Andrea Mitchell Reacts to Mitt Romney VP Pick Paul Ryans Speech

NBC White House Correspondent Andrea Mitchell had a “sour” reaction to recently-announced Republican vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan’s speech this morning, in the words of Newsbusters’ Scott Whitlock.

Without pause, she declared the move a sign that Republicans have decided this is a “base” election, and not a pick for “suburban moms” or “women.”

“This is not a pick for suburban moms. This is not a pick for women. This is a pick for the base,” she asserted, as Chris Hayes intoned, “yeah.”

As Andrea Mitchell sees it, Mitt Romney seemingly has to play to various identity groups, and can’t satisfy both “women” and “the base.”

Describing Ryan’s speech, Mitchell related: “He talked about rights coming from God and they don’t come from government…”

Mitchell’s comments did not go unnoticed.  Townhall blogger Carol Liebau concluded that Mitchell might be confusing “pro-abortion“ with ”appealing to women.”

She explained:

…what Ms. Mitchell and others of her ilk don’t understand is that moms are, by necessity, future-oriented and forward-thinking.  We care about whether our children will have to live in a society where unelected bureaucrats ultimately decide what health care they can have…And we REALLY care about whether our children are going, in effect, to have to work most of their lives just to subsidize the outsized, over-intrusive, deficit-crippled government structure President Obama has been trying to lock into place.

Moms are tired of having to be afraid of what the future holds.  We want to be able to embrace the future, confident that we can offer our children the same kind of bright, opportunity-filled tomorrows that our parents offered us.

    In 2008, I stood outside my polling place from sunrise to sunset with a home-made McCain sign, urging people not to vote for Obama. I’ve witnessed the Obama administration do some abominable things, and getting out from under this administration has been my light at the end of this 4 year tunnel.

    But when Thomas Jefferson in the flesh is standing right in front of you, with a deep understanding of economics, foreign affairs and honestly knows how to turn this ship around, you take advantage of this miracle. For God’s sake, the worst thing this sweet man has done is eat too many chocolate chip cookies.

    The GOP has spat in this precious man’s face, and in turn, they have spat in the face of the American people and our entire history. Somehow, this is even more atrocious than everything Obama has done. It’s like if the American Association for Cancer Research discovered the cure for cancer was kale leaf extract, but then proceded to eradicate and outlaw the kale species. The blood is now on their hands. By these actions, the old-guard GOP establishment has superseded Obama as my enemy.

      I thought Romney was completely republican “establishment” (and still do) but something convinced him to make a bold choice that the conservatives would get behind. I think he will mostly govern has a moderate, though, and Ryan will be the counterbalance, at least as a talking point. I hope Ryan is old enough to be taken seriously as a presidential candidate in 8 years.

      Yay, my post got erased. It must of bugged some troll.

      I posted that Mrs. Allan Greenspan should have learned a little economics after being married these many years. She should realize that Paul Ryan is cutting the rate of growth of the budget. He is for the most part not cutting entitlements at all. But to Democrats cutting the rate of growth is anathema. If the Democrats using baseline budgeting projected a10% budget growth when we have 3% inflation. they regard shaving 7 percentage points off that growth rate as a cut & dumping people in the streets. They lie. Andrea Greenspan should know better.

      Last I posted that Democrat legislatures in New York, New Jersey, California & Illinois were securitizing revenues (taxes) in future years in return for money from financial institutions now. IT is easier to do the issuing bonds & the public is not likely to know. The Democrats are mortgaging the future of our children. But Democrats pander something fierce.

