Angry Boehner to Senate and Administration: ‘Put Something on the Table’

Angry Boehner to Senate and Administration: Put Something on the TableSpeaking on the House floor just moments after House Republicans passed a newly revised debt bill, House Speaker John Boehner scolded the Senate and the Obama administration for criticizing his House bill after allegedly showing their ineptitude in being able to put their own bill on the table.

The Speaker brazenly demanded, “it is time for the administration and time for our colleagues across aisle – put something on the table – tell us where you are!”

The Speaker said that he has now presented not one but two different bills to cut spending by trillions of dollars over the next decade with a view toward raising the debt ceiling.

The Speaker admitted that while not perfect, his bill does not contain any tax revenues and “reflects an honest and sincere effort to end this crisis by sending a bill over to the Senate that at one time was agreed to by the bipartisan leadership of the United States Senate.”

Boehner was applauded after noting that he has worked tirelessly from beginning of his session to avoid a situation such as this and that he told Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner that Republicans would not raise the debt ceiling without serious changes to the way the government spends taxpayers’ money.

Watch the House Speaker tell the Senate and Obama administration to “put something on the table”:

I have to agree with you there; the old guard of DC political influence — the progressive republicans are betraying us and will probably sell us out down the river given a chance.

Yet there is one good part, it does appear the newer tea party backed membership, who does care what is happenening to the nation are holding strong and solid; the gauntlet has been thrown down now by the House, better late than never though.

They should have declared that challenge after Reid killed cut, cap, and balance.

Chess game has started. Boener knows his bill won’t pass, but he has shown that the Repub’s have tried to compromise. Once the POTUS/Senate reject it, the Aug. 2nd date passes, the House should reintroduce Cut, Cap, and Balance. The POTUS would have to accept that, or this current bill, provided Boener holds firm. It’s not a perfect bill, but it does have the BBA and gives us time to do some real things in 2012.
I wouldn’t lose faith in the Speaker or his party quite yet…

LOL, every stinking proposal out there, sans one that I can see, the Penny Plan, ADDS to the deficit people!!! Look at some math:

$4 TRILLION in cuts (over 10 years) = $400 BILLION per year!

      Sounds good, until you consider:

We spend $1.65 TRILLION more than we take in, so subtract $400 B from $1.6 T and you STILL have a $1.2 T deficit over 10 years…this type of gimmick is BS!!!!

We need to cut $10 T over 10 years, hard to do, but if you consider default and bankruptsy, it is the responsible thing to do. Flat tax would make it fair, and eliminate the IRS at the same time, saving BIG money!!!!! These dolts in DC have to have the neckbolts tightened, they are losing fluids!!!!

I think he’s honestly trying, but Democrats still have the Senate and Obama, so nothing that’s actually good can pass. Senate Democrats and Obama won’t pass any real spending cuts, so everything good gets watered down.

We saw that Michigan is calling for druggies to vote in the next election. Call upon the ignorant, selfish and brain damaged to get more Democrats to vote. It won’t make a difference though, Michigan always votes Democrat anyways… they voted for Gore… dopes. My state voted for Obama, but just barely. I’m guessing only Boulder, Denver, and Greeley will vote for him this year. I know my district changed to side with the Tea Party Libertarians last year. It was a HUGE change too! From mostly blue to overwhelmingly red.

Neither the flat tax nor the fairtax eliminates the IRS.
No matter what tax plan we have the govt still requires an agency to collect, count and report the revenue and enforce the tax law up to the point of collection.
The flat tax does not pretend to disband the IRS. It only seeks to lower the tax rate so that no one is given the incentive to avoid paying it. On top of that, the flat tax simplifies the tax code to only a few pages and the tax form to that of a post-card.
The fairtax on the other hand abolishes the IRS in one sentence then reconstructs it with new powers in the next sentence. The difference between the two agencies is the initials. IMHO this is a fraud upon the public by it’s proponents as the main push of the fairtax is the elimination of the IRS but they fail to mention the new improved tax collectors. If memory serves me, the customer is responsible for the payment of the tax (stores collect it from you as a benefit but they are not required to do it). The tax collector has the authority to see if the taxes have been paid for the items in your home. While a warrant may still be necessary, probable cause to secure that warrant is automatic. A rubber stamp judge gives them all they need to search your home.
The fairtax has one more drawback, the switch over to it. Every store that volunteers to collect the tax has to reprogram it’s register mainframe to add-in the tax. So on and so forth. This costs capital..

Wrong this time JACQUE CUSTARD and SNOWLEOPARD. Not convinced that John Boehner is a sell out, nor necessarily that he is form the Old Guard. This is a strategy move to put the monkey on both the Senate and the President’s back, where it belongs. Worse case scenario, the Senate passes it, which I doubt they will, and the President signs it, which is also doubtful. Either case this has short term consequences and puts the debt ceiling before the President early next year. What a lovely Christmas present, as the President has trouble chewing gum and walking at the same time. No disrespect Mr. President, but the only mode you know how to operate in is “campaign mode”. If the President knew otherwise, we would not be in the debt limit fix that we are in, at least not to the degree that we are. Suck air Me. President. You reap what you sew. In the mean time we need to be cautious, walk softly and carry a big club. We are in a war. Wars are not one by the timid, but the strong and the courageous. Hang in there. This may come out much better than originally meets the eye.

