Anonymous Hack of Syrian Government Emails Reveals Just What They Think of the West

Anonymous has leaked hundreds of emails from Syria’s top officials within the Ministry of Presidential Affairs, revealing not only content but passwords as well.

SlashGear reports that 78 inboxes were accessed by the hacking collective and points out that while breech of security may be embarrassing to the Syrian government, the exposed content reveals “valuable insights into how top-level politicians perceive and are briefed on the West.”

Haaretz states that the content of one of these emails was about President Bashar Assad preparing for his interview with Barbara Walters in Dec. 2011. Sheherazad Jaafari, who helped set up the interview and knew violence by the country against its own people would be discussed, advises Assad to say that mistakes had been made:

“[...] the American psyche can be easily manipulated when they hear that there are ‘mistakes’ done and now we are ‘fixing it.’ It’s worth mentioning also what is happening now in Wall Street and the way the demonstrations are been suppressed by policemen, police dogs and beatings.”

“It would be worth mentioning how your personality has been attacked and praised in the last decade according to the media. At one point H.E. was viewed as a hero and in other times H.E. was the ‘bad guy’. Americans love these kinds of things get convinced by it.”

More content from the leaked email to prepare Assad for his interview with Walters.

Haaretz reports that emails from the Minister of Presidential Affairs Mansour Fadlallah Azzam and Assad’s media adviser, Bouthaina Shaaban, were also included in the attack.

SlashGear notes that poor password choice such as “1234” and “iloveyou” were likely to blame for the infiltration by Anonymous.

This email attack comes as violence has been raging in the country in the last few days.

      How we act at home being used to justify actions abroad! When evil actions gives those actions a pass it must do so publicly to justify oneself for their own evil deeds. Thus sanctifying those actions in the public eye and erasing all responsibility. We do this with the gay rights issue, because we look at our own lives and say, I’m not perfect so who am I to judge. We look at everything in this way and know what we do is wrong but are incapable of standing up for what we know to be right because we ourselves are condemned. Its not until we are redeemed by Christ who can erase all sins that we then can find ourselves able to find the personal strength to resist and defeat sin so that others do not have to suffer the same things.

      It was sound advice. Jon Corzine rips off $1.2 billion in customer money, says mistakes were made, no talk of charges or jail. Solyndra rips off $500 million taxpayer money, mistakes were made, no one goes to jail. Banksters get a $7.77 trillion dollar bailout from taxpayers and the FED, mistakes were made, no one goes to jail. George Bush gets us in a war in Iraq over non-existent WMDs, mistakes were made, trillions spent and lives lost, etc, etc….

      Yes, “mistakes were made” works on the American sheeple, and you ain’t seen nothing yet.

      Chief, our first encouter clearly did not translate well to me and and delighted to apollogize to you for any misunderstanding. Yes, you are “laser focused” on the target. We all have our transgressions but it is our beliefs that should uphold us to aspire higher, not lower. We’ve become too complacent, now known as PC. We need to be stand firm on the “word” but it must be done with compassion.

      Yes we are the problem we must STOP allowing the Government to tell us what to do or think. We have been allowing the Government to fix Government for us. The Government is not there to tell us what to do it is for US to TELL the Government what to do. Our rights are inalienable, WE DON’T GET THEM FROM GOVERNMENT, but we do ‘allow’ Government to, sometimes, limit some of those rights…But ‘THEY WORK FOR US’ not the other way around. We are finally get sick of them telling us what to do….and I am sick of them telling me what to do…GET OUT OF MY FACE!       Americans ARE sheeple. Just look at the Repub nominee cycle. Look! Look! Bachmann won a straw poll! Everyone runs to back Bachmann. Look! Look! Perry is now surging in the polls! Everyone runs to back Perry. Look! Look! Get on the Cain train! Tons flock to ‘get on board’. Look at what a great debater Newt is! The sheeple herd to him.
      TMPlarnite correctly says the government needs to get out of our lives yet now the sheeple are flocking to Santorum who wants to turn America into a quasi theocracy. Santorum doesn’t see individuals with varying degrees of beliefs. He doesn‘t acknowledge that Roe v Wade is unConstitutional because there is no authority in the Constitution to regulate and control abortions but because of the far right’s version of social justice – social values. Social justice and social values are just two sides of the same coin – they are imposed to control and regulate how a person behaves.
      As a free, sovereign individual I don’t want any government to tell me how to think, feel, act. I don’t need a government to legislate abortion laws because I know that killing is a grievous sin. I don’t need a government telling me what to eat because they want to take over my healthcare and feel they can dictate my lifestyle.
      And I certainly don’t need anyone telling me which candidate to vote for because I decided long ago that I will only vote for the candidate who will be true to his oath of office and follow the Constitution.

