‘Anger, Shock & Revulsion’: Jewish Campus Posters Defaced With Swastika & Anti-Semitic Message at Portland State

Portland State Jewish Signs Defaced With Swastika | Erick StakelbeckDecades after the Holocaust unfolded at the hands of Adolf Hitler and his Nazi Party, some still choose to use swastikas and other related symbolism to disparage and intimidate Jews. This is exactly what seems to be unfolding at Portland State University in Portland, Oregon.

GBTV contributor and CBN News host Erick Stakelbeck is slated to speak at the school on Monday, May 14. The journalist and commentator was invited by the university’s Christians United for Israel (CUFI) chapter to discuss the Middle East and the ongoing threats faced by the Israeli state.

In the days leading up to the event, a curious thing happened. When the group put up posters advertising Stakelbeck’s appearance, they were defaced with swastikas and pro-Palestinian messaging.

On his CBN blog, the host shared details about the bizarre actions taken against his speech. The posters, which feature the American and Israeli flags and Stakelbeck’s image, now also have a hand-scrawled slogan that reads, “Never again includes Palestine.”

Portland State Jewish Signs Defaced With Swastika | Erick Stakelbeck

Stakelbeck explains:

Where to begin? First off, a Jewish student was the first to discover the defaced flyers. Imagine the anger, shock and revulsion he must have felt to see the symbol of Nazi Germany–perpetrator of a Holocaust that nearly eliminated his people from the face of the earth–superimposed over the Star of David. What did he and every other Jewish student on the Portland State campus feel when they were greeted by such a menacing image? They have clearly been marked for harassment and intimidation, if not worse. It also sends a chilling message to Christian supporters of Israel, including myself, to watch their backs: “You are not welcome here.”

Second, this kind of vandalism and anti-Semitic rhetoric has become commonplace on college campuses throughout the country, as has open support for jihadist genocide against the Jews. How bad is it? This bad. Comparing Israel to Nazi Germany due to Israel’s supposed oppression of the Palestinians (a “genocide” that is “worse than the Holocaust,” as some pro-Palestinian fanatics have told me in the past) is a favorite tactic of radical Islamists and their allies on the radical left. Notice the slogan scrawled on the poster above: “Never again includes Palestinians.“ The term ”never again” is commonly used by Jews as a reminder that the days of pogroms, genocides and forced expulsions are over–thanks in large part to the existence of Israel–and can never be allowed to return. For pro-Palestinian radicals to co-opt it and suggest that Israelis are the equivalent of the greatest Jew-hating machine of all time is not just insensitive and absurd: it’s pure evil.

Stakelbeck goes on in the piece to warn anti-Semites that “this is not 1944” and that “Bible-believing Christians will not sit idly by in shameful silence and watch as Jews are threatened, once again, with extinction.” He also encouraged readers to get involved in CUFI on Campus’ efforts.

These developments come after an April article in which The Blaze reported that Portland State University is offering a course entitled, “Revolutionary Marxism: Theory and Practice.” The class, as noted in the syllabus, provides “an emphasis on the practical applications of Marxist Theory in local political struggle.”

Considering the existence of the course, Stakelbeck writes, “…it’s not surprising that good little Leftists–who are invariably hostile to Israel — are being produced” at the school.

TRUEAMERICAN40 posted: “These perpetrators suffer from small p$@#s envy. And they have no balls either.”

Hmmm, I wonder why Americans are becoming increasingly anti-semitic. Americans seem to be simply recycling “canards” about Jews that were “debunked” by Jewish experts. According to the ADL, one of these “canards is that American Jews are disloyal to their country. Now, hmmm, is this feeling legitimate or is it just a symptom of what our TRUEAMERICAN40 labels as small penis syndrome?

Well, let’s look at ANTOHER theBLAZE article, shall we?

      http://www.theblaze.com/stories/facebook-co-founder-ditches-u-s-citizenship-tax-burden-right-before-ipo/

And I quote, “Just in time for Facebook’s initial public offering (IPO), which values the company at approximately $96 billion, billionaire co-founder Eduardo Saverin had decided that he doesn’t want to be an American citizen anymore.”

And aside from this Jewish American jumping ship, another prominently Jewish (and presumably a “loyal” American) Reuven S. Avi-Yonah of the University of Michigan’s law school is quoted in that same Blaze article as saying: “Ditching your citizenship right before an IPO is ‘a very smart idea’”

Now why in the world would Americans see Jewish Americans as disloyal to America? You must be right, Mr. TRUEAMERICAN40, it must be that non-Jewish Americans have “no balls” as you said. Or is it that you “true” Americans have no sense?

Marx was Jewish by birth, but was converted by his father (presumably to get ahead) as a child. The only religions he practiced as an adult were Christinaity and (later) atheism. He was the classic self-hater.

