Angry Protesters’ Outbursts Force Wis. Politicians To Shut Down Town Hall Mtg.

Angry budget protesters became so rowdy last night at a local Wisconsin town hall meeting that the meeting’s leader was forced to shut it down. That created even more anger, as protesters showered the local politicians in attendance with boos and chants of “Shame! Shame! Shame!”

One man become so unhinged he stood up and began shouting and pointing fingers, accusing the meeting’s head of trying to stifle debate. He ended his rant by screaming, “Power to the people!”

Local news station WTMJ reports on what happened:

Budget protesters shut down a town hall meeting in Wauwatosa.

“Shame, shame, shame” were among the words that came out of protesters mouths as the meeting ended, according to a video taken at the meeting that was placed on YouTube.

Menomonee Falls Republican Congressman Jim Sensenbrenner and Wauwatosa Republican State Senator Leah Vukmir were hosting the events at the Wauwatosa Library.

Sensenbrenner’s office provided WTMJ with a statement saying the rowdy protesters were asked repeatedly to respect other meeting attendees as well as library patrons. They refused:

“Congressman Sensenbrenner and the Wauwatosa library director repeatedly asked individuals attending last night’s Town Hall Meeting to be respectful as other patrons were using the library. After numerous requests for attendees to listen to the individual speaking and be mindful of other library patrons were ignored, the meeting was adjourned.

“It is unfortunate that the same respect given at Congressman Sensenbrenner‘s Town Hall Meeting in Brookfield Sunday evening wasn’t experienced last night, and individuals who were patiently waiting to ask a question, receive help with casework or share their concern were unable to do so at the meeting.

“Congressman Sensenbrenner invites those individuals to call his office or send him and email and he will get a response to them. “

I’m one of the people, and speaking for myself he can kiss my butt. Our nation was built on vigorous debate, not gangsterism, one sided yelling, and abdication of responsibility.

Given the mood of the country, he probably doesn’t actually realize what the outcome of empowering the people is going to be. I don‘t think he’s going to like it, so like all the deluded fools like him do, he will deny the evidence of his eyes, in favor of the arrogant conceit that he can speak with authority for the rest of us.

He can’t, he doesn’t, and the fact that he is trying show plainly the red shade of his manifest autocratic tendencies.

I would never call teachers, police and firemen ‘blue collar’ workers. The real blue collar workers who unions were set up for are the factory workers, miners, etc. i.e private unions. Public unions need to go. I have to laugh at those who are saying that this is union busting. Many other states do not allow collective bargaining (the federal government doesn’t allow it either) and guess what – they still have unions as will public workers in Wisconsin. I think what is feared is that union workers will not WANT to pay the union dues. Earlier it was stated that ‘Walker blinked’. You all were protesting saying that Walker wouldn’t give an inch – he has been talking all along and now you liberals are bashing him for what you asked for! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
      Absolutely!

The rub is that if the unions have no bargaining power, what’s the point in paying union dues? Therein lies the need for the SEIU to be brought in from out of state.

The unions have to have a reason for existing. Take the power from the unions, and the cash cow dries up. They can’t let that happen! The unions don‘t give a rat’s rosterium about the members, only their dues.

Actually, the collective bargaining portion becomes the MOST lucrative portion of all. The way the work rules are these people are able to layer overtime on top of a sick day, their pensions are based on the last 3 years of employment. So they get themselves promoted in stature and pay and then start stacking the union dictated overtime and sick pay and these folks retire to other states with ENORMOUS pensions….then there are the emeritus teacher gigs, the pension double dipping, etc. etc. Every sentence that is collectively bargained for here in Wisconsin is glorified legalized theft fully supported by many of the administrators responsible for oversight. If it ain’t about the money……

We’re in a classic struggle between those who produce and those who take. Between the individual freedom, liberty-loving, and those who think their every need should be provided FOR them. It’s the “Two Americas.”
Historically, the loudest voices were always the people of the Left — the leeches, who take from hard-working taxpayers. That was before the Tea Party’s Town Hall meetings, and the new silent majority’s voices began to rise up.
Things are changing. We must persevere.

Only difference is that it was Tea Party members doing the screaming and shutting down the meeting. Both parties would be hypocrites if they complain about this along with anybody on here that approved this behavior that summer. This is what political discourse has turned into in this country, yelling and screaming and holding our breathe. It’s shameful and it will lead to the end of our great country. i happened to catch Rand Paul on Stewart last night and i was very proud of the way those two conducted themselves in a civil debate between a liberal and a conservative. We the people and the politicians could learn a little from those two.

I just heard on the radio .. an outburst at the Governor of Ohio speech also .. WHERE IS THE CIVILITY FROM THE LEFT? Tonight is Florida’s State of the State by our governor .. The U.S. Constitution does not requre that the SOTU be spoken to both houses of congress.

