Anonymous Hacks Into and Records FBI Conference Call … About Them

LONDON (The Blaze/AP) — A sensitive conference call between FBI and British police’s cybercrime investigators was recorded by the very people they were trying to catch, officials and hackers said Friday.
Hacking collective Anonymous published a roughly 15-minute-long recording of a conference call apparently devoted to tracking and prosecuting members of the loosely-knit group.
Listen to the recorded call:
The FBI said the information “was intended for law enforcement officers only and was illegally obtained.”
“A criminal investigation is under way to identify and hold accountable those responsible,” the bureau said in a statement.
It’s not clear how the hackers got their hands on the recording, which appears to have been edited to bleep out the names of some of the suspects being discussed.
“The FBI might be curious how we’re able to continuously read their internal comms for some time now,” the group gloated in a message posted to Twitter.
Here are a few other tweets:

Amid the material published by Anonymous was a message purportedly sent by an FBI agent to international law enforcement agencies. It invites his foreign counterparts to join the call to “discuss the ongoing investigations related to Anonymous … and other associated splinter groups.” The email contained a phone number and password for accessing the call.
The email is addressed to officials in the U.K., Ireland, the Netherlands, Sweden and France, but only American and British officials can be heard on the recording.
Graham Cluley, an expert with data security company Sophos, said that hackers had been able to eavesdrop on the call because they had compromised an investigator’s emails.
“No doubt the police authorities will be appalled to realize that the very people that they are trying to apprehend, could have been tuning in to their internal conversations,” he wrote in a blog post.
An email to the FBI agent who sent the email was not immediately returned, while one of the British investigators on the call referred questions to Scotland Yard’s press office.
The press office said it was still working on a statement.
The recorded discussion itself appears sensitive. Those on the call talk about what legal strategy to pursue in the cases of Ryan Cleary and Jake Davis — two British suspects linked to Anonymous — and discuss details of the evidence gathered against other suspects.
Gizmodo states in the call the officials talk of “‘Project Mayhem or whatever the hell that was,’ and dismissing the kids as attention-seeking idiots.”
Karen Todner, a lawyer for Cleary, said that the recording could be “incredibly sensitive” and warned that such data breaches had the potential to derail the police’s work.
“If they haven’t secured their email it could potentially prejudice the investigation,” she told The Associated Press.
Anonymous is an amorphous collection of Internet enthusiasts, pranksters and activists whose targets have included the Church of Scientology, the music industry, and financial companies such as Visa and MasterCard.
Following a spate of arrests across the world, the group and its various offshoots have focused their attention on law enforcement agencies in general and the FBI in particular. In fact, just this morning the Boston Globe reported that the Boston Police Department’s website had been hacked by Anonymous:
“It is unfortunate that someone would go to this extent to compromise BPDNews.com, a helpful and informative public safety resource utilized daily by community members seeking up-to-date news and information about important safety matters,” the department said in the statement.
The bpdnews.com website, normally a bright, colorful site with an upbeat tone despite its daily beat of crime information, was replaced by another site titled “antisec,” headlined, “ANONYMOUS HACKS BOSTON POLICE WEBSITE IN RETALIATION FOR POLICE BRUTALITY AT OWS.”
In red letters on a black background, the site also proclaimed there was “plenty more mayhem to deliver.”
Gizmodo reports that the hack against Boston PD was in response to alleged police brutality at Occupy Boston.

I don’t know who they are for….I fear they are part of the Coming Insurrection group…..
I fear they are most likely one group responsible for OWS and the Arab Spring revolutions. I hope I am wrong.

Okay, Anonymous, now that you’ve shown promise,
let’s see if you can crack this one. Find Obama’s grade transcripts,
friends from college, or something he wrote.
Sorry, I know it’s tough, better stick with the FBI / CIA hacking.

Posted on February 3, 2012 at 1:01pmSeems like we should be firing whomever is in charge of IT security at The Pentagon, CIA, FBI, INS, DHS, etc. No one should be able to hack into our systems. If they can, something is wrong, and some people have to be replaced.
Maybe we should start with The Senate Intelligence Comittee. (Talk about an oxymoron!) They are not able to keep any secrets from our enemies.

I feel the same way. I do not know who the good guys are anymore. These folks have some valid complaints. I am not sure of thier tactics, especially thier dox drops when it includes the families, but I understand thier frustration of our government, patriot act, acta etc. Some of the things they mention on pastebin I have to look up. I learn as much from them as I do from the mainstream media outlets, I am finding more and more evil in this world. But if you watch thier tweets and who they follow and who they communicate with, then Glenn is right. Last night I was following one anon and he was talking with a guy in palestine who was saying the terrorists were bombing them again. Then thier constant support of the occupy movement. You learn alot more from thier pastbin posts. I had no idea who perf really was.I learned alot more about it from them. And here is another example http://pastebin.com/dZsXvgce. I just really don’t know who the good guys are anymore.

Posted on February 3, 2012 at 12:17pmDon’t believe everything that you read, and use common sense when pondering who to believe. For example, if Anon could do at will what is described here, don’t you think that they would have the goods on all officials, everywhere? If is was as they say, heads would be spinning indeed, but we would also know who killed JFK, if or not there are aliens here, what is in area 51, and all the other little things we don’t know, and the government does.
Report Post »What happened here, most likely, is that someone sold the “recording” to someone and this what you get. See they imply that anon tapped the lines, but what they did was manage to get a recording of the conversation, and publish that. Whoever, was involved is running scared right now, as the FBI is not to be triffled with.
Knowing something about hacking I can say that ditgital hacking of land lines is possible, but not without haveing access to some highly sensitive hardware belonging to the phone system. Assuming that the conversation was on a “secured” line, that hacking could not be done.
This story, as is written is total BS

Posted on February 3, 2012 at 11:49amIt is very impressive and points to one major piece of info…get ready, here comes Captain Obvious, if they hacked a conference call, they have tentacles inside the FBI or UK services. These conference calls are all random with varying passcodes. I hope they find them all and crucify each and every one. of this group of asswipes.

Posted on February 3, 2012 at 12:15pmThis is a tough issue. Look, you know how corrupt our current government is. Wouldn’t it be great if more people were able to crack the system and expose the truth? If they are not breaking into national security, then i support this sort of effort…It’s a modern day civil disobedience.
