Andrea Mitchell Fails In Blamestorming Battle With Rumsfeld

With a #1 NY Times Bestseller in hand, former Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld has bounded from talk show to talk show this past week, regaling hosts with some of the stories he shares inside the pages of Known and Unknown:A Memoir.   For the most part, all along his press travels Mr. Rumsfeld has encountered respectful and professional hosts, for example, David Letterman:

Today Mr. Rumsfeld stopped by MSNBC’s studios to be interviewed by Andrea Mitchell.  Ms. Mitchell acknowledges this is an interview about Rumsfeld’s new memoir, but immediately and unsuccessfully launches into an effort to blame the current troubles with Libya and Qaddafi on the former Secretary and his old boss, George W. Bush;

Point Rumsfeld.

However, Ms. Mitchell was not swayed, she was going to entrap Donald Rumsfeld in his own words, especially on the topic of Iraq: (btw – all of these video links have similar thumbnails, but are very different)

Mitchell continues to fire and miss, this time attempting to drag the issue of WMD intelligence and Colin Powell into the fray:

Fail, fail, fail and fail.

And we wrap with Andrea Mitchell alleging there was a Dick Cheney/Donald Rumsfeld “Axis” working against Condi Rice:

Secretary Rumsfeld graciously endures the partisan attacks of Ms. Mitchell using the facts, eye-witness accounts, and supported by memos that he has posted on his website,  a site that might have served as terrific pre-interview prep for the show’s producers.  The time saved avoiding this wild goose chase might have offered more opportunities for the MSNBC audience to learn about the personal experiences of a man who has served his country inside the White House and the Pentagon during great moments in the life of our country.

There can be question but that RUMMY WHIPPED HER HIND END! The only smackdown missing was the Valerie Plame. I guess Mitchell thought she would get smoked like trees in the California summertime if she tried to go there and that all the other gotcha moments would get her a Pulitzer.

Too bad, so sad, Andrea Mitchell looked like a straight up fool at every turn in this interview. Rummy did everything but call her a liar to her face.

Outstanding job, Sir. Don Rumsfeld is a true Patriot and this country owes him a great debt of gratitude.

We’ve all been compartmentalized. Everyone was waking up… but now they’re convinced the problem is a handful of liberals and unions. What a waste.

Anyone who defends Cheney, Rumsfeld, or Bush might as well defend Obama and Soros. Only an idiot couldn’t put 2 and 2 together. Only an idiot would fail to see that everything Obama is using against them now was built by the Bush admin.

They say it to your face, and you’re still too stupid to believe it:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_CWBTL33MpA

If Soros said that, it would be on Beck‘s blackboard and you’d all be citing it daily… but it’s Bush, so you ignore it. When quoting Soros, it doesn’t matter how old the quote… but when it’s Bush, you argue the opposite. Instead of admitting you’ve been duped, you opt for leaving idiotic opinions about Rumsfeld, devoid of relevance. Just because you have the chance to bash a lib. None of these comments have any value. Just personal attacks and opinions. Looks like Huffington around here.

The Tea Party was put back to sleep 2 years ago.

I’m not sure what your point is, (I didn’t watch the video) but Bush was far from perfect and his poll numbers showed that he lost a lot of conservatives along the way. We were pissed about the increase in spending and the growth of the bureaucracy, not to mention the new drug benefit for the elderly. I view Bush as a 50/50 president, half good half bad. He was also too politically correct in his commanding of the war. We are at war with Islam, not necessarily all Muslims. That being said, I would rather have the Bush team in there now, on his best day, Obama isn’t half the man nor half the president Bush was.

Not at all, man. Beck has run a portion of this clip several times on his show. You’re absolutely correct. Both Presidents were Progressives.

Progressive Republicans want the United States to drive the NWO. Progressive Democrats want the United Nations to drive it. I completely agree with you, and I’m not being snarky.

We haven’t had a decent president since Ronald Reagan, and even he made a couple of big mistakes. I don’t think he was a Progressive, though. That’s a HUGE mistake.

President G.W. Bush doubled welfare spending during his terms. He was a horrendous president. I liked his handling of 09/11, but that was it.

I think George Bush and John McCain were cut from the same cloth. Had McCain won the Presidency in 2008, we’d still be a frog in a pot on a low simmer…slowly working our way toward Socialism.

The 1 good thing about President Obama – he’s such a radical lurch towards Socialism, most of the country is opening their collective eyes “Oh crap, we’re in boiling water!”

“How did it come about that American military personnel stripped detainees naked, put them in stress positions, used dogs to scare them, put leashes around their necks to humiliate them, hooded them, deprived them of sleep and blasted music at them?” Levin asked. This was the opening statement at the hearing.
Levin said that Rumsfeld had also unleashed a virus.
“When Secretary Rumsfeld approved the use of abusive techniques against detainees, he unleashed a virus which ultimately infected interrogation operations conducted by the U.S. military in Afghanistan and Iraq,” Levin added.
Republican Senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina also gave his opening statement. He said that the country’s best interests were at the heart were placed first. But, he said that the legal reasoning was strange.
On another interesting note, a former Pentagon official said that Rumsfeld was envious of the other agencies. In short, Rumsfeld wanted to outdo the law enforcement agencies.
With these hearings, one should be prepared for these to make its way to the US Presidential Elections between presumed Democratic nominee Senator Barack Obama of Illinois and presumed GOP nominee Senator John McCain of Arizona.

      It’s war. It’s chaos.Things happen.
Rumsfeld knew nothing about it! When the scandal broke he offered his resignation. It was refused.
Really Tower…., the true villian of the scandal was the New York Times.

The best account of why these pictures were taken, and how they appeared in the dread NYT, is well stated in a book called The Men Who Stare At Goats by one Jon Ronson. I’m sure, MrTower, that you have heard of Mr. Jonson, since he had a chapter in his book Them in which he accompanied your hero Alex Jones on his inept assault of the Bohemian Grove a few years back.
Oddly enough, I first heard of Mr. Jonson on the radio being interviewed by a Mr. Glenn Beck for Mr. Jonson’s book, Them.
Both of these books are highly informative and very funny. I would suggest them to anyone, but would avoid the movie at all costs.

Remember this ————- Rumsfeld sent our finest troops into action WITHOUT protection. They had to rummage thru piles of trash metal pieces to fix their own vehicles to protect themselves from IEDs. He hired ‘no bid contractors’ who managed to poison our troops water, who managed to electrocute soldiers while in the shower and they charged the government for 40 thousand meals served while only about 12 thousand were accounted for. He also allowed twelve ($12Billion) billon dollars – in cash on pallets – to go missing without any investigation. Oh, and let us NOT forget that any female employee had NO recourse if she was raped – because it was her own fault for being there in the first place!
