Angry Bride Solves Mystery of Stolen Wedding Dress & More

Angry Bride Solves Mystery of Stolen Wedding Dress & MoreCHIPPEWA FALLS, Wis. (AP) — Wisconsin police say a 25-year-old woman’s search for her stolen wedding dress helped solve several other burglaries as well.

After a storage unit owner called Alena Gadke of Chippewa Falls on Oct. 8 to tell her of some break-ins, Gadke went there and noticed her wedding dress was gone.

Police assured her they would find the thieves, but Gadke was impatient. That night she went to Craigslist and found her dress.

She says she traded 40 texts and voice messages with the seller, who kept changing the time and location to meet.

Gadke alerted police and the next day she met the seller in a Chippewa Falls parking lot, where police arrested the 16-year-old girl. That led police to a 17-year-old boy and a 23-year-old man, who confessed to multiple thefts.

Wow, a wedding dress! How lucky she is!

I was wearing sweat drenched dirty overhauls (overalls) and barefoot on my wedding day. My very soon-to-be husband and I are out working a corn field on a blistering hot summer day in rural Oklahoma when we became married. A Choctaw elder comes walking by carrying a slop bucket headed to slop our hogs, he looks at us, “auaya ohoyo ipetachi” — you are married, celebrate your marriage.

My boys leans on his shovel, pulls off his cowboy hat, wipes sweat off his brow, “Well, looks we are married.” I concur, “I reckon so.” Those words were our vows. We have been married 30 years, so far.

Cannot remember what happened to my overhauls wedding dress, probably tossed after several generations of being hand-me-downs.

FYI the woman’s dress was in storage. The news segment said she had been married for 2 years already. So, she didn‘t get it ’just in time’ for her wedding. *sigh*

However, it was great that she was able to assist in finding out who these criminals are and the recovery of other peoples property.

And I bet the first thing that the cops did after taking the perps into custody was to lecture the bride on how dangerous it was for her to do that. Just like they always tell people not to fight back when being robbed. They just want you to hand over your stuff and be happy that the criminals don’t hurt you. As a matter of fact, in some states there used to be a requirement that you retreat from criminals if there was a means of doing so. That’s being changed, thankfully, by states (like Florida) adopting the “castle doctrine” which says that a homeowner is under no obligation to retreat, and can use any force necessary, including lethal, to protect his life and property.

This gal did the right thing by taking matters into her own hands. The police consider these low level crimes and unless a thief comes up and bites them on the butt, they do little creative detective work. Also, prosecutors plea out these “minor” crimes because they feel a trial is not cost effective. Although, I bet that these perpetrators will get their 15 minutes of fame because of the national exposure.

The thing that makes me so nervous is that the police are the ones with the guns! While I am certain that there was no attempt whatsoever made by the police to locate the gown, the fact that she caught the crooks herself is commendable. This young lady calmly sat down and found her wedding gown with her only weapons being a computer and a phone. The police always give the excuse that they are busy looking for “real criminals,” but isn’t a thief a real criminal? This kid makes the police look like the keystone cops by comparison and the demolibersocialcommies want US to disarm?

I dont blame her for wanting to catch these crooks; taking a brides wedding dress of all things!

Thankfully she was able to lead the police to the crooks – old fashion American persistence and foot work pays off.

Also a moment to consider the intelligence of the crooks – selling the stuff on craigs list and not expecting to get caught is one for the books – comic books and ones of dumb crooks.

Great success and cheers to the lady who catches dumb crooks!!!