Engels was not Jewish at all. The reason his name “sounds Jewish” is that all German names do, because most “Jewish names” are simply German names, my own included. Exceptions are Cohen (Aaronic priest) and Levi (Levite). There was an horrifically anti-semitic Nazi named Rosenberg.

Although I was not born here, i have been near Portland for many years. I’m often reminded by the older locals that the whole of Oregon and even Portland used to be a great place with much more conservative and traditional values: there were jobs and opportunity especially in the logging and fishing industry. In 1905 an “Army of Christians Marches About City,” proclaimed the top of the Oregon Journal newspaper’s front page of Friday, March 31, 1905. “At Midnight Nearly Ten Thousand People, Singing Hymns, Proclaim the Power of Revival.” 240 major stores closed from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day to enable people to attend prayer meetings. The store owners signed an agreement so that no one would cheat and stay open. But then the drug fueled sickness also know now as liberalism grew in California in the 60s and then in the 80s and 90s they came here and spread their filth. Now there’s plenty of trees (extreme forest fires every year) and fish, but few jobs, high unemployment, illegal drugs abound, and gangs from Mexico and El Salvador terrorize the neighborhoods, my alma mater teaching revolutionary marxism, and in addition a tv series that mocks how twisted and messed up the liberals are who live here (see portlandia, it’s very close to reality). All this we have to thank for the liberals like “The Third Archon”

      2) Yeah, we also had a Klan rally here within approximately the same decade as the “Army of Christians” march you mention–just because SOME of us are reasonable, doesn‘t mean everyone ELSE can’t be as insane as they please.

While the Klan was at the height of its membership and political influence, we (the state of Oregon) were considered quite the Klan stronghold. Where do you think most of their membership came from? I’ll give you a HINT: probably NOT the minorities, immigrant, labor unionists, and liberals living predominantly in the cities.

Oppression starts from within. As far as Israel if Mexico was sending Katusha rockets into San Diego, California and or Texas do you not think we would step up and blow the H_ll out of them? Then we have the PLO, incase you don’t know their tied into terrorist groups. Then Israel asks them to stop bombing and blowing up Israeli people. Yet do they stop? The PA have had chances to make a Govt. but in case you haven‘t noticed the Infighting between factions doesn’t let them. Then you have the Israel asking them to stop sending rockets and to stop sending arms into Gaza. Why would Israel do this? Because they’re protecting their people. Unlike muslims blowing up their own people because of factions. So Israel is trying to protect themselves and the PA has had chances to build a Govt. but their to Greedy! Wanting to take more and more land from Israel. And it comes down to this, why is it Israel has offered to help them instate a Govt.? They have had the same chance since 1948 to do this, yet they don’t why? Its because of the infighting and if you look at other muslim countries they’re all the same. Take the Christians and Jews out and all hell breaks loose between muslim factions! Lebanon was as beautiful country look what happened! Syria, Damascus, Nigeria, Sudan, Iraq. Isn’t it funny the Arabs living in Jerusalem have no issues and they free! Why does Israel allow muslims in their Govt? So its not Israel! Its the PA wanting all the land of Isr

Why are you singling out the Jewish voters? I’m a Jew and I, as well as many in my immediate family, saw through Obama back during the 2008 primary. In fact, upon realizing McCain would get the nomination one way or another, I actually registered as Democrat just so I could vote against Obama in the primary. It continuously frustrates me how whenever Christians are polled they are always categorized as Catholic, Orthodox, evangelical, etc. yet Jews are always treated as a homogeneous group when the truth is many if not most American Jews only go to a religious service once a year if they even go at all. After the secular Jews, another large number of Jews belong to the Reform Movement, whose position on Jewish Law amounts to “follow whatever laws you personally find meaningful”. To put this in perspective, the Reform movement once considered making Sunday the Jewish Sabbath.

I‘m sure that if you treated all Christian denominations as a single group you’d find that the majority of Christians voted for Obama as well.

I agree that true libertarian philosophy isn’t collectivist. That’s why I hold that collectivist supporters of RP are right-wing the way fascism is right-wing. Both are considered right in Europe but are still far left here. However, these fascists pass themselves off as “conservatives” because they, like the communists, believe the ends justify the means and therefore support RP because they think he will help them destroy the communists that stand in their way. Neo-Nazis, KKK, White Supremacists, David Duke supporters, their all flocking to RP not because they agree with him but because he brings them closer to accomplishing their goals.

What do you expect from a town where the Mayor endorses a bunch of lazy druggies to occupy a public space for weeks, members of the city council, now running for the Mayor position openly state their solidarity with the occutards and profess to have taken classes in how to participate in civil disobedience and where a sitting member of Congress for 14 years was a known sexual harasser and got away with drunken driving for years being covered up by his “friends” one of which is now sitting in the congressman’s seat? Portland State was liberal when I attended in the 1980′s but now it is completely gone over to a indoctrination institution instead of a learning institution. Freedom of speech in P Town only is acceptable if you are a liberal progressive nut, otherwise they want to shut you up.

Leftwing progressive Socialist Nazis at it again. And that’s exactly what they are. Why do the Jewish vote for these people? Hopefully they are done with them after the anti-Jew obama administration and their Love of all enemies of America and Israel. They must wake up NOW or they will surely perish.

I actually received my undergraduate degree in History from PSU in 1990. I had a wonderful eduation there. My teachers were some of the best I have had in my univeristy experience. This sort of thing did not happen then. Can someone please tell me what has happened to PSU in the last 2 decades that anti-Jewish/Israel garbage is now tolerated and even encouraged at PSU? This really makes me angry!

You have not been back in 20 years?

I was in Porkland from 2000 – 2005 for graduate school. The place is a haven for radicals. The PRIDE themselves on their radicalism. Just visit Portland Square, the armpit, any day and see the dopes around.

Everything from bicyclists protesting that they must share the roads with vehicles and lock up the entire downtown core at rush hour, to the anti-war rallies that had people leave to go beat up people at a Support Our Troops rally, to the Portland 7 (October Lewis and Jeffrey Battle). Then you have your enviro radicals, your animal rights extremists, etc.

Porkland is San Fran light. It is the worst of the hippy culture magnified a thousand fold.

Because the lefts penchant to want to champion what they see as the underdog is being used by Islamist. It does boggle the mind the number of issues that the Left needs to turn a blind eye toward, such as Islam’s thoughts toward Gays and Women in order to continue this relationship. It really defies rational explanation but then I never use Rational and Left in the same sentence.

I don’t understand why someone does not have a hidden camera that can catch these thugs in the process of vandalizing these posters when everyone knows this will happen. Catch a few of these cowards in the act and see if the school will hold them accountable.
I would not be surprised if it is the dean or a professor doing this!

Good idea, however, these “brave, young Americans” are so proud of their actions that they probably have their heads covered with keffiyahs or dressed all in black? If they are so proud and confident in their righteous actions, why do they feel the need to disguise who they really are?

With enemies such as the Nazi’s and the inhuman tactics that were used to injure and kill human kind, why would anyone in their right mind want to bring back the horrors that many went through?

It was pure evil and good defeats evil. God help the true in heart and if you don’t care you better get down on your knees and pray that you are not treated with the brutality that many endured.

You are assuming that the kids have been taught about the horrors of Nazi Germany. I doubt many have a true understanding of what really happened and the magnitude. I know how my eyes were opened when I visited Daku, Germany and saw the concentration camp right outside the town limits. These camps were not hidden and those in town had to know about it. Being of full German heritage, it’s something that I will never allow to happen again.

You are right, DM. I remember when history in school meant true history. This is the reason that unions in schools with no firing of the worst teachers is so sad. I suppose if they aren’t stopped Obama will go down as the greatest president of all time.

Excuse me, I have to leave and go throw up. God Bless.

When I was in Poland I visited both Auschwitz and Majdanik. The former was highly secluded and much of it had been demolished by the retreating Nazis but significant portions remained. Majdanik, however, was not only in clear view of the town, but was so close to it that ash from the ovens’ chimneys rained down on the nearby residents. If you want to understand the Holocaust I would place Majdanik just below Auschwitz in importance. The ground there is still black from the ash of all the bodies they burned. Most of the camp is still intact to the point where the camp is known for being possible to get up and running again in a day. But the most horrific thing I saw there, more terrible and monstrous than anything else I have witnessed, was the inside of the crematorium. One of the camp’s higher-ups felt that the heat from all the burning bodies was being wasted. His solution: he had a bath tub placed inside the crematorium and used the ovens there to heat his bath water.

I get the feeling more and more, that God is working to bring the Jewish people back to Israel. I think that as one country after another stops being friends with Israel, and becomes neutral or outright enemies. Israel will end up with just one friend. God.

Perhaps it is then that God will show the world that he is quite capable of defending the children of Abraham, just as he promised.

We are living in interesting times.

The “ Holocaust that nearly eliminated his people from the face of the earth”. Alright, I know I’ll get bashed for this, but so be it. Worldwide Jewish population actually increased by 4% from 1928 to 1948. I’m not denying the holocaust, just pointing out the innacuracy of that statement in this story.

That may be true but the misleading part of that is that the Holocaust didn’t spread worldwide. If you were to instead focus on the countries directly impacted by the Holocaust, the figures would show that approximately 67% of the prewar Jewish population was wiped out. Notably, an estimated 90% of Polish Jews perished in the Holocaust, accounting for 3 million of the 6 million total. The holocaust may not have come close to exterminating Jews globally but within the boundaries of the Holocaust it would have taken less than 10 additional years to complete the Nazi’s “Final Solution”.