      We all are having or will have to keep making the tough choices and sacrifices financialy, emotionly in order to right the country for all of our citizens as well as for ourselves and loved ones. Paul Ryan is not promising all will be easy and bountiful only that we will all have the opportunity to achieve what we desire for ourselves through the process of getting knocked down then pulling ourselves back up to try again. Times are hard but we are not even close to what our grandparents and parents endured in the great depression . This selection has awakened the spirt of self reliance and determination in all of us sending those who seek to control and command into spiral as they see their percieved power evaporating.       What intrigues me is that an urbanite woman with an obvious preference for adhering to left-wing feminist ideals can claim to know how middle-America women and mothers feel about the issues. So, really, even if the one they have chosen fails to win (not enough voting fraud, perhaps?), they have both sides covered. You will have a hard time convincing most people this is true.       Funny but I guess you haven’t bothered to do any research into how Obamacare is requiring doctors to get approval from a board of bureaucrats before providing a variety of lifesaving medical services to patients over 75 did you? I guess you haven’t heard the REAL doctors (not the med school administrators of the AMA) complaining about not being able to provide life saving care because of Obamacare have you? I would say that denying someone over 75 dialysis until the treatment can be approved by a panel of bureaucrats that only meet Monday through Friday amounts to telling the person who’s kidneys failed on the weekend to simply die and get it over with. Of course Obamao did say that they should just tell people to take a pain pill in lieu of giving them life saving surgery. So I would say that your comments are purely political BS.

      America’s grandparents, along with many parents and children are already living in America’s alleys, so to speak. They are living in tents and makeshift campsites in wooded areas and along rivers all over the country. It’s not so easy when the cold weather comes. They are America’s “invisable population” because many people, you apparently, refuse to look.
      Arguments about Rep vs Dem always exhaust me, primarily because half of those doing the aguing don’t even know what your own party supports. You seem very young, or just extremely immature. If you truly believe Romney had more support than Ron Paul, one of the very few honest men in Washington, go to UTube as look at 20 or 30 random videos of both candidates at various rallies and speaking engagements from around the US. There is no question of who filled the largest venues and had the most support. It was not Romney. Everyone seems to forget that Ron Paul was the only one who still had a full time job representing his constituents in Washington; an obligation he prioritized above being on the campaign trail. Our president could learn from his example. Do you think people desperate for jobs really want to hear about your new beach house with the elevator in the garage. Some are living in a garage. This doesn’t get you votes, no matter how much experience you have at creating jobs. When you are so out of touch with the average man, this justs makes their eyes glaze over.

The GOP has alienated part of their base, and chosing Ryan who cuts social programs while keeping the state in tact, increasing the military and continuing to fight wars isn’t really going to cut it with Independents and disenfranchised Democrats.       The GOP has alienated their base? What the heck has Obama done to the working middle class these past three years? The only people he’s supported are those backed by Trumpka. He ignored the people in the tornado devasted area in Joplin, MO and turned his back on the people in fire-ravaged areas in Texas. He has devasted working families in the coal industry, and with his policies have shut down multitudes of plants. He has sucked away all hopes of job creation, but would prefer to hand out food stamps. They conspire to tweek job numbers each month, but it does them no good – unemployment remains high just the same. There’s a bunch of crooks in our current administration and they all need to be tossed. Don’t tell me about alienating. Every time this president opens his mouth, he is alienating somebody. Everytime he or Geithner or any one of them open their mouth…Barney Frank included – the stock market plummets. We need to sanitize and sterilize this November.

His budgets don’t cut crap but future spending levels, and they’ll go out the window once Romney gets us into a war with a 3rd world country that might someday decide to pursue a nuclear weapon. He’s just another lying statist politician. He doesn’t represent freedom or a sound fiscal policy even though he sure talks a good game. We’re still looking at more war, more debt and less freedom. He just isn’t as obvious about it like some. Romney‘s choice didn’t pursuade me in the least. There‘s still no way in hell am I’m going to vote for these clowns until they promise to restore our rights and stop this warmongering and nationbuilding that is bankrupting our country.

      Whew… I didn’t think I was going to make it all day without getting that off my chest.

      Thx cous, but I‘m just a simple man that realizes it’s not right for Big Sis’s bull d*ke brigade to fondle my daughter. People that don’t understand the concept of Natural Law, this is it. When you see a child crying because a stranger is touching them inappropriately and it makes you angry… it’s a violation of natural law. Progressives want to remove this element from our county despite being founding on that very principle.
