed that they never had a mention of the Restoring Love event. Can you imagine if michelle o had organized anything like one trailer, how the media would be kissing her butt, then again.

Glenn will go down in history as having made a difference for good, unlike chis matthews, who will be remembered for protecting a corrupt administration and getting a thrill up his leg from a man….creepy

I hope he finds more success in the future. We need more contribution to others and unity on free-market principles and individual charity.

For the non religious Libertarians who may not understand. The progressives who use the weak and poor as a tool by hooking them on government and tells them that we don’t care about them. This how we can show them the truth that we will and do help.

We can show them that we are the ones who are really on their side using our own money not government hand outs.

If we have a working relationship with the progressive’s enslaved voting block helping them then they can see how supposedly hateful, racist, bigoted etc we really are.

I think the most telling quote, in context as it is presented in the article is:

“Did you do what you were supposed to do,” Glenn asked the crowd during his speech. “Believe me. When the Lord comes, anyone who is pointing the finger at the other one is in trouble first. United we stand. Divided we fall.”

Mr. Beck is calling for his keys to unite in Defiance of God. He thinks we are absolved of our sins as long as we stand together.