      If anyone in their right mind believes that Obammie is going to unseat al-Assad by employing Libya-like tactics of throwing a few jet fighters into the fray, they are sadly mistaken. The coming of the 12th Imam may not be too far off thanks to Obammie’s incompetence!

      right on. the reason we are concerned, or should i say; the administration is concerned is that assad and his old man see mullahs and other muslim radicals the way they are. when they started preaching supreme control in the mosque and to over through the government, assads old man had the imams and mullahs dragged out in the street and shot in the head. then he told what is now known as the muslim brotherhood to watch themselves. the son is the same and will not take anything off the muslim brotherhood.
      now since the brotherhood has thier man in the white house, the can count on his support. ya the president helped give the brotherhood egypt and libya and is shifting iraq to them but assad ain’t gonna take non of that. and he is armed and makes his nieghbors nervous. the brotherhood needs to move arms into lebanon to surround isreal now that the we have effectively given them egypt and iraq. assad won’t take that. turkey will also not put up with iranian influence in syria.
      Obamas goal of pre 67 conditions is really pre 45 conditions. ALL LIBERAL DEMOCRATS hate isreal not just because they are jews but the fact of christian faith is tied to that area. for obama to destroy the christian influence in america he has to try and destroy it at its core, or what those around him percieve as its core. rome and utah are the other targets.

      SNOWLEOPARD, That has crossed my mind as well. No surprise that we are hated and why? The USA is what every country wants to be and is not. Our strength and power has been a thorn in the sides of many leaders worldwide. The fact that people have the right to succeed and prosper poses a threat to the exisitance of dictators that never want their people to question their way of life. To live in a country where there is freedom? To be well paid for your labors? To have food on the table and money left over? Yes, things are difficult here on our soil but compared to the daily life of so many in the world even our worst situation by far exceeds theirs. If some of the leaders of the world would have their way we would suffer in the same way here as well. I think our president has made a deal with the devil to push the progressive agenda that could very well make that happen. Would the progressives use those tactics as you suggest SNOWLEOPARD? I fear that they would indeed.

      I don’t think so, Snow. Anonymous are a bunch of anarchists and, as such, are a double edged sword.

      I remember when they hacked US and other western diplomat’s emails which revealed some uncomplimentary thoughts about their despotic opposite numbers. That was a bit embarressing for the west.

      I don’t think that the diplomatic world will be much surprised by this, but it is illuminating for the rest of us.

      @Spank – right there with the Drudge Report showing that the Pentagon is already doing preliminary war gaming for Syria if I read it right; there was a brief account in the UK Independant that Iran has sent 15K troops to ‘assist in brotherhood’ Assad.

      If Obama gets into Syria, we will have a world war the likes of which no one can imagine.

    Is there any better proof then this statement on who the Obama supporters really are? Can’t you see the Obama administartion saying the same thing to Barry right before he goes and speaks about any one of the decisions he has made?
    I know that when the Syrian gov‘t says these things to Assad they are not adressing people like us becuase we haven’t been buying this B.S. all along. It’s the “I am a liberal so I am so smart that all I need to do is listen to Bill Maher and Barry Obaba for my information” crowd they are addressing. Oh and the 99%.

      When we elect leaders like Obama, it’s easy to see how they would think that though. I think the world views the U.S. as if we’re all from N.Y. or California. They don’t know about the heart of the country. Why should they? Our own media ignores everything between ths coasts.

      @jhaydeng. While I find anonymous annoying, look what they can do with limited funding…..(well unless Soros is backing them big time)….but, anyway, my thought here is this….if these hacks can get into these places, it stands to reason that the full weight of the U.S. military, CIA and FBI has far superior technology and advantages. What makes me wonder is how much they know and don’t tell us? I know Obamma promised to close Gitmo. Opened his presidency with that presidential order prior to his “real” security debriefing, and even Obamma has not stopped all of the things Bush and Cheney put into place. It would seem the U.S. knows what is out there…and we don’t know.

      I too am impressed with anons abilities, and occasionally they do something kind of nice. On 4chan this week someone posted about an elderly man who had hundreds of videos up on you tube, and they had only been viewed up to 5 times. Stanley has been posting videos since 2006. His latest video only had 5 views when they posted in 4chan to “show this man some love”. Last I looked he had over 200,000 views in just a couple days on that video. http://www.youtube.com/user/stanleyrr
      This will give you an idea how quickly they can get things done, how quickly they can move people. I am not neccessarily a fan of anon, but do find them intriguing and have been following them for months as a hobby. They can cause us alot of hurt if they want to. Unfortunately, they feel they are on the side of justice, back the OWS and the muslim brotherhood. When ever they see what they perceive as injustice they can move mountains in minutes. This week they were insulted when symantic offered $50,000 to get their antivirus code back, so they posted the emails between them and symantec, and are now giving away the norton antivirus code, leaving many of us vulnerable. They act as individuals, but share their info quickly via twitter and other social media. They send notes with text imbedded in photos so they can get around watching eyes. It is all amazing to me. I am a little afraid of them, but find the whole thing just unbelievable. They own the internet and everything attached to it.
