Angle Releases Reid Viagra Ad Amid Sharia Controversy

In the last few weeks, Sharron Angle has come under fire for comments about Muslims and Sharia law in America. She‘s also seen one of Nevada’s top GOP members endorse her opponent, incumbent Democrat Harry Reid, in the Nevada Senate race. But she’s not letting that derail her campaign, and instead of playing defense, she’s going on the offensive with a new ad — one accusing Reid of providing Viagra to sexual predators.

Last week, Angle told a crowd of supporters in Mesquite, NV that the country needs to address a “militant terrorist situation” that has allowed Islamic religious law to take hold in some American cities.

In response to a question asking whether or not Muslims are taking over America, Angle responded that “we’re talking about a militant terrorist situation, which I believe … isn’t a widespread thing, but it is enough that we need to address, and we have been addressing it.” She continued: “My thoughts are these, first of all, Dearborn, Michigan, and Frankford, Texas are on American soil, and under constitutional law. Not Sharia law. And I don’t know how that happened in the United States.”

“It seems to me there is something fundamentally wrong with allowing a foreign system of law to even take hold in any municipality or government situation in our United States,” she said.

Ibrahim Hooper, a spokesman for the Council on American-Islamic Relations, a Washington-based advocacy group, called Angle’s statements “bizarre,” and said that it’s “pretty clear that she has something against Islam and Muslims but she is so incoherent you don’t know what she stands for.”

Dearborn Mayor Jack O‘Reilly called Angle’s comments “shameful.” He said tea party groups inaccurately spread the word that his Detroit suburb was ruled by Islamic law after members of an anti-Islam group were arrested at an Arab cultural festival in June because a Christian volunteer complained of harassment.

“I’m pretty sure that she did make it clear that there had been incidents in the news, but there is nothing widespread, and that we have freedom of religion in this country,” said spokesman Jarrod Agen in an e-mail.

Angle’s opponent, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, used her comments to paint Angle as an extremist and out of touch with mainstream America.

“The fact that Sharron Angle believes American cities have been taken over by militant terrorist organizations that are ruling our citizens under Sharia law shows a terrifying lack of connection with reality and a willingness to subscribe to conspiracy theories that demonstrates she’s far too extreme and dangerous to represent Nevada in the U.S. Senate,” spokeswoman Kelly Steele said.

But that sentiment isn’t limited to Democrats. Yesterday, veteran state Sen. Bill Raggio, one of Nevada’s most influential Republicans over the last four decades, said he’s reluctantly endorsing Democratic U.S. Sen. Harry Reid’s re-election campaign.

Raggio issued a statement Thursday sharply criticizing Angle, branding her as a “totally ineffective” four-term state lawmaker. He also cited what he says is Angle’s inability and unwillingness to work with others even within her own party, and her extreme positions on Social Security and other issues.

Raggio defeated Angle two years ago in a bitter GOP primary.

That news also follows a raucous debate with Reid two weeks ago, at which crowd unrest degenerated into fist fighting.

But all the controversy has not put Angle on the defensive. Instead, she has continued to attack Reid. On Thursday, she released an attack ad accusing Harry Reid of funding Viagra for sexual predators:

The vote Angle cited was an amendment offered to the major health care bill by Sen. Tom Coburn (R-Okla.) in hopes of killing it. While the amendment sought to prevent the sale of Viagra to sexual predators using health care funds, there was no portion of the bill authorizing funds to provide the drug to sex offenders to begin with.

Democrats voted to table the amendment in order to continue consideration of the full measure.

Reid’s camp responded to the ad. His spokeswoman, Kelly Steele, said the ad is an example of Angle’s “‘pathological’ pattern of lying to the voters of Nevada in pursuit of her extreme and dangerous political agenda.”

“This ad is entirely bereft of facts, as documented by numerous independent fact-checkers and media outlets,” Steele added.

Rasmussen currently has Angle leading Reid by four points, while Real Clear Politics has Angle leading Reid by an average of 0.3 percentage points.

    This is what happens when our members of Congress do not read the bill. This piece of garbage was attached to the health care disastor. No wonder Harry is confused! Be aware that the Muslim population is steadily growing in our country. Otherwise why would 1,000 mosques be needed?

      You have Muslim leaders describing “moderate” muslims as non-muslims….meaning, muslim, the quoran, sharia law are one in the same IF YOU ARE A MUSLIM…. Well, which is it ? Because fundamental muslim / Quoran law is not something I am willing to accept here….period…. Oh, and by the way, you would think that EVERY WOMAN in this country would be even more adamantly opposed to the proliferation of muslim / quoran teachins / law in THIS COUNTRY !!! You better figure it out America !

      No. This is what happens when YOU fail to read. The Politico statement makes perfectly clear that the amendment was not needed to prevent Viagra supplies to sex offenders, so tabling the amendment wasn’t necessary, so the claim that Reid voted for tabling to get Viagra to such offenders is FALSE. Again, I know that conservatives have lots of problems with logic, facts, reality… But, come on. Even Beck‘s crew is admitting implicitly that Angle’s ad is a lie. Are you that dumb or that partisan? Are facts really that optional in the mind of a conservative? You embarrass yourself and the entire conservative movement.

