Ann Coulter Skewers Todd Akin: ‘Selfish Swine’

On last night’s, “Hannity,” Ann Coulter let loose on the GOP’s Missouri Senate nominee Todd Akin with perhaps the most blistering assessment possible, calling Akin a “selfish swine” who has only remained in the race because of his ego.

According to Coulter, Akin is not only a liability to the GOP, but his comment regarding “legitimate rape” could end up costing the GOP the Senate, and even spilling over into other races.

“We’re not only going to lose a genuine Republican pickup seat unless we stage in a write-in campaign,” Coulter said, “but it is going to bleed over.”

Coulter’s indictment tread familiar ground from other anti-Akin conservatives, but being that it was from Coulter, she made it with a slightly higher degree of comprehensiveness. For instance, Coulter suggested that Akin‘s comments regarding rape were the first actual statement that could be read to feed into the Left’s “War on Women” narrative.

With that said, Coulter slammed the double standard on the Left regarding Akin’s “rape” comments.

“Todd Akin is being attacked for saying something stupid about rape. The Democrats’ keynote speaker is someone who was credibly accused of rape,” Coulter said, referring to former President Bill Clinton. “If they’re gonna have Sandra Fluke at their convention, we should have Juanita Broderick speak at ours. The idea that the Republicans are the party waging a War on Women – no, I’m sorry, we can’t, because the Democrats have already won that war.”

Boy, Glenn Beck and Ann Coulter sure have a different opinion of Akin than does http://AmericanRightToLife.org (atop their homepage), and a different opinion of Romney than http://ProlifeProfiles.com/romney (rather stunning actually, especially the Coulter Hang-Ups YouTube video on that page.

On Becks show the other day he said that there was 11 platforms out of 12 that the GOP adopted to stand for. The only one that they rejected was to get rid of the Dept. of Education. Well being from Todd Akins district I know that he is a very strong supporter of getting rid of the Dept of Education & Dept. of Energy. HMMM…. connect the dots people.

“I can’t prove that, but I believe based on what I read that the world is getting warmer. And number two, I believe that humans contribute to that… And so I think it’s important for us to reduce our emissions of pollutants and greenhouse gases that may well be significant contributors to the climate change and the global warming that you’re seeing.” – Mitt Romney

Helloooo Ann. I’m waiting on the condemnation of such a STUPID statement made just last year.

Ann Coulter is doing more to elect Claire McCaskill than Rep. Akin has. We can’t replace him so our side needs to shut up and quit piling on. This guy is an engineer so he’s hardly stupid. There is an ounce of truth to what he said. Every OB will tell you that trauma and stress can postpone ovulation. If she was not ovulating during the rape, it’s possible she would not get pregnant. Has nothing to do with “rape” per sey. Has to do with stress. He still should not have even said it. But Coulter keeping the story alive is not helpful.

I totally agree. This is where the Conservatives greatest strength turns into our greatest weakness. When a Dem lies, cheats, or steals the news gets buried and the other Dems rally. However, because we all can think for ourselves when a dult like Akin thinks he understands a topic like rape because he read a medical report, we call him on it. But now, this issue is a week old. Romney/Ryan are trying to turn the discussion back to jobs and the economy and we still have high profile “conservatives” still driving this back into the news. True, the MSM are still playing with it but responding to it is still keeping it front and center which the think that is causing the “spill over.” If we let MSM spin their wheels on this and turn all our attention to the issues that Obama can’t stand on THAT is the message that will get across to the voters. This infighting has to stop, its a waste of energy and with time running out we don’t have any to waste. Atkins got the nomination because the Tea Party split their support between his primary challengers. That was a very discouraging thing to see because as a result the old GOP machine (with a little help from Dem primary interference) got Atkins to this point. So, who’s at fault here. Certainly Atkins is at fault for not being “primetime ready” and then being so caught up in his own goals not to see a bigger picture but the bigger pictures was what was lost from the start. We need to as individuals focus as one here.

Akin is a boob, and if he hadn’t made this mistake there would have been another one. I gave him the benefit of the doubt at first, but then I heard him defend himself the next day on Hannity’s radio show – he couldn’t…and he sounded thick and dumb. Now, he’s turned a 10 point poll lead to a 10 poll loss according to Rasmussen – a 20 point shift. Coulter is right, the only hope is a major write-in campaign. Missouri has some big names they can trot out – Kip Bond, John Ashcroft and Jim Talent are all former senators (Ashcroft was also governor and US attorney general) – so there‘s some real hope it would work with some financial backing from the RNC and Rove’s group.

I think that silly pompadour woman on talking to Ann Coulter was siller than Jim Carey. That hair of hers and that twitching face with the side sneer made the woman look retarded. She looked like she was ever bit trying to impress someone talking out of the side of her mouth, smiling with the sneer smile like she knew something. She was just an embarrassment to anyone, even to anyone who would listen to what the Democrats had to say. If that is the best they can do to find someone to represent the left, than they are better off getting Flocking Fluke speaking on their behalf. At least she is easier to look at. Nothing in her head, but that is typical democrat and to be expected. They all think with their azz that is why they use the symbol of a donkey.

Ann Coulter looking as classy and accurate as possible. It‘s not his ego it’s his ideology, which is obviously shared by more Republicans than would want to admit it. For example Paul Ryan, who’s call for him to resign was symbolic at best given his voting record and personhood bill.

The trouble the GOP REALLY has, is that Akin’s opinions
ARE EXACTLY THE SAME AS RYAN’S and 98% of all other Republicans.
His NON disappearance just reinforces that fact.

That’s not a problem since over half of the country identify themselves as pro-life. It’s the Dems that campaign on murdering the unborn. Good luck with that. Especially since your president is ok with murdering them outside of the womb if the abortion didn’t “take”. I hope you gouls keep pressing this issue.

He may be staying in the race so the Dems will pick up another seat. A man who would say something like that is capable of anything. Run someone else. It is better than nothing. He may get a few votes from those who do not know who he is enough to take away from someone who is more fitting would be the problem. It would be good to include why to vote for the new person running as to why not vote for Aiken. This man has not got a chance to win, and is not fit to be in leadership. The Republican man or woman who is going to run against Aiken needs to let the public know why he/she is running against him.

Maybe he’s staying in the race because he feels that he made an honest mistake and that he made a sincere apology and that he learned from it.

Personally, I wonder why it’s ok to be wrong about some things and apologize for it while other things are off limits for mistakes. I don’t know about anyone else, but I wasn’t born with knowledge or opinion of anything; all my knowledge and opinion were developed and acquired afterward and sometimes I’ve found out later that some things were wrong, even though I didn’t mean for that to be the case.

I don’t really look for elected officials who have never been wrong on anything. I prefer to vote for individuals who vote on principle and who can admit being wrong, apologize for it, and move on.

And, frankly, I’m a little tired of Republicans being so timid on issues like abortion, that instead of acknowledging that a mistake was made and learned from, and steering back to the issues, they send someone to the firing squad rather than stand up to Democrat screaming and spin.
