Ann Coulter & Laura Ingraham: Palin is ‘Obama of the Tea Party,‘ Not Interested in ’Digging Deep’ on Policy

If former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin is truly interested in seeking the White House in 2012, she’ll be less-than-pleased with an exchange that aired last night between radio host and Fox News fill-in host Laura Ingraham and conservative commentator Ann Coulter.

On Tuesday evening’s “The O’Reilly Factor,” Ingraham and Coulter made some negative statements about Palin’s presidential prospects, her willingness to dig deep on policy issues and her fans’ diehard allegiance to her. During the discussion, Ingraham explained:

“…I like Sarah Palin, but I don’t think she seems all that interested in digging really, really deep on that stuff. That’s just my take on that.”

Later, Coulter — elevating the temperature of the discussion – said:

“…she’s become sort of the Obama of the Tea Party. She‘s just ’The One’ to a certain segment of right wingers. And the tiniest criticism of her — I think many of your viewers may not know this. No conservative on TV will criticize Palin, because they don’t want to deal with the hate mail…

You know, we used to all love Sarah Palin, conservatives like me, for her enemies. I’m starting to dislike her because of her fans.”

While critics will likely see these attacks on Palin and her supporters as disparaging, both Coulter and Ingraham insist that they “like” Palin. That said, both seem to want candidates who are willing to “dig deeper” and who have more substantive policy stances to share.

Considering the media power these two women have, their statements could ignite a firestorm of debate among conservatives.

Agreed. Sarah is taking some of the liberal heat/hate while livening up the crowds. To win this election, our side needs to come out en masse to repudiate Obama and his third-world style Marxism crap. Sarah is VERY effective at doing that.

But as a presidential candidate? No way.

      @RangerP,

Unlike Palin, Ron Paul is a legitimate candidate who knows better how to fix this piss poor economy than any of these other hacks running for president. It’s not a cult, it‘s people who are sick of the same ol’ status quo we’ve been getting from BOTH parties. It’s like watching a pro wrestling match; they turn it on for the cameras, but backstage they’re all part of the “good ol’ boys” club.

It‘s a sad state of American politics when RP’s views are considered extreme and out of touch….especially on so-called “conservative” sites such as this. His views are more consistent with the Constitution than any other politician out there.

You guys have no idea what is about to hit you. Pay no attention to the polls, pundits, politicos etc. Palin is the only TRUE conservative out there. She will not tow the line of the GOP like Coulter and Ingram are doing. Therefore, the powers that be (the established money) cannot afford to have a president that acually walks the walk as she is talking the talk. EVEN Ronald Reagan wasn’t as pure as she. When she announces, every conservative will slowly begin to ride the wave this tsunami will bring. You heard it here first.

The people commenting that the only thing important in 2010 is to replace Obumer are going to ruin our counrty. News flash, if we elect a do nothing conservative who will not immediately go after and remove things like the EPA, Obumercare, dept of ed, etc, then we will not have a country. The sad fact is that all of the people currently running are awful I wouldn’t trust Romney anywhere near the presidency. Romney is NOT A CONSERVATIVE, he can talk like one but he will say anything to get power and once he has it becomes liberal again. Christie is a great union buster and has some qualities that some see as desirable in a candidate, but he is a member of the liberal religion of global warming, cooling, or whatever it is this week. Christie is also firmly against the 2nd amendment, and he is a supporter of Muslim Sharia law. Ron Paul is a great economic thinker and I agree that something needs to be done about the Federal reserve, however his domestic and foreign policies are beyond horrible. Paul’s idea to legalize drugs and essentially give cartels legal rights is the same thing that Mexican officials have been by proxy doing for decades, and how is that working out for them? Paul’s foreign policy is even worse, we are almost totally alone in a world populated by people who want to destroy us, and he wants to put us into a defensive stance. Yeah, and while we’re fortifying the home front al qaeda, and our “friends” Putin, and Ahmadinejad sweep over Europe with no resis