Only when the Party of the Communist Revolution faces concerted opposition will they decide it is time to listen to the People. They have been inviting a dance –let the dance begin. RE: THEORICALOFTRUTH. You are right. there is some smoke and mirrors going on her. the problem, that no one seems to talk about is the “base line” budgeting methodology. Every eary they allow the baseline to increase by approximately 7.5 percent so what is the gbae this year is 7.5 percenthigher next year and so on. If you reduce the budget by evan as much as 5 percent you are still 2,5 percent behind the poewr cureve and the deficet continues to grow. We need to stop base line accounting and require to vote on the new baseline every year with a cap of no more than 2 percent or inflation, whichever is lower. We also need a balanced budget ammendment because that is the only way we can hold congress’ feet to the fire on conrolling spending. Thecongress today canmake all the porposed cuts it wants in the future–it is what they always do. But, this congress cannot tell future congresses what they can or cannot do, so its a mute pointe. In fact it is how they tryto make themselves look like they are fiscal hawks when in fact they are kicking the can down the road. A BBA would force them to balance the budget annually.

“It is and has been clear where the responsibility for this debacle lies – with the Senate Liberals and the President.”

      I must respectfully disagree.

It is We, the People, who are ultimately at fault. We’ve allowed ourselves to become complacent, distracted, and apathetic. We’ve stood by relatively silently for decades, while those who wish to destroy the country in the name of some fictional Socialist-lite utopia have been busy organizing and steadily working towards their goals.

For decades, even when confronted with the facts, we as a people have waved our hands and dismissed what has been happening as the paranoid ravings of fringe extremists because it made us uncomfortable, and would have required us to actually take the time & trouble to educate ourselves and do the things necessary to halt the decay in our society and our government.

Just look around. Even now, most people are far more involved in, and care far more about, whether or not the NFL football season will start on time, than if the country experiences an economic collapse.

Blaming politicians for being politicians is like blaming a scorpion for being a scorpion, as in the old fable about the scorpion and the frog crossing the river. It’s up to us to care enough to learn & know not to trust scorpions, especially the ones in government.

They haven’t gone far enough with the cuts whole departments have to be eliminated,HUD IRS Dept.of no education,Dept.of no energy, and many others, also end the fed and get back to a constitutional government.Of course that will never happen with the current Anti U.S regime in power,no we’ll have to wait for the next election to get rid of Barry & his band of communists, marxists and progressives, and get majority in both houses.

Since I am a libertarian, I say scrap it all and only pay for an interstate system of highways and the military. End of story. Let the individual states decide what to do with the rest. Then if your state sucks, you can move to another one. As it is the US is sucking because of the commies and I can’t move.

One trillion dollars; three hundred million people; that is three thousand dollars for every human in this country per trillion. The CURRENT debt is twelve trillion —- that is thirty six thousand dollars per human, in debt incurred by the FED. This is above and beyond operating expenses. I cannot afford this, can you?

At least a bill proposal was offered. Where is president Obama’s proposal with itemized offering so we can see what he has? Or is his a “we will have to pass the bill to see what is in it” kind of response.

Since you do not have anything to offer, please get out of the way and let those who have concrete ideas handle the problem (of president Obama, rep. Pelosi, senator Reid force it down your throat spending).

    Ok, try this!

    Federal Reserve:
Usury private banking cartel manipulating our money, no longer backed by gold, loans our money to U.S. with interest.

    16th amendment (not ratified):
Income tax, voluntary via Social Security Ponzi scheme.

    17th amendment:
Required election of formerly incorruptible Senators by popular vote, removing your ability to elect locally trusted leaders to your State Assembly who similarly selected two trustworthy Senators. The Founding Fathers wisely precluded Senators from campaigning, knowing if one couldn’t buy Senate influence, it’s useless to bribe House members or a President. Exposing entire law making process to equal financial pressure invited wholesale corruption.

    Solution?

Abolish Fed Res, dissolve debt & end gov usury borrowing.

States must repeal 16th & 17th amendments to abolish IRS and end political influence peddling.

States must collect all taxes as their citizens deem best, while providing proportionally shared funding sufficient for federal functions enumerated by the Constitution.

States must specify by amendment, that any agreements or cooperative functions not enumerated in the Constitution but voluntarily entered into by any states, may be enacted, administered, financed and enforced only within and by those participating states and shall remain beyond the purview of the federal government.

I’VE GOT IT!!!! All the democrats, RINO’S and anyone else that is not 100% for building our nation back up, getting our nation out of debt, eliminating this PC garbage, restoring our freedoms and restorying our Godly Constitution back to the way that our Founding Fathers meant for it to be can put their resignations on the table and leave Congress and the White House no later than midnight July the 31st, along with the guarantee that they will NEVER show their faces back in politics unless they are able to PROVE that he will legislate for these things and these things only! By them doing that, we would be able to put in people that will legislate of the people, by the people and for the people. This would allow us to drop our national debt to well under a trillion dollars, greatly decrease our tax burdens and increasing our freedom back to the days when the people of this nation stood for defending it “even unto death” by the end of next year. Plus all these lie-beral weird wacko commies (in government and out) would get frightened and/or fed up and move out the country. There, no one can say that the “PERFECT PLAN” HAS never been proposed. We would once more be the “Greatest Country in the World (except maybe next to Israel since no matter what any other nation does, God will be on their side.

His plan is far from what I would want, but a balanced budget amendment is what this country needs. That is, if we want it to survive.
