Anderson Cooper Rips MSNBC’s Ed Schultz: ‘Pretty Thin Skin For Someone Who Goes Around Calling People Sluts’

Indulging in cable news feuds can get childish and trite, but CNN 360 host Anderson Cooper‘s meticulous response to an unprovoked attack from outspoken MSNBC anchor Ed Schultz is enjoyable to anyone a little tired of Schultz’s frequent outbursts, including charging Rep. Paul Ryan with “inciting civil war” and calling radio host Laura Ingraham a “Right-Wing Slut”:
The CNN anchor was responding to Schultz’s attack on Cooper, seemingly out of the blue, earlier this week. Last week Schultz joined the likes of Tila Tequilla, Hank Williams Jr. and Barack Obama on GQ’s list of “The 25 Least Influential People Alive.” Instead of examining the way he conducts himself, Schultz lashed out against those he perceives as “in the GQ crowd,” like Cooper:
“Now, since, I know that Anderson Cooper floats around in that GQ crowd. I don‘t know if he’s behind it or whether their publicist at CNN or, but let me just say, I’m kicking his ass…”
Let’s just go to last week … Let’s go to last Monday night. Last Monday night in the demo, 25-54, my number was 184 (thousand). Anderson Cooper’s numbers was … 136! Now in total numbers, total viewership, my number was 940. Anderson Cooper’s was 429! In the business, that’s called getting your ass kicked! Not that I would do that. I guess Cooper’s just a nice little guy.”
Cooper has nothing to do with producing the editorial content in GQ, and made that clear along with a few jabs at Schultz during the “Ridiculist” segment of his show Friday. “I think cable news feuds are stupid,” said Cooper before taking Schultz to town, chuckling while reading down the list of occasions where the MSNBC host has had to publicly apologize or serve a suspension following ill-advised comments, as well as naming some of the other people that Schultz joins on the GQ list.

We are supposed to believe that suddenly the mainstream media is actually being fair and balanced? They have lost allot of viewers and want them back. Most people I listen to are on an FM radio channels. Now, the reason they get more listeners could be attributed to the fact that they are more interesting and are a bit more honest in their reporting and opinions.
If the right wing radio hosts that you are referring to are still on AM radio then there is a good reason for that. They are either far right or do not have the organizational skill to expand their markets. If the radio hosts has a valid message then people will listen. If not then they will flounder around just as Radio America did and fail.

As Billy knows, I don‘t listen much to AM radio except when I’m driving on business and bored to tears (Billy, another factoid for your dossier). But then, while driving, I get an earful of paranoia and hate from AM radio. The UN is going to take over the world but first they’ll your guns away. Obama is going to take over our country, and then the world. Whatever. Then aliens are going to conquer the world. It’s all the same crazy stuff. And you say now that that the anger, fear and paranoia about a One World Government is also on FM? I don’t know but I have no reason to doubt that.

Now, most assuredly Ed Schultz knows too, and I personally believe Ed Schultz was taking a poke at Cooper and his sexuality by referring to Cooper as “floats around … in that GQ crowd”. Ed Schultz is not only a dyspeptic loudmouthed bully with a massive inferiority complex- we now also know that he is a homophobe too. It’s true, Schultz himself could be a closeted homosexual/bisexual, but I doubt it. Either way, I bet Anderson Cooper would be man enough to meet Schultz for a talk over a latte, or a Schlitz if Schultz preferred, if this were to keep going.
Heck, this just might call for another Beer Summit with Dear Leader if it does keep going.

Understanding what is going on with Cooper, I am sure he was subjected to mistreatment by the Ed Schultz’s of his world during his formative years.