Palin is good where she is at. She is motivating people to raise the next generation of voters that will care and make a difference. This generation is too far gone:

They think they are better than regular working people and can’t stand the idea of a regular person like Sarah Palin in the white house. If we are waiting for the LSM to like Sarah, we have a long wait. Whats important is that we like her, we support her and we will work and vote for her. He is NOT only a RHINO he is barely to thr right of Scott Brown and Olympia Snowe. He make Mitt Romney look like a right winger. As for Laura- when she fills in for O‘reilly she has a bad habit of mimmicking his style of bahing the right for every anti left stance she takes for ’fairness and balance’. She even acquiesced to Alan Combse’s point last night that TEA PARTY folks also have used violent rhetoric- HUH!! What? When? Sarah Palin is A NATURAL LEADER and that’s what attracts her fans to support a pres. run. Academics and policy hawks are overrated and NOT needed now in our country’s shape – LEADERSHIP is the key and bold stance against this leftist tyrrany will win the day. The only way any of this will get turned around is a Palin/Paul ticket. The others are just that same elitest group. Christie is a muslim lover just lilke Bush. Perry is a lets give illegals an “incentive to stay.” The only ones who are Constitutionalists are Sarah and Paul.

I get a kick out of these pundits. No matter who the Repub presidential nominee they are talking about they always get around to “specifics”. If you’ve ever been in corporate America and sat in front of top management competing for a vacant top management job and when they asked you what you would do if you got the job spewed the exact problems and fixes you would do with your new position, you’d be stupid. You would deal in generalities and just enough fact to hope to get you hired. Because what really happens is that management takes your fixes for the problems and incorporates them themselves and you are left sitting in your cubicle steaming. You have fixed corporates problems for free.
The same in politics, spouting specifics to the opposition in power allows them to analize them and either make laws to block them in the future or take them as their own. If they happen to be popular they take the credit and the nominee sits with egg on her or his face. NEVER give the opposition fuel to beat you.
My feeling is that Governor Palin will not run for the Presidency. Her power is taking the oppositions heat and backing whoever is nominated. However her chances at being the Vice Presidential nominee are the greatest. No matter what anyone says i feel this country is still not ready for a female President. Right or wrong this country still thinks an older grey haired man gives the population peace of mind overall.

One thing about Palin to me makes sense, she is as of this time not running for the postion of POTUS, and maybe not ever in the future. Note, I will not count her out for a future run, just not as of this time.

Is she running a kind of interferance for the rest of the Republicans against the media and those of the administration who hate her guts, which is the leadership at the least.

No matter what happens though, expect hades itself to be unleashed against the nation and those of the Right and the Tea Party before the next elections; I can see the administration using force and intimidation along with rigging the votes to ensure Obama has another term in office.

Assuming that is, he just does not up and grab power completely.

If the Progressives see they are going down, they will execute a scorched earth policy; they will take down everything they can to destroy it all if they cannot posess all of it.

They are what the Independents DON’T LIKE about the uber-right “Good ‘OL Boys” party. The “established” GOP had better look within themselves and MAYBE consult a few Independent voters instead of just “writing them off.”

Sarah Palin just ran a 1/2 marathon with “The People” in Iowa a few days ago. Can Romney or Perry even THINK about doing that? Get among and listen to “We The People” instead of spewing their Republican campaign dogma?

Palin was right in taking on BOTH Democrats and Republicans. It is TIME America went back to the principles of our Founding Fathers: What we WERE instead of what WE HAVE BECOME.

Get off the fence and get on board, or go away… If you Independent “open minded” people voted for Obama, you share the blame for the horrible condition of our country. The thing I think most people fail to understand is that the President of the United States is a MANAGEMENT position. You do not necessarily need to know anything except how to MANAGE. Now, does this mean you can be totally stupid on current affairs? No, of course not. But it boils down to the advisers you surround yourself with and Palin excels at this. Obama would have made at least an average president if he had simply picked the right people (both liberal and conservative) to advise him and had he simply listened to them. The knowledge is in picking the right people.

