Anarchist Group Takes Credit for Seattle Chase Bank Attack

SEATTLE – Vandalism at a Capitol Hill neighborhood bank Thursday night is the work of an anarchist group, police say.
Witnesses called police at about 8:40 p.m. to report as many as six people were using hammers to smash the windows of the Chase Bank branch at Broadway and Thomas. The witnesses described the vandals as being dressed in black clothing with hoods and masks.
When police arrived at the scene, they saw eight exterior windows had been smashed. The vandals also left paper fliers at the scene before fleeing.
According to the Puget Sounds Anarchists:
Today at around 9PM we attacked the Chase Bank on Broadway in Capitol Hill. About a dozen windows were broken. It’s important to note that this was done at time when Broadway is very busy with pedestrian and car traffic. One group of onlookers was heard saying “It’s not a big deal, they’re not hurting anyone” as people stood by watching, no one was seen calling the police and no one was chased. Fliers were thrown in front of the bank stating solidarity with the Chilean anarchists on their 60th day of hunger strike* as well as the non-cooperating Green Scare defendants serving time in prisons across the US. A short analysis of why one might attack a bank was inclued as well. No one was arrested.
This action was taken because banks are a clear symbol of the misery and slavery that we experience under capitalism. We chose to use solidarity as a weapon in our struggle against power because our passion for freedom knows no borders or prison walls.

When I turned 18 I had 2 choices, get a job or go to college with scholarships and get a job to pay the rest. I had no car until I could afford to buy one. A true Anarchist believes in no government but believes in the individuals ability to be civil and to work without having to be regulated by a governmental entity. Personal responsibility is the key to make anarchism work. By being violent, it defeats the concept of true anarchism.

Right on Brother! You said it. For some reason that escapes me we have people on our side telling us that we should not fight back. Instead as you say we are to just stand there and take it. There is nothing Biblical about letting evil run free without confrontation. My father always taught me from the time I was old enough to understand…he would say “you better not start a fight, but BY GOD you had better finish it. In fact if I didn‘t stand up for myself he read me the riot act about why I didn’t.

What if after they had prepared the Declaration of Independence and presented it Great Britian and they in turn rejected it, what if they then looked at one another and sad well we tried. Or let’s negotiate our freedom. There would have been no freedom. Instead they said HELL NO…its all or none. They drew a line in the sand and said NO COMPROMISE. Liberty and freedom or else. Oddly enough, I use banks to save money to buy things….you know, like food, and clothing, I also use banks to pay for other things, like the electricity bill, the phone bill, and heating bill. I’ve years of camping experience behind me, and while it is fun, flush toilets are preferable – especially the ones that work.
I wonder how these idiots got the paper to print their fliers, I‘ll bet you they weren’t done on handmade paper with homemade ink. I’m also willing to bet that at some point they used cell phones or landlines to plan this thing. Probably went home afterwards and turned on the TV to watch themselves, which they couldn‘t do if they hadn’t paid the electricity bill and phone bill.