      ABC blathers: “Her ad claims that Reid wants to give Viagra to sexual predators, although there is absolutely not truth to the allegation.”

      In the absence of an explicit prohibition, there is nothing stopping sexual predators from obtaining subsidized Viagra under Obamacare. Reid declined to provide for an explicit prohibition.

      Obama feels we should be more like Europe. Europe is now going through a cultural crisis. Muslim immigrants are refusing to assimilate to their host country. Europe’s Muslim population has more than doubled in the past 30 years and will have doubled again by 2015. In Brussels, the top seven baby boys’ names recently were Mohamed, Adam, Rayan, Ayoub, Mehdi, Amine and Hamza.

      Europe is leaning towards the Right. There’s a reason. It not because of racism. It’s because they losing their identity.

    The more I learn about liberals, the less I can stand them !!!! Does anyone realize HOW LONG they have been spreading this sick twisted mentality among unsuspecting americans and their children ? If you are an adult, 50 years or older, and a liberal, then there is no hope for you, you must be beyond hope. If you are a younger person, I can give you at least a partial pass if you are a liberal, because there is still hope for you in that you can start to research the facts about the history of this nation and then maybe, turn yourself into a conservative minded “true” american…. As far as our youth is concerned, say 20 something’s and younger…well, we have a lot of work to do to get them on board……we can start by attacking the public school systems and the text books and curriculums they endorse and convey unto our youth….I mean it….I’m PISSED !!!!!

    I have yet to hear a mainstream liberal or “femi-nazi” come out and denounce SHARIA LAW. There is no place and will never ever be a welcome place for Sharia Law in this country…. Anybody that how’s a problem with that….bring it on….. I am so sick of this crap it makes me nauseated…. Any muslim that feels that their flag will fly over the WH is a traitor and should be deported…..period !!

    Advice to Sharron Angle: FULL SPEED AHEAD! There are many people in this country who have not, will not and have no desire to assimilate into American Society. Some have become citizens yet still reject our national values. Although not alone, Islamic radicals living among us are part of this group. They are dangerous to America, our values and Constitution because they seek TOTAL DOMINATION and SUBSERVIENCE to their laws. The difference between Angle and Reid is simple: Harry is a spineless wimp who won’t stand up to the threat and Ms. Angle gladly takes it on!

It is quite suitable that he is gesturing to the American People as he helps get all the pieces in place to turn this country over to the communists/socialists/and radicals of the rest of the world.

    Poltico is just a Democrat website, using their distilling of information is like getting the DNC’s daily talking points.
    The major healthcare bill cited did ALLOW FOR VIAGRA , and did not EXCLUDE sex offenders or child molesters. …that means the they COULD AND WOULD get Viagra.
    The Ammendment offered was to exclude them, Reid voted against it.

      I agree with you both.

      I also join my voice to encourage all Mormons (like myself) to not only vote to oust Reid, but to become anxiously engaged in working against him. He is a wolf in sheep’s clothing. His actions are contrary to virtually all fundamental doctrines and policies of the faith.

      Ezra Taft Benson once said in one of his talks that there would come a day when the Constitution would be under attack (hanging as it were by a thread), and some members of the faith would seek to rally the good people of America to defend it (like Beck), while others in the faith would be fighting with the enemy. I have that talk in my possession. Reid is in this second group — those fighting with the enemy, empowering the forces of tyranny and undermining our Constitution!

      I too am amazed that Reid hasn’t either been cast out by the Church or left it of his own volition. He is one of the tares growing amongst the wheat. He has repeatedly spoken out against fundamental beliefs of the faith, including his supporting of gay marriage and abortion legislation. He also uses the same tactics that Satan did in the pre-earth world that seeks to provide for the welfare of all — by coercion.

      Of this I have no doubt: when Reid stands before the judgment bar of God at the last day to receive final justice, it will be a VERY tough interview for him. The lightning will shake half the solar system at that time! I don’t want to be anywhere in the galaxy when that day arrives! I’m afraid I might get taken out with him. :)

      I expect almost all Mormons to vote for Sharron Angle, despite Pastor Reed’s vitriol. Sharron believes in INDIVIDUAL salvation and charity. Harry has been co-opted by Obama, Pelosi, Jeremiah Wright, Bill Ayers, George Soros, and Saul Alinsky’s Marxism/Socialism. He should know better, and would have if he had paid attention to the Free Agency discussions in his Gospel Doctrine and Priesthood classes.

      What about Bill Raggio? He endorsed him. A Republican who can stand up (reluctantly, riiight) for a man like Harry Reid? He needs to be gone. Is there anything YOU can think of to endorse about Harry Reid? Me neither. Apparently, Bill Raggio feels differently. Can we say Progressive Republican?