Palin knows what is right and what is wrong. She has a great sense of direction and she is good at reading not only people but also measuring the direction the wind is blowing. She is not the sharpest knife in the drawer, she is just ordinary folk…she is one of us, not a college professor, a lawyer, or a CEO. She is a soccer mom. That is why we love her. She does not need to know the intimate details of every issue, she knows what buttons to push to get things done.

She would by far be the best person for the job in this field. Unfortunately, I also believe she is unelectable…May God have mercy on this country…

I do not believe Obama is a muslim or a communist. Well…I suppose you would have to define communist…But anyway, I think Obama is seeped in his radical left ideologies, but I also believe he really believes he is governing from the middle. I also believe that in his heart he wants what he feels is best for this country, it is just that he is so screwed up…

His problem is he was always just a tool. It is not Obama, it is the people behind the clown. I do not think it is a concerted thing, I do not believe there is a “puppet master” per say, but I believe many different factions all hold a string or two. I believe Obama has angered all of these factions by this point and that is his most serious problem. It is what is going to lose him the election because these factions do not realize that a reluctant Obama in the hand is better than a RINO Perry or Romney in the bush…

If Obama decided to grow a spine and a pair then he might just rally enough dems to make a push, but he just lacks the independence. He cannot function for himself, he is lost without someone’s hand up his butt.

Obama is the ultimate definition of a tool. He is just the figurehead of everything that is wrong and evil in this country. It was their best effort, but it was not coordinated like it should have been. Because in the end anyone with this mentality is inherently selfish and only concerned with their own pet cause and not the overall picture.

Sarah would probably be a good president. I believe she has the judgment and the “stones” to do what needs to be done and surround herself with smart men to advise her.

However, I am not convinced she has the determinattion to SHOW that she has these qualities. Like it or not but women are judged by a higher standard than men. Women running for leadership positions have to prove they have the grit for it while men can rest on presumption of manly ability until shown otherwise. A healthy society is a sexist one, and we want our leaders, if they are women, to be tougher than men. Debras, Joan of Arc types and Iron Ladies like Thatcher are what will win the confidence of the masses. Confident cheerleaders or hockey Moms, attractive though they may be, are not what will win the majorities, not when it comes to a position that commands armies. Even though Obama has shown to be a feckless leader many people will still assume that he has the potential somewhere in him to rise up and LEAD, merely because he is a man. Sarah, and Michelle for that matter, have to SHOW it beforehand.

I love Sarah, but I haven’t seen her show that she wants to project that image. She is acting as the hottest Tea Party cheerleader out there. And if that is what she wants to do, I say keep doing it and don’t bother running for POTUS.

Ok, Ann Coulter says I am going to hell because I am not a Christian and Laura Ingram’s voice is hard to take. Have either one of them been a Governor? Hmmm, do they have any experience as politicians?
Shut the Front Door, both of you.

I agree with them. We need more substance than sound bites & bumper sticker slogans. She is excellent for rally’s and fundraising.

Laura, Saw this last night and you must need ratings, your knife in the back, of the TEA Party , put you in the Mr Ed category. Although , you could have been wearing a Bill O mask.

They are just snippy because Palin is playing the wild goose and they don’t understand it. A honest politician is very hard to find. Too bad she pissed off so many corrupt republicans… as well as democrats.

That is exactly it. I guess alot of people cannot stand someone who stands up for honesty and says what she believes instead of BSing her way around. I’ll take Sarah any day of the week over our current garbage that is running this country into the ground. We need to pick ourselves up and get a honest leader with guts.

Yep, they are snippy, but all along, Palin has been more engaged in the details of policy than any of these so-called ‘frontrunners’:
