Anonymous Allegedly Hacks Britain’s Home Office Website in Response to ‘Draconian Surveillance Proposals’

The hacktivist group “Anonymous” is claiming responsibility for the temporary failure of Britain’s Home Office website. A Twitter account claiming to represent the group said the hack is in response to the country’s “draconian surveillance proposals” and extradition laws.
Statements like “Tango Down: http://www.homeoffice.gov.uk | Keep Firing!!!! Keep it down! Make them hear you!…” and, “We are not famous, we are #Anonymous however I do reckon #Britains finest are trying to locate me” were retweeted by the site on Saturday.
The Guardian described how it unfolded:
The group was thought to have used a denial-of-service attack, where large numbers of computers overload a website with requests.
If proven to be true, the incident could prove embarrassing for the government as the method is considered one of the least complicated tools in the hackers’ arsenal. Anonymous had promised to carry out the mass assault in a tweet posted on Wednesday and a flurry of messages in following days encouraged supporters to join in…
Earlier this week Britain’s Home Office announced its plans “to legislate as soon as parliamentary time allows” to implement email surveillance measures. While the government maintains the change will help fight terrorism and crime, critics say it is an attack on personal privacy.
A Home Office spokesman said the situation was being monitored “very closely,” but was not in a position to discuss who may have been responsible.
Earlier this week, Anonymous also claimed responsibility for an attack on hundreds of Chinese websites, urging the citizenry to “Fight for justice, fight for freedom, fight for democracy!”

The “hacktivist” group often describes itself:
We are Anonymous.
We are Legion.
We do not forgive.
We do not forget.Expect us.

Posted on April 11, 2012 at 6:36am“Anonymous” may once have been a homogenous band of high-minded hacktivist heroes working selflessly for the greater good. But sadly, that ship has sailed.
“Anonymous” has been occupied. And no longer just by web warriors laying waste to websites of the wicked, computer wizards worming their way into the iPhones of “Internet Security” frauds, or digital do-gooders doxing Congressional dolts and other corporate-controlled degenerates.
Like Al Qaeda, Anonymous is no longer a band. Like Al Qaeda, Anonymous is now just a brand. Like Al Qaeda, Anonymous is the boogeyman. What “Al Qaida Terrorism” did for the corporate cartel controlling America’s Military Industrial Complex, “Anonymous Hacktivism” will do for that same corporate cartel’s Terrorism Industrial Complex, the vastness and taxpayer cost of which – if ever disclosed – would certainly defy comprehension. Here is the awful, ugly truth:

Posted on April 8, 2012 at 5:30pmA Hacker is a master of logic & reason.
Understanding code, exploiting the dissonance when the program is illogical.
When a hacker cannot do this with a machine, they can do it with hominids.
Machine or Hominid, a zombie is still a zombie, no matter who programmed it. Whoever knows how to tap into the zombie, is able to use it for their own gain.
The zombies were programmed to destroy you. They were never programmed to defend the basis of their software, they were only trained to spout what they were trained to spout, as many of you already know.
Bringing down the system will destroy the programming of the zombies. This is all in your favor.

Posted on April 7, 2012 at 7:18pmAgain I have to wonder if these attacks by the Annonymous bands is being used as a cover by other groups to try and infiltrate the nations government, defense, security, economic and banking systems in many different nations.
Think about it for a minute; the main Annonymous groups can claim successes, yet other groups or governments could use these attacks to gauge responses and seek other possible ways to enter the systems.
I don’t know about anyone else, its with Annonymous something still does not feel right; its like a figure in the shadows that moves and occasionaly is heard, yet cannot be determined.

Posted on April 7, 2012 at 9:57pmI think it‘s a ’dummy group’. A “front” a useful tool in gaining access. When “Anon” crashes the grid-oh, the uproar. Can you imagine?
Of course, this law and that law will pass with popular backing-all in the name of security against these phantom hooligans.
My goodness, we will all just fall over ourselves to hunt them down and provide the means to do it. Funny thing is, I think the hunter and the prey are one in the same. Oh, tons of useful idiots to carry it out, but the puppetmasters? The ones who pull the strings?
Right now, they are pulling on the ‘fear’ strings. Pitting one group against the other. Union vs. Non-Union. White vs. BLack (they didn’t play up Hispanic regarding Zimmerman, now have they?). Now some idiot is making it even worse.
Deep down, I always thought it would be some superflu aka Capt. Tripp. Now, I see it as something MUCH more simple, MUCH more easy to control, take away that which makes things “go” and …
Katrina took all of 3 days for complete breakdown of “Society”. Rioting, looting, euthenizing the elderly in the face of flood. Confiscation of LEGAL GUNS…got their names from a list.

Posted on April 8, 2012 at 1:07am@Kangaroo:
That is the worse case scenario I can imagine:
Hackers unleashing a series of denial and disruptive attacks on the nations infrastructure and the national defense areas; some of the most devastating from groups shielded indirectly by Annon.
One or more nations may use the opportunity to unleash cyber and economic attacks, while terror groups sanctioned by Iran or other non-government entities like Al Queda or their branches carry forth their plans as well with physical attacks.
Consider in that case the terror and disruption caused by the Anthrax scare mixed with the beltway sniper, then magnify it countless times over.
At the same time Occupy groups, radicals, race haters, extremists and anarchists are unleashed in the cities and country side by Obama and his supporters.
He then has the excuse, when called upon by a few people and his Congress supporters, to declare martial law (in the name of ‘national security’ or such, as the latest executive order outlines all too clearly) and we have an instant autocratic dictator.
Kaiser Obama will rule and control all or destroy all; there are no inbetweens for him.
Such again is the worst case, yet I can see it happen if the opportunity comes.
The good news is that only one portion of the combination of events has to come undone to stop the chain reaction from occuring.

Normally I agree with you, But, I don’t know why you would refer to them as them as if they are an it. They are an idea and one that started as something. That something is evolving and into what no one knows. They for now, are just anyone that wants to hack. It reminds me of Muslims that attack and then people refer to them as “EXTREMIST” as if extremist are an organized IT. They are at best a pop cult. The symbolism is STRONG but doesn’t seem cohesive and therefore can be used by whomever, and that is dangerous. Love ya dude I always enjoy your comments.