“He shall from time to time give to the Congress Information of the State of the Union, and recommend to their Consideration such Measures as he shall judge necessary and expedient;”

There have been presidents who complied in an otherwise manner.

See what your state’s constitution says. If so, call your governor’s office and tell them. There may be a way to avoid another angry protest.

They have nothing BUT class… I mention why it was shut down and was descended upon by handful of angry die-hard liberals. The only fact that they pointed out was that the Blaze was started up by Glenn Beck and was complete with some “ha ha’s” like children … but anyway, according to them, this outburst was provoked by the conservative leaders.

A public forum,,,,the prog-trogs won’t let it be. They want to disrupt so nothing can get finished and then blame the Repubs for the problem.

I did notice that the problem children were standing in the back,,,must have been the prog-trog mobs INTENT on doing their disruption. They forgot to wear their orange ‘I’m a member of a gang’ shirts. I did see a few of them, however.

Local gov’ts trying to establish proper levels of spending to equate with that of the finances coming in. The prog-trogs want no part of that if it affects them, don’t care if it affects others. Bunch of selfish, self centered, childish pr*cks. Grow up children.

@bulldog, the folks during the healthcare debate, were being lied to or ignored as they obeyed the rules of the venue. This meeting and the venue was simply bulldozed. There is no equivalence here. Open your eyes or keep your mouth shut.

I always enjoy reading what you have to say. Your experience as a prison guard made you a student of human behavior, and now you share what you learned.

You are fascinating! Now. It’s a beautiful day. You retired to be with your family and to go fishing. Enjoy. And, thank you!

Thanks, but I can’t enjoy it as much when it seems that the system is crashing down. It could be one day that simple things like fishing will be illegal or overtaxed. It takes all of us to make the system work fair FOR EVERYONE.

I’ve never been one for running away and leaving it for someone else to do.

I will, however, still take my fishing days.

Slobs. I wish I could have been there but I had a very sick child :( This is my town, my wonderful Library and I know for a fact these were NOT my neighbors. I think the foreign infiltrators targeted this one because its in Walker’s home town. His boys still attend school here. Had I been able to attend, I would have made a point to mention that their minority selfishness, stifled speech for EVERYONE that night! Typical leftist tactics, scream like a child until you get what you want, who cares who else is impacted. Just get me mine! I’ll say it again……slobs. An uncultured, uneducated, slovenly, boorish, horrid example of who is championing their pathetic cause. Their stupid argument that he should have held these meetings elsewhere in preparation for their behavior is silly. Mr. Sensenbrenner holds these meetings at the Library all the time. We have a very elderly population that knows when and where they are at. Moving it might have helped out the FAT mouths on the other side but it would have limited the actual constituents who live there and ARE responsible for voting in BOTH Leah and Jim. Stick to your own cesspool Liberal towns and leave Tosa alone!

The neolibs can‘t figure out why this isn’t working. They saw Tea Party people successfully direct the tone of the conversation and got actual change in town hall meetings. When they try it, they use their thuggery tactics and it backfires. They truly don’t get it. Move over libs, the adults are back in charge.

Now we have footage to compare too how the Tea Party members act at Town Hall Meetings and How Liberals/Communists act at Town Hall Meetings. At least with Tea Party members they allowed for speakers to carry on meeting and get to the question and answer sessions, they even allowed one Senator to use her cell phone to get coaching help to respond to questions since she never read or understood what she was saying yes to.

I know this is kinda off topic…
From a die-hard liberal… feel free to give responses and I will forward to her. Maybe I’m just fed up with explaining – repeating myself and standing up for the tea parties is wearing me out. Any ideas on explaining it in simple terms would be great. As you can read – she seems to have an understanding of the tea party but to pinpoint all agendas we ‘d support or want to take away?

“My understanding of the Tea Party is that they are for increased power at the state level, fiscal responsibility and limiting judicial power (by adopting an originalist reading of the constitution). If that means that I can live in a state where abortion is legal and everyone has the right to get married, that seems fine by me. The most serious concern I have about the Tea Party is how they will reduce government spending and reduce the national debt. What programs will they stop supporting? What initiatives will they choose not to fund?
I am also concerned that many people associated with this party are social conservatives, which leads me to suspect that they would adopt their reading of the constitution to take away the rights of women (by not letting them choose what they can and can’t do to their bodies), take away the rights of gays (by not letting them get married), promote economics and free trade over serious issues like climate change and the environment or (just because I can’t not mention it) take away the rights of workers to organize and advocate on their own behalf. When that is the agenda at hand, I cannot support the party. That being said, I am very liberal and it’s possible I have misunderstood some of what the Tea Party stands for. I would love to know more from someone who identifies as a Tea Party supporter. Care to share?”
