Anti-Bullying: ‘It Gets Better’ Founder Dan Savage Calls Conservative Gays ‘House F****ts’

Dan Savage, founder of the anti-gay-bullying organization “It Gets Better,” is well known for behaving in ways that seem rather like…well, a bully. Whether it’s cursing at Christian teenagers from the pulpit, or turning Rick Santorum’s last name into a demeaning neologism, Savage has made a name for himself as a scourge of the Religious Right, no matter how much he wants to pretend to oppose bullying now.

Besides, now Savage has moved on from simply attacking the Religious Right, and outed himself as purely partisan. Why? Because his most recent target is not a religious target — in fact, its members have come under fire from the religious Right. Who are they? None other than the conservative gay organization GOProud, which Savage is attacking for the sin of supporting Mitt Romney. Here‘s Savage’s Tweet, sent out today:

Dan Savage Calls GOProud House Faggots After Mitt Romney EndorsementThis is an anti-bullying crusader? Someone who uses a slur he himself encounters against his ideological opponents while implying that they will be subject to violation from behind? Really? We think not.

As pseudonymous author Spencer Dewitt remarked of Savage:

He indulges himself with nastiness not because there is nothing he can think of worth praising, but because he is too lazy and/or cowardly to advance the cause of that which he likes, and so would rather denounce that which he dislikes. In the almost inevitable event that he does decide to advance constructive arguments for that which he likes, they almost invariably will be both mind-bogglingly vapid, and infuriatingly smug, as if [Savage] believes that whatever meaningless cliche has managed to ossify inside his otherwise poisonous cranium is incontrovertible truth. [...]

He is the Louis Farrakhan of gay people, and should be outed as such.

    A gay man calling someone ****** is the same as a black man calling someone ******. He has a certain amount of insulation. This man is a pathetic creature. Knowing how the gay community is eternally preoccupied with outward superficiality, I’m sure this guy has a very difficult time with his unfortunate face. I’m sure that is where his rage and his profound sense of inadequacy comes from. That is usual in most cases of this sort when someone harbors such hatred for others.

      I am a Gay Man and Dan Savage is a pathetic waste of oxygen! He is NOT like every gay man, he is just another Leftist Radical Progressive that BO seems to attract [Birds of a Feather]. I didn’t like this man from the moment he “preached at his pulpit” that day he bullied those young adults. Does he really think anyone is going to listen to him when he acts like a crazy person? I think some “anger management” and A LOT of couch therapy along with medication is needed for this EVIL person.

      Why do conservatives have “house *******” anyway? I thought we did not label people, especially by the type of sex they prefer. Is it so we can say “See, we’re not bigots. We’ve got our own people who act homosexually”? If you want to have sex with a man, no one is stopping you. Just shut up about it. I don‘t want to see you parading your deviance around like it’s something honorable.

      So sexual deviance gets mainstreamed and everyone uses symbols for words like “******” because offending someone who acts homosexually has been raised to the level of racism. Truly, pluralism has led to the death of reason.

    Dewitt is right on that Savage represents only the screaming bar queens and far leftists – mostly in L.A. – that claim to speak for all gays, most of whom would rather just be left alone to live discretely and quietly without it being taken for granted that they support only leftist democrats. Just like Rush said and Kaybeebeau pointed out, “leftists are first and foremost leftists.”

      Sadly, school systems and other organizations will continue to hire him because they think he has something to say. Unfortunately, his angry activism will dog his steps and hopefully, the more times that he does stupid stuff like this, the more it will be noted by the media in venues like this. And eventually, he’ll be reduced to just one more furious person shouting on the street corner, all sound and fury, but no substance. Just remember that an empty barrel makes the most noise.

      As for those of you who may be conservatives and gays that may be reading this, I think of you as fellow conservatives and not in any other demeaning terms. Dan Savage is nothing more that a pipsqueak jumping up and down for attention shouting, “Look at me!! Look at me!!” Ignore him as you would a sand flea. (Apologizes to sand fleas everywhere)

    i love savage. he is great. every conservative here should love the guy. why? because he shows the desperation and inferiority of the progressive liberal way of life. We on the right are RIGHT. we know it and most importantly dan savaga knows it too. thats why libs only have attacks and slanders. My fellow conservatives, WE WON! we have won the factual, moral and logical argumet! if dan savage and people like him represents the epitome of liberal intelligence and their finest political ‘warriors’ then we have nothing to fear or get mad at.       I figured as much. I was hoping for some dialog so perhaps he can see that pointing out the hypocrisy of a public figure is not hate. Even if that person is in a “protected” group. I should be able to disagree the position of someone regardless of the gender, race (which is a funny thing to even say since biologically we’re all part of the same race), etc. without having to consider that it will be viewed as hate.

      While I disagree with the President I did appreciate his response to the notion that the tea party just didn’t like him because of his race. He said something like, “It’s important to remember that I was black before the election.” Even if he won’t stop, or try to stop, his supporters from invoking race at least he wasn’t willing to do it personally.

      Oh I wasn’t referring to this article SPECIFICALLY as an example of hate of Dan Savage–I was referring the attitude of the Right IN GENERAL towards Dan Savage. And OF COURSE from their ideological perspective they have EVERY good reason to hate him–which is, of course, why I love him.

      I don’t know how Obama got into this thread, but since you bring it up–he was black before the election, and people who would become the Tea Party STILL hated/disliked (I really don’t care what word you choose to express antipathy) him then. Some of his detractors hated him for political reasons–others, undeniably, did so for racist ones. That’s simple fact–some people are racist, others are not. As a racial minority, Obama is at the receiving end of more racism than his white colleagues. That’s just fact. It doesn’t mean everyone on the Right is racist, it doesn’t mean the Tea Party is categorically racist–it’s simply an unfortunate historical truth (that blacks as a racial minority, like other racial minorities, get the majority of racism and suffer the majority of the negative CONSEQUENCES thereof) that we should be mindful of, that we should desire to change, but that is nevertheless empirical reality in the status quo.

      No matter what issue a leftist claims to support (Gay Rights, Women’s Rights, The Environment, Animal Rights, etc.) they are first and foremost a leftist. Gay Rights leftist only support Gay Rights for leftist gays. Women’s Rights leftist only support Women’s Rights for leftist women. The cause is not important to them advancing the leftist ideals is the only thing that matters.
