Anonymous Takes Responsibility for CBS.com Hacking

The hacker collective Anonymous has struck again since taking down the Department of Justice website Thursday, briefly disabling CBS.com in further retaliation to the government shutdown of Megaupload.com.  The organization has recently taken down the websites of the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America), Universal Music Group and MPAA (Motion Picture Association of America) in retaliation to the action taken against the file-sharing site MegaUpload. National Journal reports on Sunday’s hacking:

“Several Twitter accounts linked to Anonymous, a loosely organized collective of hackers, posted messages claiming responsibility for the hack, some of them mentioning ”#OpMegaUpload,” shorthand for Operation Mega Upload. At least one suggested Fox would be targeted next.”

Gizmodo reports that if you went to CBS.com at the time Anonymous attacked it, there was nothing except an index page with a single file. The Hacker News reports that Anonymous also attacked websites in Brazil in protest to the forced closure of MegaUpload.  Websites of Brazil’s federal district, Tangara da Serra and the site of Brazilian singer Paula Fernandes were all shutdown with the image posted of a grim-faced joker saying “If MegaUpload is down, you are down too.”

Earlier in the day TheAnonMessage Youtube channel released a video entitled “Operation Sony Has Commenced.” The video description read:

“ATTACK STARTS AT 1PM. We are attacking now. Expect our results in 24 hours.

Operation Sony, engaged.”

Some one said this group thinks it is special and does not have to follow the rules like everyone else. They are smarter and better than the rest of us. These are the ear marks of sociopaths. If it is true that they are sociopaths, then it follows they are trying to tear down the system. They might claim they are out to do good but that is what they always say. Compulsive liars. What type of people want to tear down the system? Left or right? You are probably right these useful idiots are at least working with the gov. if not part of it. The hackers need hacked.

I wish they would expose Hillary (yes, Hillary) but I’m not sure how. Maybe all the communist/socialist associations on that side. Why? Because that party needs to be recreated from it’s far Left stance. We need two parties competing against each other but both under the constitution and Democrats have left the building. And I wish they would then, (not first or at the same time) show over and over and over and on multiple sites the complete falsehood of O’s birth certificate – paint it clear for the world to see; but doing this only would only strengthen Hillary.

Holder could catch them right now but he is saving them for October to start a national emergency and our elections will have to be put off for 5 or 6 years. The best hackers work for the government or go to prison. Holder will use these hackers or send to Gitmo as terrorists. This is what happened to Mohamed Rashid, Boris Novikov, Karla Sharif, Vasey Kusman and others that just dissapeared. These folks thought they were the best hackers in the world but the guys working for obama were smarter.

Anonymous is a government operation. Fast & Furious objective was to curtail 2nd Amendment liberties. Anonymous objective is to justify federal controls over companies that operate entities involved with Internet. Check out the cyber warfare center at Ft Belvoir, Va. Do you think if Anonymous was an outside group that wanted to embarrass the government they are doing it by blocking DOJ and CBS public websites? Wouldn‘t it be more effective to expose Holder’s involvement in Fast & Furious emails or Obama’s strategy emails about the Muslim Brotherhood meetings. They don’t go there because they ARE there. Wake up.

Highly doubt it. If they were a government operation, why on earth would they shutdown the DOJ site and then CBS? As well as the RIAA and the MPAA? And they’re supposedly targeting Fox next? Maybe it’s because all of those places support SOPA? They aren‘t taking down sites that don’t support SOPA.

The FBI takes down MegaUpload, a site that can be used to trade copyrighted files. It’s also a site that can be used for perfectly legal purposes. I‘ve used similar sites myself when I needed to get large amounts of data to people and sending it by email just wasn’t feasible. I was in charge of the data and there was nothing illegal about the transaction. If the government wants to shut down piracy, they need to target the large scale guys at the source, not a site that can be used for legitimate purposes. What they did was akin to shutting down a gun store because a few individuals got a hold of guns sold from that store and used them in a crime. It makes no sense and they’re going after the completely wrong people.

I’m not always in favor of what Anonymous does, but in this case I do support them. Wikileaks is a completely different organization and should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law. Of course, if our government weren’t doing questionable things, they wouldn’t have to worry about these leaks.

As others mentioned, it could very well a government or pro-goverment supporter to have a stronger case on censoring and putting more security measures in place on the internet. Back in my high school years I remember gangs would go gangbanging (beating up people or other gang members for fun and show of intimidation) and they would claim they‘re from a rival gang and then the guys who got beat up would go back to their gang and tell them they were jumped by so and so gang which in fact wasn’t even the actual gang since they were lied to. This could well be a similiar situation but who knows. If it’s the real Anonymous group, I would imagine they could take it to a whole other level and seek out all the people (gov’t officials, celebs, etc) who are supporting the SOPA bill and cause them a lot of trouble such as hacking their emails, twitter, facebook accounts, bank accounts and embarass them like how Anthony Weiner in NY got in a whole lot of trouble and embarassment for showing pics of his weener!

Like it or not we have entered the era of cyber warfare, We should choose sides and make sure these hacking efforts are put to good use. There is plenty in our bureaucratic system that needs to be exposed and taken down.
