Palin Calls Politico‘s Latest Hit Piece ’Crap’

Fresh off of reporting Sarah Palin’s midterm speaking tour was “wreaking havoc” on the campaign trail, Politico is out with an article saying that the goal of Republican leaders after the elections is simple: “Stop Sarah Palin.”

“Interviews with advisers to the main 2012 presidential contenders and with other veteran Republican operatives make clear they see themselves on a common, if uncoordinated, mission of halting the momentum and credibility Palin gained with conservative activists by plunging so aggressively into this year’s midterm campaigns,” Politico’s story published Sunday night says.

Using anonymous sources, Politico paints Palin as a threat to establishment Republicans who don’t believe she is viable 2012 candidate:

“There is a determined, focused establishment effort … to find a candidate we can coalesce around who can beat Sarah Palin,” said one prominent and longtime Washington Republican. “We believe she could get the nomination, but Barack Obama would crush her.”

This sentiment was a nearly constant refrain in POLITICO interviews with top advisers to the candidates most frequently mentioned as running in 2012 and a diverse assortment of other top GOP officials

On Sunday, Palin responded by going after Politico:

This isn’t the first time Palin has clashed with Politico. After the last piece, she appeared on Glenn Beck’s radio show and called the author of that piece a “punk.”

Read Politico’s new story here.

Watch Palin’s full reaction with Greta Van Susteren, including her calling the piece “crap”:

UPDATE:

Palin’s camp is already trying to capitalize on the Politico piece. After her political action committee’s website gives a rundown of the latest article, it asks supporters for donations. Interestingly, though, it doesn’t ask for donations in the name of stopping the “lamestream media,“ but rather asks supporters to ”help stop the GOP Establishment strategy.”

The rest of the PAC’s article is in line with the fundraising request:

If Governor Palin were to win the GOP nomination, the Establishment dies. Governor Palin always speaks in glowing terms about the planks of the GOP being strong, and she is right. Those planks of the GOP–fiscal responsibility, a strong national defense, and the sanctity of life–are all planks that she chooses to firmly stand on. The Establishment, in a constant desire to create a “Big Tent” Republican party, has sought to drive the stakes of this “Big Tent” into squish, moderate ground, which would ultimately cause the tent to collapse.

Still, it seems that those outside the GOP establishment are embracing Palin. Over the weekend she made “robo calls” in 56 congressional districts and in 14 states with competitive Senate and gubernatorial races, including Ohio, Pennsylvania, Colorado, Florida, Illinois, Washington, Nevada and Wisconsin.

It’s the same message across the country, but is tailored to each state.

Eavesdrop on a call:

UPDATE II:

One of the article’s authors, Mike Allen, appeared on Laura Ingraham’s radio show to defend the piece. He thinks the article will end up benefiting Palin since she regularly speaks out against the establishment:

As a defender of the Constitution, as a U.S. patriot, honoring our service people, as an ardent proponent of ridding the houses of corrupt RINOs and their ilk, I believe her best role might just be as

I agree BOILITDOWN. If Republicans think Obama would crush her in 2012 I don’t think we should take that chance as a country. Sarah seems to say all the right things a conservative likes to hear but I feel we cannot elect another unqualified President to run this country. She needs to stick with finding new conservative candidates to back in the House and Senate so we can replace the ones that are up for reelection in two years.

I completely agree. Sarah is a fantastic conservative leader, and has done tremendous work this past 2 years bringing the focus back on conservative values and the need for electing the right candidates; but now we’re going to have to elect someone as President who has serious experience (at home and abroad), one who can not only destroy Obama in 2012, but can lead the country through very perilous times. I believe Sarah needs to get back in as a Senator or Congresswoman and grab the microphone to help lead those teams in Congress, and keep them true to the Tea Party principles that so many are demanding of their elected officials. Sarah adds great value, let’s encourage her to stay strategic.

I still believe the dems will have to put up Hillary in 2012. She craves the power. She’s just waiting to resign (I’m sure not too long after the slaughter tomorrow). She’s going to claim the American public, specifically those that entrusted Obama in 2008, have “lost confidence” in him, and she will feel compelled (along with good ‘ol Bill by her side) to reinvigorate the Democratic Party. Just wait… I’d bet on it… the Clintonistas have never given up their agenda. And that, Ladies and Gentlemen, will be the challenge for any Republican candidate. Obama has lost his mojo and Hillary may be their only hope of pulling off a win in 2012.

Since liberals have been instructing students majoring in journalism for the last 30+ years with the liberal slant it should be no surprise that many reporters of today are speaking purposefully with a Progressive slant, and some with naivity, stupidity or fear.

Mike, I agree. There are ‘elite’ Republicans that are desperate to hold on to power. Sarah Palin represents a new breed of Republican – one that puts country first and that respects the will of the people. Karl Rove, while I respect the man and his abilities, is an elite. The lame stream media loves to ‘quote’ any Republican that eats their own yet I don’t see them seeking out Democrats that do the same. The media is left leaning – you have to be blind not to see that – just look at the coverage of this election. One example is calling Republicans extreme for wanting to tackle Social Security yet a Democratic that says Republicans want people to die is never labeled as such.

Let us not forget Ron Paul. He has been doing what Sarah is doing for much longer. Ron’s meet up groups are a large part of what makes up the TEA movement. Plus Ron has a fairly long history in Congress of staying true to the Constitution. Many times his was the only no vote against UN-Constitutional measures.

I am not putting Palin down. Rather I would suggest that we not forget that their are others that set the example that Sarah, to her credit, now emulates.

I would say nominate Paul & Palin. She would be a great VP. And the next President after Ron. Doing that IMO would give us 16 years to work to fix what the ‘progressives’ have done to the USA as they seek to sell us out to the one world govt cabals. We already know what Paul would do as Prez.. Add what Ron Paul has done in Congress for some 3 decades to Palin’s own accomplishments & energy and I would think we would have a truly winning combination for the restoration of the US to our Founder’s roots.

I would also suggest checking out Chuck Baldwin & Judge Napolitano And don’t forget Michelle Bachman. There is also Glenn…:-)

IMO any one the RNC suggests should be suspect. Huckabee, Romney, Rudy G, Nitwit Gingrich…Rove reeks!

If we had term limits then we would lose the few good people like Ron Paul we have. If we stopped gerrymandering I think we would be better off than having term limits. Term limits for us should be at the ballot box. Why has that not worked? Why have we taken so long to vote out RINO’s & ‘progressives’? For heaven’s sake, my state sent McLame back to DC! How stupid is that??? And WHY did he win again??? How stupid is my state….????

Sarah Palin has been in executive level politics for almost 20 years.
      Some of Sarah’s accomplishments.

In Alaska, Sarah’s top priorities included fiscal restraint, limiting the size of government, resource development, education, equitable oil valuation as well as transportation and infrastructure development. Sarah Palin fought for ethics reform and transparency in government.

Sarah Palin has a long record of achievement and experience in public office.Prior her election as Governor, Palin served two terms on the Wasilla City Council and two terms as the mayor of Wasilla. During her tenure, she reduced property tax levels while increasing services and made Wasilla a business-friendly environment, drawing in new industry.

Under her leadership as Governor, Alaska invested $5 billion in state savings, overhauled education funding and protected Alaska’s natural resources. She created Alaska’s Petroleum Systems Integrity Office to provide oversight and maintenance of oil and gas equipment, facilities and infrastructure and the Climate Change Subcabinet to prepare a climate change strategy for Alaska.

During Governor Palin’s first year in office, three of her administrations major proposed pieces of legislation passed—an overhaul of the state’s ethics laws, a competitive process to construct a natural gas pipeline and a restructuring of Alaska’s oil valuation formula.

Sarah Palin is past chair of the Interstate Oil and Gas Compact Commission, a multistate government agency that promotes the conservation and efficient recovery of domestic oil and natural gas resources while protecting health, safety and the environment. She also served as chair of the National Governors Association (NGA) Natural Resources Committee, which was charged with pursuing legislation to ensure state needs are considered as federal policy is formulated in the areas of agriculture, energy, environmental protection and natural resource management.

Governor Palin’s “business experience” comes with the negotiations and dealings she has had with one of the most powerful industries in the world: the energy industry. This includes the negotiations on what will be the largest private infrastructure project in North American history. Governor Palin has successfully negotiated new tax structures, lease deals and other issues that arise in the Alaska energy industry.
At the end of the day, Governor Palin negotiated billion dollar deals with one of the toughest industries in the world.

Sarah Palin’s successful efforts to stop the cronyism and reform the energy business in Alaska were so impressive Kay Cashman, the publisher and executive editor of Petroleum News, wrote the book entitled: “Sarah Takes On Big Oil” .
This is a must read for anyone who wants to understand the leadership Sarah Palin has exhibited in the area of reforming government and industry.

While Governor Palin has a history of being a reformer and taking on powerful interests for the benefit of ordinary people, Obama’s history is that of a tool of special interests, be they unions, trial lawyers, ACORN, or Wall Street.

Sarah Palin is a true patriot.

Instead of sticking it out as governor to try and help Alaska through these tough times, she is doing what any true patriot would do and getting her own reality show on the discovery channel. She will now be a part of a elite group of true patriots like John and Kate plus eight, cake boss, and swamp loggers.

      Sarah 2012!!

I personally think it is hilarious that the MSM is expending so much time and energy to discredit a “candidate ” that has said a dozen times, that I know of, she hasn‘t decided if she’ll run or not.
On Chris Wallace’s show she said she enjoys the freedom of her place now in that she can speak her mind and not even think about the repercussions of her statement. Whereas, as a “candidate” ,that freedom disappears. I just think it‘s funny to watch these elites run around looking for something that isn’t there yet.
